Thanks for encouraging me to address this. She called our office to set up the surgeryShe said she would be driving three hours to have thesurgery doneShe originally wanted dew claw removal, ear crop, and repair of a large umbilical herniaIexamined her puppy and recommended no dew claw
removal due to being firmly attached dewclawsIalso recommended no breeding for the puppy since the umbilical hernia could be a genetic flawShesaid the breeder was going to reimburse her for the umbilical surgeryI asked what she desired for theear cropShe had a picture of her other Great Dane which had a medium length with a mild bell shape. After the pre-anesthetic blood work, her female had the ears cropped to a medium length with a mildbellThe large umbilical hernia was repairedWe also did a nail trim at no chargeI called the ownerpostop and said the puppy would be ready to go home after noonShe picked up the puppy and paid forboth the surgeries. She returned at PM and was unhappyShe said "The length is alright but the bell is too wide." Weboth compared the puppy's ear crop back to her Great Dane's pictureI said "I want you to be happyIam already booked with appointments the rest of todayIf you bring him back tomorrow, I will trim thebell back at no charge tomorrow." She said "No it is too far to drive." I offered to keep the puppyovernight at no charge and then do the surgery tomorrowShe said "I live three hours away and I willnot leave her overnight." I offered to trim the bell back next week at her convenience if that would help.I want her happy, but she was not happyShe walked out. Thanks again,Jeff AP***, DVM

I am rejecting this response because: he never once said he wanted me to be happy, he shrugged his shoulders and was like well come back another day and do it againTalked down on me as if I didnt know about ear cropping (i have other danes who are cropped) ? He didnt even remember who I was when I went back into the officeHe thought I was a 100% new patientHe told me if I wanted them fixed I would have to pay yet againThe ears are not even at allMy vet said the hernia could have been better repaired but it was at least better then it had beenMy vet is untrained as far as ear cropping goes but even stated you can see the ears are not even.?
? Attached are photos of her (he apparently doesnt even know the patient because it is a female not male puppy) directly after surgery when we were still sitting in the parking lotYou can see a difference in the earsAlso attached are a few days after I gave them time to heal and got them up, you can see a very noticable differenceThe job should have been done correctly the first timeIt should not have been up to me to drive another hours one way, take another day off work, and for the pup to be put under again, as well as pay him again for a job that should have been done right the first timeNow she has to go to a different vet, and get them redone and yet more money.?
Regards,

I am rejecting this response because: he never once said he wanted me to be happy, he shrugged his shoulders and was like well come back another day and do it again. Talked down on me as if I didnt know about ear cropping (i have 5 other danes who are cropped)  He didnt even remember who I was when I went back into the office. He thought I was a 100% new patient. He told me if I wanted them fixed I would have to pay yet again. The ears are not even at all. My normal vet said the hernia could have been better repaired but it was at least better then it had been. My normal vet is untrained as far as ear cropping goes but even stated you can see the ears are not even.
