[redacted] is a smart and friendly guyI got scheduled through my warranty companyWhen he came out he asked me what was wrong went directly to the problemI got scheduled to have a part replaced a few days laterThey were punctual, professional and hastily resolved my issueI trust this company and will be calling them directly for all my future work
We were first visited by someone from Star Mechanical on Monday, November 7, He told me he'd have to order the part to fix our furnace, and that would take a day or two I hadn't heard a thing by that Friday so I called and was told he'd be back Monday When a different guy came, he did something, but then came and told me that he was unable to turn the furnace back on because there was another problem they hadn't known about, and needed to talk to our home warranty company That was the last I heard from them- they said they were talking to the warranty company to get permission to order the part, but the warranty company told my husband they hadn't heard anything from Star about ordering the second part It's now a little more than weeks later- we still have no heat downstairs, and haven't heard a word from Star I would not recommend calling this business
The company was unreliable and gave us conflicting information on several occasions
On Nov16, the company was authorized by our home warranty to replace a heat exchange on our gas furnaceThe company ordered the part and told us it would be about a week before they were able to install itDue to thanksgiving (no fault of the company) they were unable to schedule the repair until Nov hours before our scheduled appointment on the 30th, I received a call saying they were unable to install the part because it was damaged in shippingI was told they would overnight the part and I would hear back from them that FridayAt that time, I was also told that they could not fix the part until we fixed other ventilation issuesSince I did not fully understand the other issues, my husband (***) called the company back within minutes of the call ending to clarify the issueThe company proceeded to tell my husband that everything was fine and they would do the repair as soon as the part came inOn Friday Dec 2, the company did not call as they stated they would, so I called and left a messageOn Saturday Dec 3, my husband called and left a messageWe were finally contacted on Sunday Dec by the company and we were informed we somehow "fell through the cracks"We scheduled an appointment for Tuesday Dec 6, which they did show up for and finally replace the part
The technician responded quickly, efficiently figured out the problem with my heating unit, was very professional and the company charged reasonable fees
Cant say enough positive things about ***, one of their techs He was professional and courteous, gave us great information and was mindful of our time and space We were pleased with the service and the cost (but who ever likes out of pocket expense?) Will definitely use again

Fast quality service! I will definitely use again.
I have a small business and our air conditioner/heat are very important. I called this company and they were here the next day. Fast and very knowledgeable. Fixed multiple problems in less than an hour. Walked me through how to use my new thermostat. Also made sure written instructions were left. Very friendly and easy to talk to, it felt like I have known him for years.
Nearly 2 months of Repeated calls and appointments and they have yet to actually install either of the 2 heater parts they claim need to be replaced. The company has been at my home 3-4 times to repair a broken heater and keep claiming it needs another part. We are without heat and the company won't even return our calls. Our home warranty will cover the repair cost, and yet this company hasn't gotten the repair done. The company returns calls to the warranty company and promises them they will come to our house and repair it, but then when they arrive they claim they need more parts and leave.Desired SettlementWant the repair made so our heater works!Business Response 10/19/15 the job was completed. The warranty company will only pay for confirmed failures and also required us to work with in his equipment warranty which took most time.Consumer Response The HVAC is finally fixed. The warranty company approved the repair in early August. The 73+ days it took the merchant to replace the motor and component board is unacceptable by anyone's assessment and I hope the merchant will not place other customer's in this situation. We will not be using this company again.
