Just purchased my home and what i'm most upset about is that as a client they're trying to make a fool out of me excusing their poorly performed job on finishing touches, I'm and architect, interior designer with a masters in construction management and the sells lady and the engineers are telling me the porcelain tile is uneven because has a "natural" curve!!! like what?? do they know isn't a real wood?? also the paint outside is not matching because it hasn't dry yetand its been two weeks since we move.....for every low quality installation a very dumb excuse was givingEverything was ok up to the framing stageDrywall was all over the place, sloppy cuts, using nails instead of screws for drywall, taping job was awfulthe floors are uneven, chipped, some tiles were defective and installed anyways, the grout and the thinset was laydown so wrong I found places where grout was missing, or with tiny holes, the walls aren't plumb or level and if you don't want expend the million of dlls on bullnose for the tile at least leave a more descent edge on the tile, the interior doors were installed without being sanded, all had rough edges, the kitchen cabinets are trash, I knew about the cabinets since are builder grade but overspray on doors, drawers with terrible rails when open touch each other, is too much, I honestly think they need to hire a kitchen designer the layout is not functional at allpaint job is not the best i'm still thinking that the color I got was the wrong Navajo white is more white than brown in any paint line...and what is up with leaving the garage unfinish??? doesn't make any sensecrooked switches and outletsOne more thing I read from another review here is the hot water takes forever and i'm an environmental conscious person I used a bucket like the review recommended I fill it and I use it on my plants Because the dripping/irrigation whatever that is doesn't workI know i'm wasting my time I don't expect anything from Hakes at all but at least my review would help to future homeowners like me that are so happy and anxious for buying the first home with so many sacrificesI'm sorry i'm not a happy homeowner the only reason I got a new home is because I don't have time to go thru remodels or even build my own homeEverybody is nice at the beginning but nobody wants to deal with the fixes after the contract has been signed

We have been in our house for three months now and we love it! It really is a great house, except for one major problemThis problem is one that we didn't notice until after closing and had been in the house for a couple of daysOur big problem is, it takes us a ridiculous amount of time to get hot waterIt takes minutes and seconds to get our hot waterThe water heater is already on the second highest setting and it still takes that longThis is very irresponsible to waste a minimum of gallons of water every time we need hot waterWater is a precious resource in the first place, but we also live in the desert! Water conservation isn't a choice, it's a necessity! We notified Hakes Brothers and they sent a plumber and contractor outWith out even looking at anything the plumber rudely said "That's just the way these houses areYou need to install a recirculation pump to get it faster"This was extremely frustrating because this is a Brand New Energy Efficient House! Why

I will say that Hakes Brother homes are nice homes in concept, and their display models are beautiful and well built, but their production homes are rushed and poorly executedI purchased a Hakes home months ago and I will have to say the painters and tile contractors did a really really bad job overallThere are so many tiles that are off and uneven, and bathroom tiles did not even match up with the diamond shape design?!?
All the grout throughout the house was left filthy...the grout was supposed to be a dark brown color since I have the premium tile that looks like wood, but instead most of the grout looks grey and white and I was told to scrub it out until it comes out!?!
The painters left paint all over hinges and door handles, and the floor around the base boards had paint all over, and a lot of the walls I am finding were left with really light coats of paint, and even painted over trash so when the wall was wiped I see unpainted spotsI can tell the process was rushed and no consideration was given to the buyer, the seller only seemed to care about selling the home Even though I did get someone to go down to attempt to alleviate some of the issues it is was a sub-par attempt by the "premier" builder in Las Cruces!
I will recommend that if "you" are considering to purchase a Hakes home; to make sure you are on top of the quality control group before you sign off...once you sign off it will be like pulling teeth to correct any issuesI don't understand why Hakes would skimp on important finishing touches...the home seems to be built well, but I don' understand the cutting of corners on the customer first impression about such a large investmentRemember Hakes team that people will be living in these homes and all the un-necessary flaws will surface It is sad when what is considered by some as a lower quality built home (Ken Thurston) has better QC and overall qualityDon't get me wrong my home is nice, but every time I think of how I paid a premium and how my buddy did not and yet the time was taken on his home to deliver on such an important purchase makes me angry and aggravatedSorry Hakes, but I will consider my first experience with you a sub-par experience

We had an amazing experience building our home with Hakes BrothersHenry was our sales rep and he was there for every question we hadOur foreman started out as Miguel and he was just as amazing as Henry for any question we had, he got transferred to the west side so we got Oscar and he's been amazing alsoEveryone in the Hakes Beothers family has been a pleasure to work withWe got a call every other week to let us know where they were with our home, something other builders don't offerWe have been in our home for days now and the small issue we had, they were out within the hour to take care of itWe are so happy to have gone with Hakes for our forever home

Everything from sales to the warranty process and just any questions I had about my house, they always get back to me right awayIt made my buying process so easy and comfortable with all their help

By far one of the worst experienceFrom sales person up to their manager ShellyMisinformation given to us from sales person Henry, making unnecessary comments, missing appointments with us, over promising our home in monthsWe're currently in month 6! He knew my husband was deploying and how important it was to meet our month deadline as close possibleMy realtor, doing her job called Shelly (Henry's Manager) to figure out completionHer response was "our quality is priority, tell your buyer you don't know what your talking about"Not professional at allI felt it was extremely important to hire an inspector before sheet rock went up"Quality" was her explanation I beg to differ with our inspection reportAlso just to add in, whe we're promised to get in full our deposit on the lot back in a check form after we sign, after talking to the bank we're getting some back but not in fullVery disappointing

I had a great experience building my home with Hakes BrothersMy house has had no major problems and I enjoyed working with everyone to build my homeI feel that everything was handled professionally

We dealt with Henry G*** a representative for Hakes Brothers in El Paso Texas in the Desert Canyon subdivision We were told several things that did not come to fruition We stated that the only way we would sign a contract was if there was the ability to place storage shelves in the garage because the model home had no storage (i.ean attic) and this was a deal breakerTo get us to sign Henry stated that he got it approved and it would have to be a work around where we would go to the inspection notice the shelves were not in place and Hakes would put them but since it was a work around we couldn't put it in the contract We also requested certain things such as electrical outlets be placed in certain areas inside the house We requested a wine rack be placed where a cabinet was, however, Henry stated this couldn't be done because the owners were Mormon and wouldn't build it
