Complaint[redacted]What follows is detailed history of our involvement with A1 Choice Cabinets. As of today's date, we have not heard from the company.October 12- Nov. 12, 2012: Kitchen cabinets were installed (total cost $ 22,921.58) May - Dec, 2013: We began to notice areas of the cabinets where the stain was peeling/flaking off. We applied the touchup stain (left behind by installers) with unsatisfactory results. During this time, I made several calls to the A1 Choice Cabinets office, explaining the problem. The majority of these calls were either not returned or, if I did speak with [redacted] (owner), an appointment was set up for him to come and inspect the cabinets, however, he did not show up for the scheduled appointment on 2 different occasions during this time frame. Jan - Dec, 2014: I persisted to make contact with A1 Choice Cabinets ([redacted]), who continued to miss service calls and not reply to follow up calls, as he claimed he would. During the occasional phone conversation that would occur, [redacted] was informed that the cabinets continued to show peeling/flaking of stain -- [redacted] stated that there was clearly a problem with either the stain or the wood, but confirmed that this definitely should not be occurring. Jan - March, 2015: I continued to call A1 Choice Cabinets. During one call, I was directed to a man stating that he was the "older brother" in the family -name not known. I explained the long history we had with the company and our frustration with still not having the cabinets fixed. He agreed to come and inspect the cabinets. He kept this appointment and the stated that there was clearly a problem (? with the stain) and that he would arrange for each problem area to be removed, re- sanded and re-stained. April 27, 2015: Cabinet pieces that had showed peeling/flaking were refinished and re- installed on this date, to our satisfaction. No receipt/statement was provided to us at that time. In the weeks to follow, [redacted] called the office several times (estimated 4x) and requested that a statement be mailed to us outlining the work that was done, the date installed and the stain that was used, for our reference. This was never provided to us. Oct. 2015 - Jan. 2016: Cabinets are, again, showing evidence of peeling/flaking -- somein the same areas as before and many are in new places. [redacted] called to A1 Cabinets (3x) advising that the cabinets were, again, showing problems. During one conversation, [redacted] stated that he believed there could be a problem with the wood and suggested that the company change/replace the cabinet pieces that appear to be "not holding the stain properly". [redacted] stated that how the company chose to repair the cabinets was their decision, however, given the excessive delays and unsatisfactory customer service, we wanted this problem resolved asap. [redacted] agreed and stated that he would call back in a "couple of days" with a date for the installers to come and remove the cabinet pieces. This call did not occur, therefore, [redacted] called [redacted] and set up the date of Monday, Feb. 1 @ 11:00am for he and the installers to come and remove the cabinet pieces.Feb. 1, 2016: No show from A1 Choice Cabinets. No phone call.March 18, 2016: Still no word from A1 Choice Cabinets. Letter of concern sent to company - advising that further action will be sought if the cabinets are not repaired and proper documentation provided (warranty details etc) by April 30, 2016. Desired SettlementWe believe that we have been more than patient and accommodating with A1 Choice Cabinets. Satisfactory resolution from A1 Choice Cabinets must include the following: 1. All kitchen cabinets piece that are showing any sign of peeling/flaking be removed and repaired. If the company finds that there is, indeed, a problem with their wood product "not holding the stain", then a permanent solution (ie. replacement) must be sought. 2. Any service calls regarding the cabinets must occur on a Saturday so that both home owners are present. We have lost employment days due to booking off work and A1 Choice not showing up for the schedule service call. 3. All work completed ( including warranty expectations) will be clearly detailed in writing by A1 Choice Cabinets. This documentation must clearly indicate what the plan will be should the same problem re-occur -- and a commitment by A1 Choice Cabinets to address the problem quickly. 4. A1 Choice Cabinets agrees to pay for professional cleaning services (main floor) after installation occurs, as our home has recently been renovated.
