The $100 charged was for the core for the carburetor that he had to purchase from somewhere else. He said that he cannot refund any portion of the work performed because he had advised against it and it was not guaranteed to work, but that the customer can bring back in the core, and he will refund the $100.

Review: A-1 G&V Towing & Repair was contracted by my BP Motor Club to tow my disable pick-up truck from [redacted] to his service location at 601 N Mecklenburg Avenue, South Hill VA.The owner, Mr. [redacted], stated that he was sure it was the carburetor and stated that he could fix the problem. After a week passed my wife called to see if the truck was ready. The owner said it was not. A week later my wife contacted owner again to see if the truck was ready. It was not. An urgent request was made to owner to finished repair work. Finally he said it would be finished by Thursday, which was 2 weeks later. I got a call on Thursday that the truck was repaired and ready to be picked up . I arrived at desk to pay. The desk person presented a bill for the amount of $1,099.45. I offered my [redacted] credit card and he stated he charge 5% for credit card payment, so I went to bank and paid cash and saved $50. After paying cash in the amount 1,099.45 I got the keys to my truck and attempted to drive it off. My truck was not fixed... was not drivable, and was worst than before it was towed. I asked if I could have my money back and his attendant said he would keep the truck and said it will cost us a $100 to get our own carburetor back that was taken off.I wanted it back because there was nothing wrong with the carburetor he too off. I was charged $100 to get my own carburetor back.I had to take my truck to another repair shop to find our that it was not the carburetor but the fuel pump that was not functioning, I feel the owner should have made some reduction in my bill being that he did not fix my truck.Desired Settlement: The mark-up on carburetor is too high. I am willing to pay one half of the total amount charged which will equal $550.00. I feel this is fair being I have to pay another mechanic to fix my truck.
