Filled out an application for a house. Lady calls me this morning, asks about my husbands income. Tells me I cant view the house at all until either I get a good reference or put money down. I offer one month's rent, she asks for the full six months lease, $3,000, to be paid before even viewing the house. This feels like a scam.
No settlement requested - for If this is an illegal scam, I would love to see this "company" put out of business. If it is not, I would like for other potential renters to understand what they will have to go through.

Thank you for your email. 336 Properties has been in business for 15 years and this is the first complaint that we have received from the Revdex.com. 95% of our renters earn at least three times the monthly rent and have a strong landlord reference. In these cases 336 Properties only requires a security deposit equal to one month's rent and the first month's rent paid before move in. Our policy states that if a prospective tenant does not earn at least three times the monthly rent and has a strong landlord reference from someone other than a family member, that tenant has the option to put down six months rent up front in order to be considered for renting the property. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
I apologize if this is legal. I have never had anyone ask for so much up front. I recognize that I only have family members to rely on but I have not rented in a while, and when I did, it was through friends or family. I talked to several people that seemed to think it was scammy, as we are all vigilant with our money not going to those that wish to swindle it. If this is actually a legal course of action I don't need any further action. Again, I apologize.
