I have been a customer since April of 2018 when I came across this company that was marketing to Rural America. It was a great option for us as we lived in Rural Illinois where our internet options are limited. Here is the plan that I signed up for straight out of their welcome letter:

The plan:

"The 4GAS ONLINE LTE Rural America One Data Plan which offers you the freedom to have UNLIMITED high-speed data with 50GB1 of that data at our highest speeds priced for only $85.00 a month all taxes and fees included. This plan is with using either T-Mobile or ATT cell towers."

The welcome letter goes on to say:

"Our customers are the most important part of our business, and we promise to work diligently to ensure your complete satisfaction. Please keep in the mind the following usage policy:

After you use your 50GB of high-speed internet data you may be subject to slower speeds, which means at certain times of the day your internet may be slower if network congestion exist in your area, most areas we service will not experience any slows downs. This temporary slowdown lasts as long as the tower is experiencing high demand, or as soon as the customer moves to another tower not experiencing high demand. Normal service speeds are not guaranteed and most subscribers will experience speeds between 7-20 mbs downstream depending on the service area and service vendor limits. Slow down speeds are typically from 1-5 Mbps and latency may increase during congestion."

I can live with speeds of 1 to 5 Mbps when there is congestion on the cell tower which does not happen very often because remember I am in rural Illinois and that is better than the speeds I was getting with my previous provider even at the throttled speeds.

Yesterday (June 2nd 2020) I received an email to review their updated Acceptable Data Usage Policy. I did as they requested and read the policy.

Here is their new policy that they put out with zero warning to their customers who are in the middle of their monthly cycle

"OFFICIAL DATA POLICY FOR END USERS CLIENTS ON 4GAS NETWORKS.

GENERAL PUBLIC RELEASE

Re: Updated fair usage and data policy for all users.

Effective immediately, this document is considered the latest Acceptable Data Use Policy in force and is subject to change without any further notice.

4G Antenna Shop uses an access point name (APN) to manage the content and delivery of our service, enabling us to monitor traffic and ensure that end-users remain in compliance with our Acceptable Data Use Policy. The kinds of traffic that we predominantly limit are those that consume excessive amounts of data in short periods and create tower congestion that limits other end-users.

The following is a list of common activities that we do not allow:

Excessive use of streaming video services, including but not limited to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, Disney+, Roku TV, Sling TV, and Tubi TV
Excessive use of online video game services, including butnot limited to Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and Nintendo Direct
Excessive use of social media platforms that report heavy usage, including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook
Peer-to-peer networking services — also known as “torrenting.”
Use of any Access Point Name that is not provided by 4G Antenna Shop Inc.
Use of more than 200GB per month on a single SIM card
Alarming usage (50% or more of their data allotment) in the first several days of a billing cycle
Resale and subsequent utilization of service for public or “internet cafe-style” use
Limiting these services is imperative to reducing network strain and ensuring that most users see equal speeds and access.

Any plan on our service will see their speeds reduced to up to 100Kbp/s or service stopped completely after 250GB of usage on any single service plan, or if using an APN that is not assigned by 4G Antenna Shop.

Data Abuse Counseling Program

Data usage is consistently over high-speed allotments, which is creating congestion on towers and resulting in reduced network efficacy for non-abusive customers. Common usage is 50GB-180GB, with certain users consuming upwards of 200GB of data on a single line, during one billing cycle. Additionally, the most prevalent type of network traffic being reported through the AML management portal is identified as Content Delivery Networks and game services. These are not business or business-related uses.

Any traffic identified as a potential abuse case will be reported and the end-user will receive one (1) warning and must agree to remain in compliance with this policy. Any further violations of this policy can or will result in termination of the service.

This initiative aims to reduce or eliminate the number of active monthly users that surpass their high-speed data allotment, particularly those that are considered “heavy users” at over 200GB in one billing cycle."

After reading the policy change and contacting their customer service about the abrupt change in policy, they then cut my service off the same day that I was made aware of the new policy without even giving us a chance to comply with the new policy. My family had been using data under the guidelines of the original agreement that I posted at the top of this review and had been living with the throttling of our speeds without any issue.

This new effective immediately policy gives customers zero chance to comply with it because they issued it in the middle of the month. They have cut off the service that I have already paid for halfway through the month. This has caused a great disruption in our household as I have multiple kids that are relying on the internet to complete classes that they are enrolled in, and all that the Director of Business Ops can say is sorry. She informed me that they were extending service to some customers but because of our usage (that was the same usage that we had the previous months), she could not extend the service for us so that we could find a replacement provider.

They claim that they are worried about abuse of the cell tower but then offer to sell me more sim cards to accommodate my data use. If it were about the abuse they would not offer that option. I would still be able to use the same amount of data, as long as I paid them more money for it.

Terrible customer service, and a terrible way to treat your current customer! I would NEVER recommend them to anyone looking for an internet provider in Rural America (the people that they are marketing to)

They are going to come on here and reply that I have used 570 GB in 18 days and that is unacceptable use, but it is the same use that I have had for months with their service and there has been no issue until yesterday.

This company has been great for my family up until Covid hit. Until then, their employees were great. Helpful. Respectful. Prompt and polite.
After covid hit and everyone was stuck indoors- I received a rude call from Monica over my data use.
I had to call yesterday with a question and did inform them I was searching for alternate internet providers because I was asked why I wanted to know how much data I had used-
Today I got a voicemail telling me I won’t be charged tomorrow since I’m canceling service.
I never said I was canceling my service. I told the rep my husband and I are looking to see what other providers have available or we would be purchasing a second SIM card for double the price and double the data capability.
Somewhere they got their lines crossed and are in turn being nasty to their customers.
Numerous attempts to reach them this afternoon- I keep getting told the lady I need to speak with is on another line.
I will say- the guy who started 4G antenna shop, however has always been really nice and polite when I’ve spoken to him. It seems to me that he just has a few bad apples employed by him.

