To whom it may concern, [redacted] ’s Nissan Sentra was towed into [redacted] Street Auto Center because her vehicle broke down on her while she was driving and it could not be restartedAfter running diagnostics, our technician determined that the vehicle had a faulty alternator which caused the battery to discharge which resulted in the vehicle breaking down and inability to be restarted(See test #attached) Our service manger called [redacted] to advise her of the faulty alternator and bad battery and present an estimate for replacing them [redacted] authorized [redacted] Street Auto Center to replace the failed components on @ 9:11am by phone [redacted] was NOT charged for diagnostics as she claims in her complaint, she was only charged for the replacement of the faulty alternator and bad battery(see paid invoice attached) After the repair was completed a second test was done to confirm that the new alternator and new battery solved the problem, which they did(See test #attached)The technician and quality control technician road tested the vehicle approximately minutes each and no problems were reportedThe vehicle was operating well at this time [redacted] picked up her vehicle on 3/29/at 4:28pmAbout one week later [redacted] contacted [redacted] Street Auto and stated that the vehicle had broken down againBecause the vehicle broke down in a similar fashion, she believed that the new alternator had gone bad, which is a logical assertionWe advised her that if the new alternator had gone defective, she can have the defective alternator replaced at any repair facility of her choosing, under our warranty program, at no cost to her(see AAA warranty documentation attached)Our nationwide warranty covers repairs for AAA members for a period of months or 24,miles, which ever comes firstApproximately one month later, [redacted] took her vehicle to another repair facility, Mizzoni's Auto Body, to have the alternator checked and replaced under warranty if it tested defectiveWe stayed in touch with both Mizzoni's Auto Body and [redacted] to insure that the problem was handled correctlyMizzoni's Auto Body's test results revealed that the alternator we installed was working just fine and something else had caused the vehicle to break down this timeIt’s unfortunate that her vehicle developed another problem but [redacted] Street Auto Center cannot be held responsible for every new problem that emerges on the vehicle just because we replaced her alternator in the pastWe advised [redacted] that although the vehicle broke down twice in relatively close time periods, it must be noted that there are so many different reasons that can cause a car to break downThis can be difficult fact for the average automobile owner to understandShe has to accept the fact that her vehicle has a new problem, which is completed unrelated to the alternator problemThe second break down allegedly occurred due to a transmission problem which is an entirely different problem that was not present while the vehicle was in our careA transmission problem would have easily been detected by either the repair technician or quality control technician during the road tests [redacted] is proposing that the transmission problem caused both the first and second break downs to occur and the alternator failure was a misdiagnosis [redacted] is misinterpreting the facts and making claims because she upset that her vehicle developed another problem that she has to take responsibility forHad we not replaced the faulty alternator and battery, she would have never been able to drive the vehicle out of [redacted] Street Auto Center in the first placeWe invited [redacted] back to our repair facility to show her exactly how the alternator diagnosis was determined to help her better understand what happened to her vehicleShe refused [redacted] has already attempted to stop payment on the transactionAfter a brief review, her credit card company denied the chargeback and found her claims unfounded based on the facts described aboveThe alternator that we installed in her vehicle, that she paid for, is operating perfectly fine despite the new transmission problem that she is facing therefore there is no reason to pursue this complaintIf you have any further or concerns questions feel free to contact us at any timeSincerely, Laura S [redacted]
