A-1 Paving

This is a follow up to my earlier positive review, which was submitted the day after the asphalt was installedMy new driveway/parking area is only two months old and is already starting to settle and buckleDeveloping high and low spots, and in addition, grass and weeds are already starting to sprout through the asphaltIt is obvious that the base was not prepared properly and the asphalt was laid too thinI expressed concerns about how thin it was as they were installing it and the owner assured me that it was perfectly acceptable(It was laid approximately 1.5" thick on top of the base.) My next door neighbors have an asphalt driveway/parking area that is several years old and there are no high/low spots and I've never seen weeds poking up through it so I know it's not the environment I guess this is what I get for being a sucker for a "nice guy" and going with the lowest bidNext time I will find a reputable company and pay accordinglyI'm so disgusted with how poorly the asphalt is "maturing" that I don't even want this company back out here...probably nothing they could do but rip it up and redo the base (and lay a thicker layer of asphalt) now anyway

Bill kept in patient contact with me for about two months because he was so busy it took that long to get me scheduled for a new driveway and parking area for my duplexOnce he was able to get me scheduled he and his crew put in a long hard day and did an amazing jobNot only did he put in a brand new asphalt drive and parking, he also patched some potholes in an existing access, striped my new lot (spaces) and even cut in and graveled the areas I am looking to have concrete poured inHis crew was polite and responsive, and they did a fantastic jobI'm planning to purchase more investment properties and I will use Bill for all my paving needsHe bent over backwards to make sure I was happy with every detailI could not have asked for more

I had *** come and provide me with a quote about two years ago to "Tar and Chip" my driveway He was the lowest quote which should have signaled me to avoid his company After having difficulty with his equipment, the job took another day or two to complete We avoided driving on the driveway for a day or two longer than suggested Ultimately, the driveway did not last for even a year I repeatedly called him and left messages but they were not returned My only saving grace to this story was that a water main busted in the middle of my driveway and I had to have the whole driveway re-paved I did not even consider contacting A-to do the work a second time as I was completely unsatisfied with their work I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone If you have any paving work that needs to be done then AVOID THIS COMPANY!! I feel so strongly about this that I am writing a review two years later
Also, he did work for my neighbor who lives up the road and she was unsatisfied as well She was unable to get in touch with him to have the necessary repairs done to her driveway

Hands down, the most unprofessional contractor I have ever dealt with. I hired A-1 to install an asphalt driveway over an existing gravel driveway. Throughout the experience, it became very apparent to me they take no pride in their work. I told the owner and the owner's son(foreman) what I wanted multiple times when they came to give an estimate, when they were performing the gradework, and when they were actually paving. I always received a "Yes sir, we'll take care of that," "We can do that," "No problem, sir." None of what I wanted was actually communicated to the crew, though. In hind sight, it seems like they didn't even care what I, the paying customer, wanted. The contractor seemed like they were only concerned with putting asphalt down as quickly as they could and moving on to the next job. In fact, half way into paving, they actually admitted to me they can't do what they initially told me they could. They also said they would fix the ruts their equipment put in my yard, but they didn't. They said they would clean up before they left, but I still had to pick up empty water bottles and cups, gloves, and countless cigarette butts. When they left my house, they actually drove through some fresh asphalt and put 2-3" deep ruts in the surface. I'm really not satisfied with the whole experience. The professionalism was non-existent. The quality of the work is lacking. I don't recommend this contractor to anyone. Stay away from A-1.

Poor paving of new drive way. Concrete cracked on main drive/parking area.
Earlier this year we contracted with A-1 Paving ([redacted])to have our drive way paved. $3,950 was paid for this service. I feel the paving was a rush job. It was done in one day and into the late evening, turning dark. It was on a Friday and when I gave one of the helpers a check for payment upon getting a statement the owner rushed to the bank to cash the check before the job was even complete. The drive way holds water, the edges are not straight, the end of the drive is not finished (one side curves out the other does not match). There are holes in the pavement/chipping and is not smooth. The corner of the parking area concrete was cracked, nothing was said about this at the time.
