Review: They ruined a beautiful silk shirt, a shirt that we had specifically taken to a high-end dry cleaner and specifically discussed with the cashier because it features a pattern of tiny holes. When we went to pick it up, half of the holes had been enlarged through their neglect. The cashier apologized for the damage, spoke to the [redacted] by phone, and said we would need to return to speak with him in person for a refund.
When we returned with the shirt on a weekend, the store was empty, but the [redacted], he said was his name) didn't even want to speak with us. His first response was "I heard about you, you damaged the shirt, if you want something you'll have to take me to court." He did not deign to discuss the damage or even look at the purchase receipt we had brought. When we asked him not to yell at us or walk away, he alternated between calling my fiance a cry-baby (?!) and refusing to speak with her (presumably because she's a woman?), threatening to call the police (which we would have been fine with), yelling some more, blaming us for the damage, and telling us that the only thing we'd get from him would have to be through court.Desired Settlement: I think the business has a responsibility to at least deal with its customers in an honest and respectful manner. In this case, there were several things the [redacted] could have done, including sending the shirt to a third-party verification service, or just providing a basic refund and some sort of in-store credit. The [redacted] did not even want to discuss any of these options. Replacing the shirt will be difficult, as it was purchased abroad. But the least he can do now is apologize and refund us most (if not all) of the cost of the brand-new shirt he ruined.
