A A Action Painting & Powerwashing Reviews (2)

Review: [redacted] XXXXXXX)was hired to paint the house a porches. I needed carpentry work done and they brought in AAAction Painting & Construction (no HIC provided). They built and replaced the back porch stairs. They tried to use old wood, which I caught them doing, and made them use new wood. They were supposed to use pressure treated wood, which I was just told by another carpenter, is not pressure treated wood. But the main problem is they built the porch with the wrong size screws, too short, (which he admitted to doing after we told him what happened) causing the top stair to fall off when someone was walking down the stairs, causing the person to fall down the flight of stairs and got hurt only 2 days after he installed them. I called [redacted], the carpenter, who returned to my house that evening and I showed him what happened. Again he admitted he used the wrong size screws and should have used longer ones when he built the steps. I have asked him to refund my money so I can get it properly rebuilt and he refuses to do so. I can't trust what he has done with the remainder of the stairs, i.e. the frame, because you can't see it unless it's pulled apart. I need to get this rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing. At this point I have had a carpenter come and put more screws in the steps, to avoid anyone else falling down the stairs, until I can get it rebuilt.

$1700.00 for the cost of the staircase that he charged me plus the cost of the person's medical treatment that fell down the stairs. I don't mind paying for this person's medical visit to the doctor but would like my money returned so I can have this staircase build by someone correctly.

I paid [redacted] of AAAction Painting & Construction by check in the amount of $1700.

I was hired to rebuild existing stairs at Mr [redacted] property. He was present at the whole time we were building his stairs and we assured him that it was being built to his satisfaction. He gave us the OK when we reinforced the stairs to his satisfaction. I also added extra support underneath his stairs to his request. I made sure he walked up and down the stairs to make sure he was satisfied and he gave me the OK and was happy. He called me and told me a step came off his stairs and I came back asap to take a look and fix the problem. He told me the step had short screws on it and I told him I would put longer ones right away. He literally used profaned language consistently and told me leave his property. I begged him to let me fix his step that would have taken a few minutes but again did not let me do anything to make him happy.

As a contractor I am obligated to come back and fix anything that was not satisfied with a customer. I came back right away and was shocked and embarrassed by Mr [redacted] foul language and decision not to even let me fix this problem. All wood used on his stairs were all pressure treated wood. I showed him what I purchased and showed him the receipt.

I do agree with Mr. [redacted] I did use foul language because I was upset that some got injured on my property due to his negligence in building the stairs. A person fell down the entire flight of stairs. I did not want him to do any further work because as a contractor he should have done the work correctly in the first place. I was onsite (home) while he was building the stairs but I'm not a carpenter, otherwise I would have built them myself, and did not approve any materials he was using. I do know that he wanted to use some of the old wood to build them and I stopped him from doing that and made him go buy new wood. I told him that's what I was paying for, new wood. I did not know the screws were too short until the step fell off and you saw there was only the tip holding the step in place. It never really went down into the wood much. The handrails are all unfinished wood that's split and people cannot move their hand on them or they get splinters. I didn't realize that until after he was gone and I used the handrail. The back to the stairs is not pressure treated wood which I did pay for. My daughter kept telling me that when you walk down the stairs it isn't right. She put a level on them and the steps are not level which causes your footing to be off balance. Why would I want this person to do anymore work on my home. You can't trust him, it wasn't done right from the start and it should have been. I want someone who is not going to rip off an 81 year old man. Until I can get them redone I hired another carpenter who came up the next day and put longer screws in all the steps.
