360 Landscaping & Lawn Care

I contacted 360 Landscaping to do some clean up work around my yard , pressure washing the pool area, as well as finish installation of a pool gate. I installed the fencing and lacked time to finish the gate. They agreed to all the work and we negotiated a price. They began work, and all seemed satisfactory initially. Although I had to go behind the kid who was doing the pressure washing and move simple, lightweight pool furniture out of the way because he didn't. They finished up for the day and had to come back. When they came back, they didn't finish clearing out pine straw from the bushes like I had asked for and then started the pool gate. They had none of the required tools to do the job (large level, chalk line, drill for concrete, etc) so I loaned them mine. Then the guy trying to do the work looked thoroughly confused ( and didn't speak English so I could explain it to him). They installed the gate and it was installed crooked, not square, and the gate wouldn't even close. I called the owner to complain and he came out to my property. I showed what I was dissatisfied with and even asked him if that was his property, would he be happy with the craftsmanship? His answer was "no". But he insisted that he get a chance to "make it right" so they could get the final amount owed to them (I paid half up front, $700, and agreed to pay the second half after work was completed). At this point I wanted to cut my losses and finish it myself, since I installed the rest of the fence (straight, level and square, even though I'm military and not a "lawn care professional". But he said he'd send it to collections if we either didn't pay or give him a chance to make it right. I gave him the chance and they came back and re cemented the holes they over drilled so they could install the gate. They left to let the cement dry and NEVER CAME BACK TO FINISH. That was July 2014 time frame, and here it is, March 2015 and I just received an email invoice for the remaining $700. I gave them a second chance after they did completely substandard work and to the owners own admittance he would not have been happy with it if it were his house. They had the chance to make it right and get their full price, but decided that fixing their garbage work was not nearly as important as collecting their money. I'd rather finish the work myself CORRECTLY than pay them for substandard workBusiness Response The company is no longer in business we have cleared the balance to $0 owed for this customer. Even though some of the things that were mentioned in the complaint are false at this time since we are no longer operating we have just decided that clearing the balance is the best thing to do.
