BUYER BEWARE!

After waiting several months on a wait list, we were notified that the boy kitten we had signed a contract for had been born. For the next 2+ months we received occasional (not the weekly, as promised) updates and photos of "Tom" who was to be our kitten.

Our family was very excited the day we finally picked up "Tom". We thought he perhaps looked lighter in color than the pictures we had been receiving, but we didn't think much of it beyond that and were instantly in love with our little grey ball of fluff. Six days later we took him (now named "Newman") to the vet for his first appointment, only to find out he was in fact not "Tom" after all..."he" was a female cat.

Within a couple of hours of finding this out I contacted the breeder, Jeanne, to let her know of the mistake. We made it clear that we were happy to keep her as we had bonded with her and her with us. She then told me she was sorry for the mix-up and that this was a more expensive cat than the one we were originally supposed to get but that "she wouldn't charge us the difference." I told her that not only would we not be paying her more money for her mistake, but that as this was a pretty significant mistake for a certified breeder to make, we would like to know what reparations she felt were appropriate to offer us, such as for the money we spent on "boy" cat beds, toys, collars, etc. After becoming irate and hanging up on me, she proceeded to send me emails over the next several days telling me that I should have contacted her sooner and that this "reaks of a real swindle.” She went on to say that if I planned to defame her with a bad review "based on [my own] failure to notify [her] of the mistake immediately" she "can and will seek damages if [I] seek to hurt [her] reputation based on a complete mistake that [I] waited almost an entire WEEK to tell [her] about." Then threatening me that, "I'm sure [I] wouldn't add anything about that in [my] review, would [I]? So go for it if [I] feel lucky."

She continued on that she "thought from much earlier on that [I was] a very high maintenance person who thinks more highly of herself than she "ought," and that she can "hardly imagine the audacity [I] must have to make the demands that [I'm] making.

Due to this threatening harassment, I told her we do not want any money back, just to be given our cat's information and for her to leave us alone. Come to find out this cat was from a different litter than "Tom" and had a different birthdate. The mother's name she gave me was not listed on their website along with the other "Queens" they breed. So who knows if this cat is even a Siberian... I am planning to report her to the professional breeding association to which she belongs but wanted to warn others to look elsewhere and save yourself the trouble of dealing with this mess.

NOT a nice breeder! Not much knowledge regarding her animalsMakes me sad

Buyer Beware! I've just been blind-sighted by Cedars Ranch located in Pueblo, COWe chose Cedars based on their well laid out website and prompt response to my initial inquiry, however I do not recommend this breeder due to her lack of professionalism We had arranged to drive to Pueblo this Saturday to pick our kitten after being on a wait-list for nearly a year only to have the breeder become extremely rude over email She terminated our contract based on a misunderstanding in an email message and at this point she has not returned our phone call to allow for an explanation We are now back to square one with researching breeders and my year old is heartbroken If you are looking to purchase a Siberian kitten or a Havanese puppy, stay away from Cedars RanchThe owner behind the operation (Jeanne) seems severely emotionally unbalanced, rude and horrible with communication at a professional (if not personal) level

+2

Although, I had a pleasant communication with Jeanne of Cedars Ranch when I was interested in purchasing Siberian kittens, and she was nice enough to fly to me with both kittens after I agreed to cover her travel expense, I never received the papers for the kittens after I proved they were spayed through my vet I had sent no less than emails to both addresses listed on her site, to which I received no reply
Furthermore, one of the kittens seemed too young to be separated from her mother at weeks and had severe behavioral issuesShe was antisocial, depressed and quite aggressive, attacking and biting me when I'd pet her or even if I was merely next to herThe other kitten was very docile, however I had no issues with her, but her "mother's" picture (who didn't have much of a Siberian look to her in comparison to the others) on the website was switched out a few months later with an entirely different cat who I suspect is one of my kittens sisters

NOT a nice breeder! Not much knowledge regarding her animals. Makes me sad.
