5 Star Movers Reviews (6)

Review: I used 5 Star Movers for my move in NYC at the end of April 2014. They did not deliver my AC unit or my standing fan (which was in it's original box). They did not allow me to check the moving truck to make sure it was empty and they did not give me a receipt for the service paid in full in cash. The movers stated that the office would email me a receipt. This is yet to happen. After many, many phone calls and emails allowing them the opportunity to correct the situation, they have not been able to give me a clear answer on where my products are and when they will deliver them. They say that the driver may have my AC unit but no one knows where my fan is and no one has been able to connect with the driver to confirm this. My AC unit and standing/tower fan were new.

I suffer from [redacted] and have a pet. As a result of the summer heat, I've had to stay with friends as to not risk an [redacted].Desired Settlement: I'd like 5 Star movers to replace these missing units. I emailed 5 Star Movers today at one last attempt to resolve the matter with link where my items can be purchased. After another phone call to [redacted] today (where he acts like he can't hear me and hangs up the phone) and another phone call to his office, where they say they will call me right back and never do, I've decided this is my only recourse. Your help in this situation is greatly appreciated. I am happy to provide any further information as necessary.

Review: On Sunday January **, 2016 I hire 5 Star movers to help with a move. unfortunately movers lost my child entire clothing, toys and some personal sentimental items that I won't be able to recover. Like my child's newborn clothing. Hearth broken I call the movers to try to find items. No luck. I spoke to Mike manager of 5 Star Movers. Mike inform me that this things like this happen often and that sometimes they can't recover items unless another customer reports the item to be return and in case it was stolen you out of luck . At this time I am disappointed because I trusted 5 Star Movers to deliver each item efficiently leaving boxes in front of apartment doors and street is not a good choice specially if they know that items gets stolen. Also movers show up without any type of packing material like advertise on there website. I had to provide them with materials. The movers did work hard but was negligent dealing with my items. I gave the movers a tip, I treated them with respect, all I ask was to deliver my items safe and sound. I paid for the move 600.00 and in top of that I lost about 350.00 including the lost items. Company claims that they insured but the insurance only cover items that they brake if they are the one packing your items according to [redacted] which I strongly feel that [redacted] should be more detail on his site regarding his type of insurance and what is cover. When the movers show up they came with a rental truck it wasn't own by the company which made me think that is family business probably not fully legit. I felt a little deceived. I don't want anybody else to go thru what I experience and for that reason I decided to file a complain to let others know what I experience and to try to resolve my issue with lost items.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the lost of my child's entire clothing, toys and sentimental items. I paid 600.00 for the movers and I would like 300.00 back reimburse due to fact that the movers where negligent not placing items in a safe place making sure that each box was deliver to the home not left on hall ways unattended, apartment doors and street for that reason I am holding 5 Star Movers responsible for my lost.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. I am happy to report that items was found and return. Box was found in the garbage by another individual. No further action is needed. I am happy with out come. Thank you.

Review: On Saturday June [redacted], I hired 2 movers from 5 star movers llc to load my uhaul at [redacted] in manhattan. In the process of the move, one of the movers dropped theglass top of my dresser, causing it to shatter. The movers assumed full responsibility for the break (including a letter that I have signed from the both of them) and the moving company, specifically [redacted] and [redacted] (owner) said that they were going to send out a glass company to my new address in Boston to measure out the glass and get it replaced. The last contact I had from the moving company was on June [redacted] when [redacted] said that they were going to be sending out people from the glass company (text message from [redacted] to prove this). In the last 10 days, I have left numerous voicemails for both [redacted] and [redacted] with no response from either of them. Can you please help me in getting justice here?Desired Settlement: I would like a refund in the amount of 600 dollars for the price of the dresser (the glass top which they broke)

On June [redacted] the above mentioned customer hired 2 movers from our company for labor only. The customer rented their own truck and asked we just load the truck for them. It was the

responsibility of the customer to provide the correct supplies to ensure a safe move. When customers hire from our company and they include a van we ensure we come with all supplies needed for the move [bubble wrap, tape, furniture pads, etc]. When our movers arrived the customers did not correctly wrap this glass piece and the move was not successful. We did attempt to get someone out to get a quote for repair however are unable to find any company in the NYC area willing to go out to Boston for a quote. If the customer can find a local company that can create a invoice and send over to us we can work with the customer for a fair deal.

