4 Seasons Power Equipment Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased a "used" Honda lawnmower from this store on 04/11/16 for a total of $321. The store Owner expressed that he was a certified Honda dealer and convinced me that this lawnmower was basically brand new - even saying it was used for less than a year. This identical mower retails for $499 at [redacted], but was told by the Owner that it was actually a $650 mower, new. Because this store's primary business is servicing lawn equipment, I trusted that the mower would be reliable and would be a reliable alternative to spending the additional $200. When I first took the mower home, on the very first use, one of the front wheels fell off. I tightened them to the best of my ability, but they are extremely loose and "wobbly." It is so bad that it is not possible to cut in a perfectly straight line. Then, in mid-June, the self-propulsion feature - one of the primary reasons I selected this mower - stopped working. My back yard is very steep, so it is next to impossible to mow without it. I was in the midst of being married July 2, though, so it was not important to have fixed until after the wedding. I called them and explained the issue and they had me bring the mower back. After two and a half weeks, they called me to pick it up on a Friday. When I arrived, they brought the mower out and began to load it into my vehicle. I stopped them and said that I wanted to try to, first. I did; the problem was not fixed. I asked the employee to take a look at it and he quickly dismissed it, saying that he had other things to do. I went into the store and explained the situation. The lady told me to give them another week and they would have someone work on it. I drove home extremely frustrated, so I called them back and insisted to have it right away. Now, after three full weeks, the Owner called and said he fixed it himself. I drove back to the store and picked it up. When I questioned what was wrong, all he would tell me is that he adjusted a belt. As soon as I got home, I noticed that things were odd with this mower. There was a deep gouge on the blade-stop housing, there was paint missing on the handle and it was rusting and there was a large decal completely missing from the mower. This prompted me to question if the mower I was given was even the mower that I had dropped off, or almost picked up, previously. The Owner was insulted that I was questioning if the mower was swapped, but he also refused to provide a copy of the original receipt with the serial number of the unit that I purchased. The final straw came this week as I was cutting the grass - the self-propulsion broke, yet again. Defeated, I called and told the Owner's wife that I would like to return the mower and exchange it for my money back. It is now very clear that the mower that they sold me, and whatever mower they returned to me, are defective. The Owner's wife said it shouldn't be a problem, but her husband makes the final decision. When I called back in and spoke with the Owner, he was extremely rude. I was very polite but firm that I wanted to return the defective mower. The Owner insisted that he would not do it. I reminded him that the mower was broken for over a month and they had it in their shop for three whole weeks of the summer. He continued to be rude, even hanging up on me. I immediately called back, seeking resolution, and he would not cooperate. He said that he had already gone above and beyond by fixing it in the first place, and would not refund my money. The owner was extremely rude and unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I would like to return the mower and receive a full refund. It is abundantly clear that the mower, itself, is defective and that this company is unable or unwilling to properly fix it. Considering the amount of money I spent, I should not have any issues, at all, let alone the amount that I have had to this point. I cannot allow this company to attempt to fix the issues, as they have told me before that it could be quite costly. I feel that the only way to rectify this situation is to give the mower back and have my money refunded, in full. That is the only acceptable way for this to end.

Review: I took 2 chian saws(one was a 1966 Stihl and the other was a newer model McCulloough) to 4 seasons power Equipment on September 3rd to be looked at and possibly be repaired if 4 seasons determined they were worth repairing. I paid a $20 initial fee for each saw for a look see/determination of whether either or both saws were worth repairing(the $20 fee would be put towards the repair bill I was told). I was told on September 6th when I stopped in to see what the status of my 2 saws was that I would get a call on Tuesday September 9th to let me know the status of the saws Worth working on or not) and then I could find out what the cost estimate would be so I could give my authorization to go ahead and get the saws working. I never received a call on Tuesday ,but I did get a call on Wednesday September 10th in the afternoon saying both saws are done and in good working order- After my wife and I went into 4 seasons later on the 10th of September to get the saws I find out that the cost for the old Stihl saw turned out to be $102.45 ($82.45 after the $20 initial fee paid was taken off ) and the cost for the McCullough saw was $51.26 ($31.26 after the $20 initial fee was taken off). I am not happy because of these unexpected high costs given and because I did not give authorization to do any work on my 2 saws without first receiving some idea of the costs involved. Also I had no idea there was a $45.99 tune -up cost for each saw that represented a big part of the work done. The fact that I did not a cqll to give me the opportunity to say whether to do work on the saws and that there were these two $45.99 "tune -up" costs which I knew nothing about until I see the bill on September 10th. I believe 1) proceeding with work without customer pre-approval and 2) the lack of providing estimated costs up front are deceptive practices by 4 seasons which cost me money I may not have wanted to spend .Desired Settlement: 1)Have Revdex.com document our complaint against 4 Seasons Power Equipment so others are not "duped" as we were , 2) try to have 4 seasons follow acceptable practices of getting pre-approval from customers before work is done and give estimated costs for work they believe is necessary to have customer's equipment put into good working order.
