Monday 09/16/2013. I spoke with [redacted] advised him I had a problem with my door. It had fallen that morning and was opening and closing randomly. He asked for my address and a time he could come. I told him I'd be here at 2PM. I asked how much the service call was and he quoted $29.95. I said come and tell me what's wrong. He arrived at 3:30PM . He looked at the door and went directly to his truck, got his tools and told me my problem was a kink in my spring. He proceeded to release tension on the spring and turned 2 knobs on the back of the control unit on the ceiling and sprayed some lubricant on my rollers he said to make the door quieter. After he finished and I had raised and lowered the door a few times, he walked to his truck and sat inside about a minute. He approached me in the garage and handed me a bill for $149.95. I gasped. He did not review what he was going to do or advise it was going to cost more than a service charge. I paid him $100.00 cash and the balance on my debit. I asked him where the charge came from and he advised it was the minimum if he touched anything. Tuesday I called to complain at the [redacted] number and talked to a young lady that later told me the technician was her husband. I advised I was surprised by him just handing me a bill for services without discussing anything with me. She said he normally discusses what he's going to do and what the charges are when he's at the home. I got nothing. I have used this company before and they always talked with me and advised of a solution and charges for services and gave me a choice whether to go ahead with the repairs before anything was began by the technician. On 09/18 the door would not open or close. I called back and told the girl what was happening. She said she'd send him back. I said no. I was afraid of him charging me more. He called me later and told me he'd credit my money paid on Monday to a new opener he could install right then for $299.00. My door is working randomly. Same issue as Monday.
