In May, 2014, I approached 4K Renovations for an estimate for some odd jobs after I saw them working on a house in my neighborhood. I obtained an estimate and signed a contract for the following work:
-Soffit repair
-Cut tree limb (completed satisfactorily)
-Power wash house
-Clean windows
-Clean ceiling fan in great room (completed
satisfactorily)
-Replace/paint mailbox
-Replace vent on side of house
-Repair loose siding (completed satisfactorily)
The following items were not completed satisfactorily:
-The soffit repair is not "flush" with adjoining board
-The power wash job was horrible and looks worse than
before the power wash attempt
-The 2nd story windows were not cleaned on the outside
-The vendor never returned (as promised) to paint the
mailbox post (I completed the work myself)
-The vent repair is shoddy and the molding sticks out
about 1/4" from the house (after repair, vendor
stated molding was not in the scope of the work???)
Overall, the vendor failed to deliver on his promises of quality work, and didn't show up, or show up on time on several occasions.
Vendor admittedly, did not conduct background checks on his employees, and consequently, stated that one of his employees stole his truck and tools during the time of my repair work.
Review: Around the middle of January [redacted] an 4K Renovations were hired by my sister in law to remodel a room in my house as a bedroom on a first floor level the reason she hired them was because I was in the Hospital an could not do it my self I had a stroke in the end of December I released on Feb 5 I don't know the date he left but the house was not finished I had been home about three weeks an I called him an asked him if he had forgotten about me he went irate an said don't talk to me like a boy I'm a man an told his wife I cussed him an called him every name in the book which I did not. I was just going to forget about it, He was paid in full, at the time of my phone call to him I had ask him for an invoice for labor an materials an told him not to come back. my sister in law had ask him several times for an invoice for what reason he dose not seem to want to give it , I have paid him 5000 dollars for the job which seems way over priced, was going to take him to small claims court but I don't have a good address for him the reason he used to leave my house was because he had to move.Desired Settlement: I feel as if 2800 to 3000 dollars would have been a fair price for work done
Review: On May 10th, 2013, we paid in full $2,017.00 for replacement of rotten wood on screen room and around both garage doors with PVC trim, this was completed. They Powered washed the concrete patio, and were to replace a rear screen door. The cost of the labor was $875.00. He took our screen door to make sure he had the right dimensions. We had made several calls to him and he complied that the screen door wasn't returned yet from the shop he sent it to. And to make matters worse, he told us that he never promised to replace the screen door, that it wasn't mentioned on the contract. However, I have proof of evidence of the contract(Invoice #[redacted] dated May 7,2013) that he indeed agreed to replace the screen door. Why would he have taken the old screen door if it was not for verifying proper dimensions? However, we still are waiting for our screen door that he promised to replace, and even after sending him a letter of complaint, have not heard from him. I believe that Mr. [redacted] has no intentions of completing his contract that he signed on May 7th, 2013.Desired Settlement: We want a new screen door as promised in the contract and also we want back the old screen door that he took.
Review: WE HAD REMODELING WORK DONE AT A RENTAL PROPERTY WE PUT DOWN A DOWN PAYMENT OF $ 3500.00
HE WAS VERY SLOW WORKING THEN HE SAID HE DID NOT HAVE $ TO FINISH WE PAID HIM THE BALANCE.
HE DID ABOUT HALF THE WORK THEN FAILED TO RETURN.
Review: [redacted] dba as 4k Renovations owner/operator was hired to install carpet on two of my rental properties. Begging me for the money up front telling me his excuse for needing the money upfront was because he needed it for another job he was starting for another client. He guaranteed that the work would be started the next day and finished by the following day. the one property was done upstairs and the rest of the new carpet that was purchased for the house was thrown down into a basement that flooded and carpet was damaged unfinished. [redacted] refuses to answer his phone calls and refuses to send me a copy of receipt showing that work was paid for. The work is still not finished. [redacted] will not answer phone call. I had to hire another carpet installer to finish work.. [redacted] will not remit any receipt showing that I paid for the carpet install ahead of time. I do have the copy of my cancelled checks however and will proceed to small claims court for the amount of install paid for unfinished job. I will also notify Americas Floor Source in which Dale purchased the carpet from to notify them of my unsatisfactory work. Why Dale refuses to give receipts is beyond me. Beware of doing business with this individual for he will ask for the money up front and will not finish the job in which he is paid for. I will be following up with Small Claims Court if [redacted] decides not to reimburse me for the unpaid amount that I am forced to pay another installer.Desired Settlement: I want $250.00 for the amount that I had to pay to carpet installer for finishing job on one of my properties and refund of any dryrotted carpet and install on other property in carpet he damaged by throwing it into wet basement to be ruined. $500.00 on that job
