Review: I went to this shop to get the transmission on my 2003 kawasaski zzr600e fixed. Was the only problem I had with the bike bike rode fine just needed new 2nd gear. [redacted] said it would be 800 to 1200 dollars and would take about 2 weeks. I agreed with that it sounded fair and left them my bike. 3 weeks past by and they had done no work to the bike at all. I brought it in 6/**/2013. I return to check on 6/**/2013 with the bike looking the same as when I first brought it in. Said he would get to it needed more time I said ok fine. After 2 days he calls me and said 4 out of 6 gears are bad etc etc...its gunna cost 2000 to finish it . Wasnt happy about that and I said ok gave them the money for the parts. Another 2 weeks roll around bike still isnt done. Another week later he said the bikes almost done but( he ) ripped the hose that goes to the coolant and he had to order the hose online then after that 2 weeks goes by and after valling constantly they say its gunna be ready then still after another week rolls around they say I can pick the bike up the next day. I show up and they are still working on my bike there putting it back together and then im waiting an hour for them to finish it and im late for work and I tell him im not happy it took so long. You told me 2 weeks and it took almost 2 months my summer is half gone its july **. Its not far to me that u made a deal with me and u didnt live up to it and he doesnt come down on the price and was still going to try and charge me for a hose he rip and told me he did it but try to say it was already ripped no, never had my motorcycle leaked coolant your lying so I pay him and walk away with my bike the next day I try to ride the bike and im on the northern state parkway a highway, and the bike ss off its over heating and I almost get ran over by a truck. Managing to walk away from that situation fully un harmed aside from a few burns from a boiling engine. The bike wont start it and when I got it too it was making abnormal sounds and I get it towed back and I tell them u guys amost killed me I have more problems then I did when I came he now they want another 1000 to fix it and they say there not responsable for what happened but there full of it and im not giving the another red cent.Desired Settlement: I want a refund atleast for the labor and they have to fix my bike free of charge

Response:

Customer brought bike in on Saturday, 06/**/13, for transmission problems. He was told that engine needed to be removed and the damage assessed in order to know the exact cost of the repair. After about a week and a half he was given a call with the full damage report and cost of repairs. He came down on Saturday, 6/**/13, and gave initial down payment of $1000.00 to order parts and to continue with the repair. Parts from the Kawasaki dealership take about 5 to 7 days to come in. After receiving the parts and gaskets the following week progress began on bike to finish installing parts and installing engine back in motorcycle frame. After bike was completed there was a slight leak in one of the coolant hoses. The proper repair is to replace damaged hose which costs $23.62. We ordered the new coolant hose from the Kawasaki dealership which delayed the completion of the repair of motorcycle for another week. Motorcycle was finally completed and on 7/**/13 [redacted] came in to pick up his motorcycle and pay the balance of the repair bill. He said he wasn't happy with how long it took and that he shouldn't have to pay for broken hose. We told [redacted] that we are not responsible for parts or damage to parts that are incurred from disassembling of old parts. This motorcycle is in very poor condition and also 10 years old. I did however split the cost by not charging him for a $16.25 bottle of coolant needed in part of the repair. Once the job was completed the motorcycle was test ridden to make sure there are no problems. Transmission shifted smoothly and did not skip out of any gears as transmission previously did before the repairs were made. [redacted] came and paid for repairs he did not mention any abnormal noises coming from the motorcycle. [redacted] brought his motorcycle in the following week after [redacted] stated bike got him stuck on the side of the road and there was signs of smoke. We showed him that engi ne had proper amount of oil and coolant in system at the time he brought the motorcycle back in. We warranty work that is performed in our shop which in this case is a transmission repair. [redacted] was told that we would take engine back out of motorcycle and engine be torn down to see what is going on inside. After spending 6-7 hours dismantling engine again it was found that a connecting rod lower bearing had failed (spun bearing) which is not related to the transmission repair, or in any way a cause from the repair. In this case the transmission is still is perfect working condition. The two options given to [redacted] were to be either buy a $500 used replacement engine which I would only charge $200 to cover new oils, fluids, and filters to put in because of his situation or do the costly repair of repairing his broken rod bearings, piston rod and crankshaft for the price of upward of over $2000. [redacted] never showed any concern or hostility towards what was going on. He c ame to pick up motorcycle and parts and told us that he was just going to sell the bike and parts and get a new bike. He was not charged the 6 hours I used to dismantle the engine which he should have been because I take care of my customers. I spent even more time taking bike, parts, and engine out and put it in box truck for him and then the following week I get this letter.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[im not going to explain this over and over basically I paid 2 grand to ride a bike once and the very next day I dropped it off and its had more problems then I came with if I wanted to pay 700 to get a new motor then I should of did that in the first place. hes a joke I was damn near born in a mechanic shop I know my way around a car and bikes are not much different. I know how this game goes shady people doing shady work. and he has some nerve lying and talking trash. my bikes old? his shops a hole in the wall I got sick from dirt, dust and grime being everywhere. he doesnt ever make any sense you want me to be hostile? hostilily? Im a 5 year vet of us army and a 10 year black belt trained special forces, I think the last thing you want is to make me made. I get mental help because of my anger thats why I dont show emotions. if he was doing me such a favor then why didnt he say anything. Probly because he knew I would of flipped on him if he tried to charge me for so bs work he messed up. he better lawyer up, im the wrong one. I gave him chances to make things right but he doesnt so I have no choice. its not even about money I blow 2 grand daily im not poor , its the princple and karma catches up to people. I may not know everything about motorcycle but I know the when im being conned. I also know the words lawyer and padlock, which I come from a strong legal background.so see u in court this is done.]
