A 1 Hauling

Horrible company! They were late to the site by an hour and a halfThey brought a sister and their childI told them I had a bed and couch to move that was included in a small apartment of furniture
However because I only stated a bed I did not let them know it was a frame and headboard includedThey never took itI know that I mentioned a couch but they said I never didAs the owner be hff an to write up a receipt of the items that they agreed to takeShe began to swear at me and when I asked her to apologize she swore some moreUnprofessional companyYou get what you pay forWill NEVER reccomend this company to anyone not even my own enemy One last noteThere was a box TV that I paid to have movedIn all of her heated cursing and yelling at her employees who were trying to keep the peaceAhauling is the worseHeed my warning and call someone else

When I contacted A-1 Hauling to see if they could remove a few items from my garage prior to the closing date of the sale of my condo, I was told that he ([redacted]) could not give me an estimate over the phone. His ad in the Yellow Pages clearly states "Free Estimates" and "Reasonable Rates". He would give me an estimate when he could see what I had for him to haul away. We scheduled the date and time for Fri, August 3, 2012 at 8 am. The closing for the sale of my condo was at 1 pm on that same day.[redacted] arrived on time, looked over the items in the garage (~ 12 old paint cans; a toilet and tank; a rolling plastic garbage container; a small 3-drawer plastic storage unit; an ironing board; about 6-7 empty cardboard boxes, folded; a couple of small empty cardboard boxes, a small kitchen sized bag of rubbish). Loaded the items, no estimate yet, talked about how high gas prices were and how far he had to drive to get rid of the items he was hauling away.It took him approx.10 min max. to load the back of his pick-up truck. The items did not even cover the entire bed of the truck, nor did they come up over the sides. After he had everything secure/covered, I asked again how much. He said the price would be $600.00. This was 8:16 am. I blanched in complete shock. I only had $200 cash with me and he refused to take a check for the difference. I told him my credit union wouldn't open until 9 am. We both waited. At 9 I picked up the extra $400 and drove back (approx. 5 mins). When I handed him the $600 in cash I asked for a receipt. He didn't seem to understand what I wanted. He tore off a pg from a legal pad, wrote hauling trash and my address. I then said I wanted him to put down the amount I paid him. He gave me an unsigned sheet of paper with no company name.I believe that I was charged an overly exaggerated price to haul he small amount of trash that I had. I've never paid over $200 for a trailer full of trash prior to this.