Around the time it was looking like we were going to be staying at home due to Covid 19, I found 4GAS as a possible source for rural internet here. On a Saturday morning I spoke with Jose Cruz and got a package set up for a great price. He gave me his personal cell number to call when I received the modem/router, to get the antenna set up and directed. It took a little work on my part to get the coaxial cable and antenna situated, but once it was up we had almost 20 Mbps of download speed. Just prior to this I checked the speed and it was 16.7 Mbps. Now I know that's not setting any records, but compared to Centurylink's high speed DSL at a whopping .75Mbps for the same price, yes that is a decimal in front of the 75, we were overjoyed. My son needed something reliable for college online and my wife and I both needed the speed for teaching at home. This has really helped in a time of need and Jose Cruz was excellent in providing the support we needed. Thanks 4GAS!!!

We live in rural Arkansas and our only option was a physical DSL line from Windstream that they throttled to 1Mb/s. I work remotely on my business PC all day and have 5 kids that happen to have gamer parents. We have 6 computers + several consoles that are online and this service saved our family from a life of 1Mb/s dark ages. Thank you 4G Antenna Shop for providing this service to those of us that live outside urban America.

The best choice for my rural location. We have 1 modem and it covers the entire house

4G Antenna Shop provides quality service and prompt, reliable support.

I have had the service for 4 months with no problems or outage. Downloads are usually over 10 mpps. Streaming for YouTube and YouTube TV seems to be set at 1.5 mpps. That works for me. I get a steady SD quality with no buffering. The SD streaming makes me a good data usage citizen and unlikely to lose the service for excess data usage. The SIM is ATT. I live 2 miles from the tower. I get 4 bars on the 4G LTE modem.

Initially 4G was a great option for us. We relocated to Kentucky after two years in northern IL, and service had been spotty, even though we switched carriers as suggested by 4G. Service was still acceptable even though service was spotty. After almost 3 years in KY, our service slowed to the point we could only send text messages....could not download web pages or read email. Contacted 4G and they said I had exceeded my data and they had throttled my internet. I asked for a usage report, because they said I had used over 700Gig of data. The usage report showed less than 30Gig of data usage. Aside from that, I asked how an unlimited business plan could exceed their data plan, because no business I know would accept a limited business plan. Apparently they had changed their rules on data plans. There was nothing I could do...I offered to pay additional, or to find someway to restore my access. Answer was NO. The data plan would reset in another 10 days at the beginning of the next billing cycle. They were unable to explain the difference between the usage report, and their claim of my usage. I switched immediately to ATT....no problems since. Whlie service with 4G was acceptable, their business practice is NOT acceptable. 4G will not be a consideration for me in the future...availability of service is one thing, deceptive business practice is another. Trust is a huge issue, and they certainly lost my trust. If you have any other option for service, I would recommend serious consideration of the other provider.

I found them searching *** and contacted them on a Thursday, by Friday my 4G modem was delivered by Saturday. I plugged it in and it worked. Right from the start. My speeds vary from 15 mb-38mb. It is consistent and works very well. I am very happy there is a great company like this giving rural internet access.

If you are in a rural area such as I am, I am telling you there is no beating this deal. My choices are limited to *** net, and mobile hot spot. Hot spot is ridiculously high if you need a good bit of data. *** is ok but more expensive for more data and requires a contract. *** net is just a joke. If your choices are limited as mine are, save yourself the 3 days of research that I did and give this company a call.

My account is set up on auto draft and was deducted from my account on 11/20. On 11/22 my internet was so slow I couldn't use it. Their "24/7 tech support" never responded via email or chat and wouldn't answer the phone.

11/25 I finally got a hold of someone. She said they don't have 24/7 tech support because they only have 1 person, which is why the phone was "busy" all morning.

She called back to say my line had been deprioritized, it's not their decision, and refused to give me the phone number to the *** people who said I used 136gb. I use this for school and work-no gaming, no streaming.

I find it funny that my line wasn't slowed down until AFTER my payment was taken. I told her to cancel the account and refund me for the prorated month (all but 5 days) and she refused.

In addition, I have asked for MONTHS (since August) for a return shipping label for the 2 antennas that they sold me that tech support said I can't use and don't need. They refused and said they don't pay for return shipping nor will they send me anything authorizing the return even though the tech support said that they would refund me for the product (I have an email proving that from Donovan).

So I have several hundred dollars worth of product that I've only had for 5 months, most of which I've never used, that's junk. I'm limited on my options in the country and 4gas is taking advantage of that-poor responses, refusal to provide return documentation and credits for almost an entire month that I'm not going to use, and nonexistent tech support.

Sierra said there's no point in giving me the phone number to their T-Mobile support because it's on their website that if we go over it gets throttled down. She couldn't explain what used so much data and I've never had this problem before. She also refused to credit the account because they "don't have to credit at cancellation" if it's after 14 days from the original order-even though I am not using the service for a whole month.

This company provided my family with great quality internet that we are actually able to use for more than a few days while living in a rural area. Coming from a very bad experience with *** Satellite Internet where we we were paying a large amount of money every month to only have mediocre internet for around 2 days & then barely being able to load anything after that time due to data caps, this company has definitely come to the rescue. I would absolutely refer this company to anyone in need of internet who lives in rural America. It was very easy to set up and the internet is fast! Thank you!
