7-Day Clinic Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/07/06) */
When the patient presented with lesions in his mouth, the provider examined them and based on her expert opinion decided to treat for both canker sores and cold sores; which is the correct medical standard process at 7-Day Clinic.
Speaking...

to the mother's complaint that she was told that canker sores are the same as cold sores, may have been a communication error during the visit. Canker sores MAY BE caused by the herpes virus; even if there may not be active cold sores present. Again, this is why our provider treated for both with the appropriate prescriptions to treat either diagnosis.
In regards to the mother's request to not pay her bill- we do not believe we should be required to reimburse. The child was seen at the clinic, examined by the provider (expert), diagnosed, and he was treated for the symptoms he presented with.
Thank you.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2015/07/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I can see why they would think there was a mistake in communication since any expert should know canker sores and cold sores are two different things but there was no mistaking what she said when I asked if what he had could have been canker sores instead of cold sores. Its scary to think this person is treating other people right now. After researching I found that if he had cold sores he would have had other symptoms - a fever, swollen lymph nodes and/or a headache. Also, cold sores are rare in the mouth. But if the "expert" believes cold sores and canker sores are the same then I can see why she did not check/ask about these other symptoms. I believe if I would have taken my son to a real expert he could have received the right prescription and possibly been able to eat that day. What he was prescribed did nothing. He ended up taking an antiviral for no reason. He was put at risk to due to the list of possible side effects but I suppose that's no big deal to the provider. He ended up losing 10 lbs and he was miserable for days. I understand people make mistakes so I am asking for accountability from this provider, to admit they made a mistake and try to rectify it. Nothing was offered by the provider, not even cutting the bill in half.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2015/07/17) */
I have spoken at length with my Medical Director and he has thoroughly looked through the patient's visit and all correspondence via the Revdex.com.
Having completed his official review of the case- he has ruled that this visit was carried out exactly as he would expect any of his providers to do. The patient present with lesions in the mouth. The provider examined them and based on what she saw, she determined them to be cold sores. Her treatment was the medically appropriate response.
Thank you.
