On April 15, 2011, I went to A&A Jeweler located at [redacted] because my granddaughter recommend him said he was ok with her. the reason for my visit was to have a diamond ring re-sized that my daughter had given me it was too big. After talking with owner, I had to remove my wedding bank because it was in front of the other ring. He took measurements for ring, said come back at 3 pm. when I went back at 3 pm for daughters ring, everything was ok, paid him $30 for repairs rec #[redacted]. But before I left, owner offered to clean wedding band. After examining it for some time, he asked if I knew it had a broken prong, I said no, 25 years ago, I had a diamond & setting mounted on wedding band, it was one of a kind. After further examining it, owner then told me that the other 3 prongs were worn out and should be replaced. after insisting about 3 or 4 times that I leave my wedding band with him be able to pay him until Wednesday April 20, 2011, owner said that was fine. He then told me that he’ll use the same repair tag and number from my daughters ring not a different one. so I left my, thick, heavy, rounded, fit my finger with no problem wedding band with owner. Shortly after leaving A&A Jeweler, I started to get “gut” feeling about him so I brought daughters ring to another jewelers, [redacted] for a 2nd opinion. Talked to woman who informed me that daughters ring was fine and good so I decided to give A&A Jewelers owner the benefit of the doubt. When I went back on Wed April 20th to pick up my wedding band, owner said he needed 20 more minutes to finish. So I went next door to [redacted] where I ended up talking to one of the employees there about owner and the fact that he was fixing my wedding band. She told me that he brother had a problem with him involving some earrings which ended in a court decision against owner. When I returned to A&A Jewelers, owner brought my ring out told me to look how nice it came out. when I looked at it, I immediately knew it was not my wedding band. When I picked it up, it was too lite, thin, not as rounded. Told him it was a piece of tin and gave it back. owner then asked me to try it on, so I did and it did not fit. Another employee pointed out the fact that it was gold. Then I said I never said it wasn’t gold it’s just not my band. Owner the mumbled something asked me if I knew what it meant, I said no. owner then mumbled something, asked me if I knew what it meant, I said no. owner then said it means “bring me to court.” so I paid him $60 for the wedding band with the diamond attach, asked him for the envelope the ring was in. he said I had it. I then pointed out that he took it because he wanted it for his records. So I told him I’ll see you in court and I left. Went to my car called the [redacted] police and office [redacted] responded. Told him my story, said he would talk to owner. Proceeded to go inside store, was told owner was gone to come back at 3:00. Officer [redacted] informed me that no report would be filed because it was a civil matter. try to follow up with Officer [redacted] but have been unable to contact him. went to police station was told office [redacted] was sick but did give me log #[redacted]
