4M Construction of Billings, Montana, installed a new roof on our residence in 2010 after we sustained hail damage. On three different occasions several shingles blew off of the roof. 4M came out and repaired the roof. Finally in January 2014, approximately 10% of the roof shingles blew off. 4M was notified and chose to ignore our request for a roof repair (They have a 10 year warranty on their work). Finally a crew of two men was sent out with one square of shingles, which was totally inadequate for the repair. The crew was not aware of the extent of the damage. The crew left, and no further action or communication from 4M was received.
Because I needed to get the roof repaired, I put in a claim with my insurance company. They tried to get 4M to at least cover my $1000 deductible for the new claim, but this too was refused. Their 10 year warranty is totally worthless.
The new roofer I was working with concurred with my findings that the 4M shingles had been installed improperly, with only about 20% of the nails being placed in the nail line of the shingles. Even if the affected area was repaired, how many more shingles would blow off in the future?
This company uses storm chasers from Texas for roof replacement. The job they did was at best just ok.
Once I signed the contract, the only person I could talk to was the gal who answered the phone. I called many times over about 10 days to talk to the company rep who sold me the job but he never returned my calls.
After the job was done 11/5/14 I wrote a letter to the company owner informing him of the mediocre job, that his customer service was non-existent and his company representative never returned my calls. He has not responded to my letter. I will never recommend 4M, or use this company again.
After settling on a contract with the 4m construction salesman, nothing went right. I was promised the work would be done in a particular time frame which was not successful, work was left unfinished throughout the winter and promises made about funding was not kept. Following the winter months with the work still incomplete, an employee of the company called and requested the money after being notified the work was done. Extremely distraught by the confidence and absurd gesture by the gentlemen, I told him the work was not complete and if he cared about the business at all he would have inspected the house himself. Only until I wrote a letter to the company four months after the work was suppose to be done did they respond. The following day they had a full crew working to finish the work. They had the nerve to call the same day they were done, notifying us for the second time that the work was complete and they expected their money. The whole experience was a nightmare, the crew themselves, most likely contractors were pleasant, the company itself have no respect and comprehension of the matter as well as not having a trustworthy and available representative that one expects from any business but especially for one which will cost you $20,000. I will never work with this company or any affiliates due to the attitude and pure naivety the company had.
