A-1 Concrete & Masonry, Inc.

Review: On 31 July 2013, we agreed to a contract with [redacted], [redacted] of A-1 Concrete & MAsonry, Inc. He gave us a bid for $5,950 and asked for 50% down. We gave him a check for $2,975 and there was a verbal agreement to complete the work before the end of concrete season. We waited until October to call and ask when the driveway would be done. After a few calls and late in November, he got back to us and said we would be first next year. We would be sent some paperwork and would be first on the list for the next year. We did not receive any paperwork from him.

In April 2014 we started calling at the only number we had. Many times we called, then my husband said he would stop by his house which he also lists as a business address. Mr [redacted] then returned our call and told us someone had stolen money from him and he would have to get a bank loan. We just wanted our money back and asked for it by 20 May 2014. We have heard nothing.

We found another couple that had contacted [redacted], [redacted], from the [redacted]. They had the same problem and it took a lot of calls but he got their money back for them. I contacted him for assistance and Mr [redacted] said he doesn't go after the same person twice. He advised that it took numerous calls and maybe we should hire an attorney. I do not want to spend our money yet just ato get our money back! The dates we called him are approximate, we have called and left at least 10 messages and he has responded back to us one time. That was when he said he would send us a check but that has not happened.

Now we are leary of hiring another contractor and will wait to get a new driveway and sidewalk in the rear of the house.
