A & A Transfer and Storage Reviews (1)

A & A Transfer & Storage damaged the linoleum floor from our previous rental homeThey refuse to honor the estimate they had done for the repairs
A & A Transfer & Storage was contracted by the Army to move my household goods from Florida to MarylandThey packed our household goods on the 24th through the 28th of October On the last day of the pack out, two of their movers slid a hutch across our linoleum floor without a moving blanketThere were deep scratches that were made in an area of about square feet of the linoleumI witnessed the movers as they did the damage, and I notified their shift leader Leroy ***
The movers tried to deny that they did the damage, and Leroy had them lift up the bottom of the hutch to see what could have caused the scratchesThere was a nail sticking out with a piece of linoleum on it from the damage they caused to the floorI notified them of the damage that they caused on the "Notification of Damage Form"I was given their manager Mike Ooton's contact information and was told that he would be getting in contact with me
I called Mike on the 31st of October, because he had not contacted me yetWhen I called him he said that they would be hiring "Duggins Services" to complete an estimate of the repairs to get the floor fixedA week went by and I had no updates from A & A Transfer & Storage, so I called Mike againWhen I called on the 5th of November, his secretary said he was in the warehouse and would call me backI explained to her who I was, and she gave me the contact info for Duggins ServicesI called Duggins Services to find out the status of the estimate, and to give them my property manager's contact info since we had just moved from the property
Duggins Services informed me that they would be going out to do the estimate around the 10th of NovemberAfter they did the estimate I was told they were waiting for A & A to authorize the repairs which was quoted as $1,I called Mike on the 13th of November, and he said he would be calling Duggins Services to authorize the repairsI also emailed him on the 14th of November asking for an updateI called Duggins on the 15th of November, and the repairs were still not authorizedI attempted to call mike on the same day, and I was told that he would call me backAnother week went by and I still had no updatesI was in contact with my military move coordinator during this period to try to get an update from A & A as wellMike never replied to my email, and he never called me back
I received an email from Mike Ooton, which had A & A's general manager Ross *** on the CC lineHis email stated that A & A Transfer & Storage believed the damage was minor, and that they were only going to offer me $to repair the floorI replied to his email asking what the amount for the estimate wasDuring that time I called Duggins Services to have them email me a copy of the estimateI then sent another email to Mike and Ross with the estimate and pictures of the damageI told them I wanted their Company to fix the damage that they caused instead of offering me less than 10% of the repair costRoss *** sent an email back stating they remained firm at the $offer even though the estimate from the company they hired was for $1,
I explained to him that you cannot just cut out the portion of damaged linoleum and replace itThen I notified him that I would be talking to the FtMeade legal and claims officeI also called the Mayflower Headquarters to talk about the claim with them as wellI was put in contact with Eric *** and Karl *** but they said they could not do anything because it was a rental property
The chief of the claims division at FtMeade called Ross *** around the 20th of January 2015, and he stated they were still only offering me $He told the claims office that his workers said they didn't do itThis is the complete opposite of what he said during our email correspondence that dealt with his offer of $He admitted in the correspondence that his Company did the damage! Of course they would lie, and their general manager is a liar as wellHe is mad that I gave his business a negative review on the survey that I received from the Army, and the survey that his company gave meIt has been more than months since they damaged the floor, and I still have not received my deposit from my property manager due to A & A's negligenceIf they trained their employees properly then this damage wouldn't have occurred
Here is what Ross Shelley said in an email about their offer
Dear Mr***,
Unfortunately property damage is not covered under full value replacementIt is regrettable whenever property damage occurs, however this is very minor damage in linoleum floor and is not grounds for replacing the entire floor/kitchenYou can understand why an estimate from a floor company could be an exaggeration in order to replace the entire floorThat being said we remain firm at our $offer for damages causedPlease let me know where you would like the check sent

It would seem that his unethical business practices have given him recognition with Mayflower
This was and is the worst moving company that I've ever dealt withThey should not get any more business from the military, because everyone from the manager down to the movers have no integrity They will not take responsibility for the damage they've caused, and I can guarantee if the military made them pay they would
I cannot deal with Army on this issue, and the Army Headquarters for Claims said they only handle damage done to furnitureSo basically, the moving company that you have to deal with for a claim can offer you whatever they wantI will be writing a letter to my congressman to explain how members of the military are getting ripped off when their property is damaged from moving companies that are contracted by the militaryThis needs to change, and these companies need to be held liable for the damage that they causeThe money for the estimate should be automatically taken out of the payment to the moving company
