A-1 Automatic Transmission Service

On 12/05/2011 I took my car in for a noise inside the transmission. The owner of the repair shop said that the problem was a bad transmission and that it needed to be rebuilt. He said the total price for the job would be $1400.00. I agreed to pay that price. He kept the car and called me when it was fixed. I went to pick up the car and pay the agreed price. At this time he handed me a bill ($1671.97) for a lot more money then what he had initialy told me. I questioned why and he stated he had mis quoted me. Take notice that he did not contact me in anyway to advise me of any change in price. After a short argument in this topic, he said that either I pay him the total amount due and sign the receipt of vehicule, he would not release my car. so I paid him and left. About a week later, The car all of a sudden would not shift into gear and had to be towed to this shop again because it was a transmission issue. He claims that the shifter cable was bad and had to be replaced. They installed it inproperly when they rebuilt the trans and it came off. Now they refuse to honor there warranty and bad repair. He then says its $350.00 to replace the cables.I have no choice but to say , fix it. When I go pick up the car , again he changes the price to $728.62. For a mistake they orig comitted. Again, he held my car hostage unless I paid him in full. He would not accept a credit card despite advertising credit cards are accepted. This shop is very dishonest. And has no respect for MA law regarding repair shops. He violates the law on every aspect of it. He damaged the shift cables and later made me pay for his mistake. This shop is not honest and is very decitful..
