Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There is not a clear and concise offer included in the response from [redacted]. His letter dated Feb 26th, 2015 is full of fabricated lies to cover his lack of leadership as a primary professional contractor for my home addition project ($200K+). He states in his email note attachment that he is done and is not going to do anything else. If you read both notes carefully he is telling me to coordinate close outs of permits with his subs.
I will send my documented formal response and email attachments to this complaint directly to [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The offer that A&A is making is not conclusive for the contractual obligations in our contract with them. For example, they have not completed their scope of work (install hot water heater and sidewalk on the front of my home). During the last 15 months on the job, a punch list was put in place addressing the many flaws in their workmanship. This list was ongoing and every time a draw was requested, I paid them and got confirmation from Mr. [redacted] that these PUNCHLIST items would be completed at the end of the contract prior to inspection. Those items have not been addressed and I have asked numerous times via email and verbally for a schedule and plan for completion. My home has not had final point up for drywall and the interior and exterior requires caulk, drywall and paint. The county inspector does not consider cosmetic items as code failures. [redacted] came to my home last Friday when the inspector was here. I had put blue tape on all the flawed areas and they just ignored them and never mentioned when they would complete the actions involved. I will send the inspectors rejection to [redacted] for the records. I spoke to the inspector and he said that they could not enforce cosmetic issues upon the contractor. [redacted] Once [redacted] commits and agrees to complete all the PUNCHLIST items and the inspection items, I would entertain monetary consideration for items not completed.

Review: I hired A&A Homebuilders on Nov. 11, 2013 to build a home addition onto my existing 30 year old home. I took my life savings and invested it into my home to make my home senior citizen friendly so I could take in my 89-year-old father and mother. My home addition plans included a master bath and bedroom on the lower level and a sunroom with a full bath. I set my RFP to 3 contractors and chose A&A to perform the work. I was told by the owner that my project would take 3 to 6 months and would be top priority. We are now on the 15th month and my job is not completed. I have experienced tremendous quality issues and schedule delays due to his lack of project management. The [redacted] keeps taking on other jobs and putting mine on the back burner. My father passed away in June 2014 and never got to live in my home. My mother needs to come to my home for her rehab, but I can't bring her here until my home is finished. The contractor has made so many issues within this addition.... He is never present to supervise his workforce. He hires unskilled labor and they have created a mess at my home. He promised he had access to many professional subcontractors to perform my job but he has produced very few professional skilled laborer. I would never recommend him to work on any construction job. He currently got onto a team of subcontractors at [redacted] in Virginia and has focused all of his attention there, and he has left me hanging. I have roofing issues, drywall and paint issues and property damage brought on by his unskilled labor force.Desired Settlement: I want other homeowners and companies to be made aware of the fraud this company has presented to me. I do not want anyone to experience the stress and aggravation brought on from this company ever again. His record should show the negative feedback that homeowners have gone through with him as a prime contractor. I would like to recap my expenses that I have had to take out-of-pocket to make this job continue on. I have had to go out and purchase cabinetry, granite, tile, paint, flooring,..

