A 1 Moving Company Reviews (2)

Review: A1 moved us from Meyersdale, PA to Johnstown, PA on July 10, 2013. I thought they did a good job until I found out two weeks later when dusting that they had broken a big chunk out of my right piano leg. It had been neatly set in place so I wouldn't see it. I had told them to be very careful with the piano because that leg was weak. It had been cracked 9 yrs. ago and repaired. (NOT A 1+ INCH CHUNK OUT OF IT!!!) When moving the piano they were trying to be very careful but on the last set down, they left it drop hard. The piano was at the back of the truck and should have been taken off when they were rested. Instead, they took it off last after a very long day and they were exhausted as we all were. Here's the problem. When my husband I called them about the big chunk break, they NEVER returned our many calls. This went on for four months. All the while we kept getting calls from the man who repaired the piano that he wanted his money. Last month - sometime in November - my husband called and threatened John - the A1 mover boss- with legal action. Well, that got a response. He called me immediately and expressed his dislike of being threatened. I talked calmly and expressed all my concerns. He made excuses that it was his brother's fault for not getting back to me - he handled the money end - and that since the piano leg was weak, their insurance wouldn't cover the claim. He said to cover the claim he would have to pay out of his pocket. We ended the conversation by him agreeing to pay $30 of the $53 repair bill. He never paid. He lied. I tried to call today and no one answered as usual.A1 doesn't answer customer calls and concerns, they don't keep their word, they don't pay for damages, and aren't trustworthy. It's with much sadness and disappointment that I file this complaint. You may think that $53 isn't much to worry about, but I have a lot of bills and am stuck paying another because of the lack of integrity of the people who run this business.Desired Settlement: I want A1 to pay the whole $53.00 repair for the piano leg because they have been negligent in correspondence and dishonest. I sadly can't recommend them to anyone in Johnstown and am still considering legal action. I will be talking to three attorneys.
