I am the co-signorI am not even sure if anything can be doneI believe they knew about the problems beforehandThe salesman also told my son that he had a guy who was waiting to buy it if he didn't; pressure tactics for sure
On December 7th 2015 I received a text from Mrs [redacted] complaining that her furnace was not working, I called and talked to Mr [redacted] and explained to him that that since the furnace was installed on 8/25/2014 that the labor portion of his warranty was expired (1 year labor) but that there was a parts...
warranty that was valid for 10 years from the date of install. I walked Mr [redacted] though the common steps that solve most issues ie: dirty filters, switch turned off, blown fuse. These steps did not resolve the issue.I asked Mr [redacted] if there was a blinking light on the lower portion of the furnace. He replied that there was, and according to the manual it was a furnace ignition problem, I told him I could come out for $120.00 for the trip charge and clean a sensor or I could try to save him the cost by instructing him how to do it, He chose to try the repairs himself. On December 8th 2015 I was again contacted by Mrs [redacted] stating that her furnace did not work, I agreed to come out to the house to look at the problem. When I got to the house Mr [redacted] took me to the furnace, at which point I again told him that there would be a $120.00 trip charge due to the labor portion of the warranty being expired. After diagnosing the problem I explained that this may be a 3 step process to solve the issue, again I explained that there would be a $120.00 charge for the labor, but that there would be no charge for any needed parts. As I started the first step in the repair process Mrs [redacted] came downstairs and asked if I would forgive the trip charge, I told her that while I did emphasize with her about the furnace having issues 16 months after install, that I could not work for free, after asking several more times for free labor she then demanded that I leave her house. She then left and went upstairs. I was at the point that the first step to fixing the issue was complete and I started the furnace, it ran trouble free for 5 minutes, so I packed up my tools and left. As I left I let Mrs [redacted] know that I would be sending an invoice and it was her choice whether to pay it or not.On my way home I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that she would like to work this out before reporting me to the Revdex.com. At this time I called Mrs [redacted] and let her know that there would be no $120.00 charge for the visit. She agreed that the matter was concluded and that everything was OK.On December 10 2015 I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that her furnace had shut down again. I was out of town signing for our new home, but I asked Mrs [redacted] if she had her warranty information, she stated that she did not. I found and forwarded the email containing the information needed to receive warranty work from any local Carrier dealer, at this time I also informed Mrs [redacted] that I was relocating to the west side of the state and that this would be a good opportunity to find a local contractor. After talking to Mrs [redacted], Mr [redacted] then called to ask me what was going on, I let him know that I was out of town signing on a new house and would not be back in town until December 14th or 15th and that I did not want them to not have a working furnace. I explained that there was a warranty on the parts and any local Carrier furnace company would honor the warranty. I also stated that if he wanted to wait until I came back in town, I would come over to work on the furnace. On December 16th 2015 I received an email from Mrs [redacted] thanking me for sending the warranty information to her, but that she would be reporting me to the Revdex.com anyway. She also stated that she was able to find a local company that would honor the warranty and not charge her for the labor. On December 18 I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that there was now a $400.00 charge from the second heating company that she used, and that she would have no heat untilMondayand that she would be adding this to the Revdex.com report she had filed. To sum up, Mrs [redacted] removed me from her house before I could complete the repairs to her furnace, I did not charge her for the visit that I made, I helped her with the warranty information when I was out of town, and I offered to Mr [redacted] to come out to the house when I was back in town.I have acted in good faith with this customer, and I do not think that there is anything owed to Mrs [redacted]. Even after the threats of going to the Revdex.com I still helped her as much as I possibly could, and at this point I will no longer be able to provide any services to the [redacted]'s.As far as the furnace being a "bad product" This was a revised model of this particular furnace and the issue that Mrs [redacted] is having was not known at the time of installation.
Please see attached documents.-A Copy of a repair invoice from [redacted]...
[redacted] for a transmission leak that was repaired.-A copy of the Federal Buyers Guide signed by Complaintant acknowledging that the vehicle was sold "AS-IS" with no warranty written or implied. It also shows the vehicle qualified for an extended warranty/service contract through a 3rd party company at an additional charge (which the Complaintant did not consider and opted out.I spoke with the mechanic and manager at [redacted]. They advised me that there was no crack in the transmission when they inspected and diagnosed the repair. The Complaintant made no mention to me of a "slow" transmission leak until they had this major transmission issue approx. 40 plus days later. . Why would you keep driving it and risk a bigger problem? Where has the complaintants son driven the truck? Is it plausible that he took it up in the hills 4 wheeling and hit a rock, cracking the transmission. I do not have control of how and where my cars and trucks are driven once they leave the lot. Complaintant is mistaken when she says "most" dealers stand behind their inventory for 90 days. This is a complete falsehood, especially on cars in this price range. She also cites that "most used car dealers do not honor" the warranties. This is also false. In fact, most warranties are honored through 3rd party warranty companies such as the one I use. If they didn't live up to the terms of the contract, they would be sued over and over until they go out of business. [redacted] (the company I use) has been in business for 30+ years with many paid claims and many satisfied customers..The Complaintants had every opportunity given them to safe guard against a major mechanical issue (warranty offered, could have taken the truck to their own independent mechanic for pre-purchase inspection). I am sorry that they have a mechanical issue with the truck, but I do not care for the implications that I have deliberately deceived and taken advantage of her son. I have sold hundreds of vehicles to satisfied customers at significantly lower prices than my competitors. In he end, I do not have a crystal ball to know when a car will break down and that is why there are "as-is" liability waivers and after market service warranties.Regards,[redacted]Owner5 Star Truck and Auto