Hello [redacted],

Review: I contracted 5 Star Movers for a move on Saturday 6/**/14 from 9 am to 11 am for 2 movers 1 truck @ $75 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours. I was sent an email changing the move to 8 am to 10 am and to update my inventory and confirm the move. I spoke with [redacted] who cleared up some questions relating to the move and was told to reconfirm via email - which I never received. The Friday before the move I updated my inventory list which came out to 47 items 4144 lbs of total weight. Again no confirmation email was sent to me. On the day of the move I was sent 2 movers and 1 VAN. The emails clearly said a TRUCK. When I called to ask why would they send a van, [redacted] yelled at me and said that what he had on record only needed a van and said he would not speak to me to speak to his secretary and hung up on me without letting me ask or clarify. I tried calling back and no one would answer I emailed and received no response. I stopped the move after 4 hours as it was going to cost me more money with more trips involved.Desired Settlement: I believe [redacted] should not have been rude and yelled at me his client. I believe that he should have honored his agreement of 1 truck not 1 van. I believe he should monetarily reimburse me for his lack of correctly viewing his emails and inventory.

Review: iTo Whom it May Concer:

I hired a moving companyng in May of 2014 to move my things out of my 1 bedroom apartment and keep the things in storage for 1 year. The company is named 5 Star Moving Company and an address is in the Bronx, NY. Their advertisement stated they are insured, licensed in the the State of NY. which I think is a lie.

I have all the correspondence about the move documented, saved emails, claims they are insured, claims they would use [redacted] boxes and pack with shrink wrap, paper etc.,”professionally and properly," claims as to where my things would be stored for the year. None of which was the truth!

They refused to give me any inventory of what they packed though I asked many times to have it given to me. They refused to give me any documentation that my things were stored in the insured and climate controlled storage place where they said they brought my things named Cube Smart, in the Bronx. I have the emails documenting all of these statements.

My things were moved out of storage by another moving company, (I had my things moved to my new home out of NY) 1 year later. When the delivery arrived there were so many problems I just sat down and cried for 3 days. I hired a lawyer and documented everything;

1. Missing TV, missing air conditioner, missing coffee table, outdoor table, the one AC delivered did not have the hose connecting it to the window.( documentation of my purchasing these items and photos of some of them in my home).

2. At least 20 items completely broken or cracked beyond repair. Several items so filthy I had to throw them away.

3. Items were not stored in the “climate controlled, insured storage space” that was promised, (I have that in writing). The movers who moved my things from storage found my things at a different storage place, not where 5 Star Movers said my things would be stored. This place has no insurance and is not reputable.

4. I had to pay $300.00 a month to 5 Star Moving Co. for the storage and one month, though I never paid late, I was told I better pay on time, I was overdue, why did they need to “babysit” me. The man, [redacted] was hostile, angry and abusive to me over the phone.

5. I received a full size mattress and box spring that were NOT MINE, these in such bad condition even The Salvation Army would not take them. Also received a heavy bookcase and table that were not mine and gave that away to Salvation Army. I had to pay, by weight, to have these things shipped out with my things.

6. Finally, my lawyer sent the company a letter, (I have a copy) as to all this that had happened. She stated they should contact her back within 2 weeks so we could work out a settlement. They NEVER got back to her.

What am I to do? They stole, they destroyed, they dumped someone ’s garbage in with my things, they gave false information, they used ripped and duck taped used boxes for my things, they have no proof they are insured, they ignored a legal request to discuss this situation. I am at a loss as to how to deal with these people. I saw on the Revdex.com site they have 8 other legal requests that they have also ignored. Can you be of assistance? I am desperate and can’t get emotionally over this loss and destruction, knowing how I was deceived and they are still out there doing this to others with no repercussions.

Please help me if possible. I can forward all my photos and documentation as well as my lawyers request to have them contact her that they ignored.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in the matter.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: 1. Answer my attorneys letter

2. compensate me for everything stated above in the complaint

3. Be rated as incompetent in Revdex.com ratings

At this time, I have not been contacted by 5 Star Movers LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted].Sincerely,[redacted]

This moving company was hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I discussed with them (multiple times) that I needed to be out of my building at a certain time, and they assured me that it wouldn't be an issue. They then proceeded to push back my move time all day, and when I tried to reach them, the phone lines were dead for hours.

A 2pm move time turned into a 10pm move time, and the owner refused to be of any assistance. During this entirety of this delay, I was not contacted by the management which they said they would leaving us hanging out to dry. The actual movers themselves were amazingly helpful though.

If you are in a absolute last minute jam, and need moving assistance, this company is still not worth your time.

No receipt. No confirmation of any sort. All cash business except a deposit on [redacted].