Air Conditioning Repair Unresolved for 69 daysJuly 14, 2015 - Day 69 A/C UnresolvedIt has been 69 days since our original call (May 6, 2015) regarding the Air Conditioning unit. First the system was not cooling and the service technician from 5-Star Mechanical made some adjustments which fixed the problem for a few days. The problem recurred (May 26, 2015) and another technician made some more adjustments again fixing the problem for a few days. A third call was placed (June 6, 2015) for the same problem, again a "quick" fix did not resolve the problem. The fourth call (June 21, 2015) was made because the system had stopped working altogether. Since the call on June 21, 2015 the service technician from 5-Star Mechanical has replaced the condenser unit (July 1, 2015) and several other smaller parts (July 2, 2015), yet the system is still not functioning and required yet more parts (evaporative coil). The lack of communication between 5-Star Mechanical and us regarding additional parts has been lacking regardless of numerous phone calls. We have repeatedly asked for updates on when the new parts would arrive and what the current status of the repairs are, with zero follow-up or follow through. We have been increasingly disappointed with their customer service skills. On July 10, 2015 a call was received from 5-Star Mechanical, who made an appointment for installation on Monday July 13, 2015.Monday July 13, 2015 Installation scheduled between 12 & 2 PM EST. The service technician did not arrive as promised. The part was not installed as promised. Vacation time was used so that the service technician could be met and accommodated, this cost us about $150.00 in time. Four phone calls were made to the contractor, none were returned. The problem is that the A/C needs to be fixed because it is currently not functioning at all. The choices are: (1) fix the problem or; (2) develop a schedule of reasonable dates/times of when the problem will be fixed or; (3) replace the entire unit.In the interim we have been forced to use window AC units, cooling only a small portion of our house. We have also had to cease using our dryer and oven partially to keep from increasing the temperature in the house and partially to compensate for electric use and are only using the dishwasher late at night. We feel that we have been extraordinarily patient with the entire process of having the AC repaired. This problem has moved beyond acceptable, or reasonable. How much longer are we expected to consider this type of service and treatment as professional, courteous, and reasonable? Please consider resolving this problem immediately. The length of time this has gone on is shameful and disappointing and does not reflect well upon 5-Star Mechanical Company. Desired Settlement1) 5-Star Mechanical phone us with a status update, fully explaining why previous calls were ignored.2) 5-Star Mechanical insures that the AC will be repaired or replaced to our satisfaction.3) 5-Star Mechanical apologizes for its lack of customer service4) 5-Star Mechanical agrees to compensate us for excessive electric bills incurred by having to use window AC units since June 21, 2015, and having to use vacation time when it wasn't warranted.
We hired 5 Star Mechanical to do an HVAC cleaning. Two weeks later, our HVAC system failed due to improper cleaning. 5 Star refuses to return calls. We hired 5 Star Mechanical on 6/2 to do an HVAC cleaning at their recommendation. On 6/30 our A/C unit failed so we contacted our home warranty service who filed a service request with a different HVAC company. The second HVAC company came out and told us the A/C unit failed due to the fact that it had not been properly cleaned and could show us specific coils that had not been cleaned. We called 5 Star Mechanical and left no fewer than 10 voicemails and never received a call back from [redacted] the owner. Finally I found [redacted]'s home phone number and called there. The next day (Tuesday 7/8) I did get a call back from him. He told me he would contact the technician who performed the cleaning and he would send someone out to our home. I informed him I would not be home until Friday 7/11 and would like for his technician to wait until then. He said that was fine and he would call me back to schedule the appointment. I never heard a call back from him despite my continuing to leave voicemails on both his cell phone (XXX-XXX-XXXX) and home phone (XXX-XXX-XXXX).Desired SettlementI would like the $140 I paid 5 Star for the cleaning returned plus the $60 home visit I had to pay the other company to fix the problem that was caused by the improper cleaning. The total refund I would like is $200.Business Response Re: Case # XXXXXXXX: 5/12 Mr. [redacted]'s coils to both of his systems were originally found with years of neglect. 6/2 Coils were cleaned with industry standard chemicals all efforts were made to make coils clean as possible. There was an installation issue with Mr. [redacted]'s upstairs coil; the installation provided very little access to the proper side of the coil. The coil upstairs and all others were cleaned as thoroughly as possible. 7/8 after talking to Mr. [redacted] he stated that there was one coil that had issues with cleaning per another HVAC contractor. So I immediately stopped by his house that day after talking to Mr. [redacted], with his verbal permission to inspect what I could on the outside. I took pictures of three coils that were accessible on the outside of his house. These pictures show clean coils and these can be provided if needed. The 4th coil in the attic was not inspected. We are sorry that the threatening voice mails from Mr. [redacted] were not promptly returned. 5 Star Mechanical wants Mr. [redacted] to be satisfied and he has been sent a full refund of $140 by check [redacted] 5 Star Mechanical HVAC Services