Response:
To Whom it May Concern,In response to the subject letter, A&A Homebuilders Incorporated
(A&A) adamantly denies the Customer’s account of our business transaction
and believes this complaint is another attempt to harass our business, our employees
and our subcontractors. A&A has been
in business since 1981; from 1984 to 2005 we built hundreds of custom homes, completed
hundreds of remodels all within a range from small construction to million
dollar customer homes. This complaint is
the only complaint A&A has ever received from the Revdex.com. A&A has made every attempt to complete
this job; however the Customer continuously changes the scope of work, expects work
done at no cost, repeatedly stops subcontractors from performing work to badger
them with questions and finally verbally and physically assaults the
Contractor. The following events accrued from November 2013 – February 2015.The customer negotiated the contract with A&A for several months. The Customer said she wanted to make her home
handicap accessible in case her parents ever needed to live with her, however
she did not indicate that was going to happen in the near future, considering the
Customer took 4 months to agree to start work.
She also did not request any handicap ramps to be built to get into
house. A&A did not tell the Customer
the job would be completed in three to six months and a completion date is not
part of the base contract. Furthermore,
it is an unreasonable and unrealistic timeframe to build two large additions (approx.
2,000 Sf including porches and decks)from the ground up that included numerous
subcontractors and customer features. All A&A workers and subcontractors have
over 20 to 30 years’ experience in the construction field.By the time the contract was signed in November 2013, the winter season
started. Starting ground breaking
construction is extremely difficult in the winter considering 2013/2014’s
winter was long and below freezing. To
assist with the below freezing temperatures, A&A supplied tents and
portables heaters for several months to close in the exterior of the home with
siding and stone. The Customer routinely questioned A&A concerning any and all aspects of
the construction and would state her friends, neighbors, family members and
other contractors said the construction was all wrong. The Customer always believed other people instead
of a licensed professional. An example is
the Customer said A&A installed the shingles incorrectly. The Customer wanted shingles installed to
match shingles on existing house because her deceased brother had done the previous
installation. [redacted]hough A&A’s roofer did
not agree with this method and informed the Customer; the Customer
insisted. Then the Customer said the
installation was wrong. A&A had
another licensed roofing professional to inspect A&A’s work. Roofer went on the roof with Customers boyfriend
to show him the similarity of the shingle installation and explain to him how
it was installed. It was this roofers
opinion that the shingles were installed correctly. The Customer has had many roofers come to her
home and look at her roof. She takes
advantage of anyone who will give her a free estimate. Of course they all tell her she needs her roof
replaced because they are in the business to install roofing. We have not had other roofers come out
because we do not like wasting other professionals time. Customer also insisted she had two roof leaks
because there were two spots on her ceilings in different areas of home. One spot was a nail pop, which is easy to fix
and common with new construction the other spot was caused by the Audio installer
when the speakers were installed. A&A
fixed the nail pop. Many of the delays were caused by the Customer not approving and/or
ordering items such as, but not limited to, hardwood flooring, ceramic tile,
lighting fixtures, vanities, granite, and faucets. For example, the Contractor was ready to
install vanities in November, 2014, however the vanities had not been ordered
by the customer. Customer insisted on multiple
quotes from cabinet companies. When the
Customer finally ordered the cabinets, it took another three weeks to receive
them. Customer also demanded another
contractor install them; A&A paid the other contractor. The Customer took another three weeks to decide
on granite (and stated that A&A was rushing her) and A&A expressed our concerns
about the schedule. The front porch was originally part of A&A’s contract, however, after
numerous complaints about our workmanship we decided not to construct Customers
porch. The porch required a separate
building permit (which Customer took months to get approved because of an issue
with her septic tank being too close to new porch. She knew in April, 2014 this permit was
needed). She got her own permit and
hired another contractor and began construction of porch in October, 2014. We could not finish the front of her house
(siding, soffitts, facias, gutters, stone) until she had the porch built. The new contractor took longer than he
predicted. We tried to coordinate work
with him to complete the front of Customers home. Then she decided not to pay A&A for
installation and material for siding, soffitts, shutters and moving original
plumbing pipe on the front of home. The
original draw schedule called for contractor to be paid for these items along
with porch install. After Customers boyfriend took the concrete stoop off front of house they
found a lot of damage to existing bandboards, floor joists and sill plates and
Customer and her boyfriend demanded it was part of A&A’s responsibility (to
repair her existing house). A&A fixed it because he was tired of their
complaints. When Customers boyfriend
removed the front stoop with a backhoe, it has most likely caused issues with
existing home and additions. The Customer constantly requested additional work at A&A’s expense and
expected work at no charge. The Customer routinely would state the Contractor approved
changes and/or additional work; however it was not documented or approved by
both parties. On December 13, 2014, the Contractor went to the Customers home to pick up
his tools. The Customers boyfriend
started verbally abusing the Contractor and then physically assaulted him. Contractor did not know how far he would go
with assault, so he called the Police.
The Police advised Contractor to communicate with Customer by text or
email.On December 19, 2014, A&A ([redacted])met with the Customer to resolve open
actions. She requested copies of the
receipts of costs that were incurred by the Customer. She continually asked for these receipts up
until 2/14/2015. As of that date
Customer had not supplied receipts to A&A.
I told Customer I could give her a check 1/31/2015. I mailed her a check for items I knew
about. The Customer slanders Contractor
to subcontractors, workers, suppliers and anyone else who will listen to
her. She has told many people that we
owe her $29,000. I asked her to quit
telling people we owe her money because I do not feel it is anyone elses
business if A&A owes her or if she owes A&A.On February 12, 2015, Customer asked A&A if her other contractor could
finish her punchlist on 2/14/2015, again at A&A’s expense. A&A agreed to pay the other contractor
$35 an hour. On 2/14/2015, the other
contractor sent a text message stating “Make that $200, she has me doing a lot
but I’ll get it off your plate”. Again,
this is an example of the Customer wanting work done at no expense to her. Later that same day the Customer called
A&A and said the contractor (doing the punchlist)informed her there were a
lot of other items wrong and she wanted A&A to get his ___to her home and
take care of these repairs. She also
said Audio installer was there and he said her house was not framed
correctly. These are the kind of people
she listens to. After this incident of
Customer once again verbally abusing the Contractor, he told her he was
done. See attached email sent to
customer dated 2/14/2015. That was our
last contact with Customer.A&A has one open action, for the Electrician to finish his work. Once that is done, A&A will call for the County
final inspection. If they have
requirements, A&A will take care of their requirements. A&A has made every attempt complete the job.

A & A Homebuilders has built 2 homes for me, finished a basement, and complete several small projects since 2000. The finished product is very beautiful with several extras included.
