A Abel Roofing Inc Reviews (5)

Great job, great people, extremely knowledgable and helpful every step of the process. Would highly recommend.

Did a fantastic job. And left everything very clean

I like this company. They seem very honest and transparent. I called and inquired about a gutter issue and a roofing concern. Jeff - I think that was his name - was surprised that I called since I live so far away. Even so, he gave me good advice about what I should do about a leaking gutter and possible damage roof from a neighbor's tree.
He did not have to take his valuable time to stop and speak with me, especially since I was not going to be a customer.
I say all of this to report that I had a good feeling about this company. I also noticed that they had positive ratings from Revdex.com.

Oops. I must have hit Enter...My apologies but will continue where I left off.

In case the previous post was not received, I'll attempt to recreate it here.

My home was in need of being re-roofed, the second layer having outlived it's useful life. My experience, internet searches and speaking with the contractors who answered my requests for quotes, I confirmed a tear off was needed. I contacted 5 vendors for more information and learn more about each company, the product, length of time in business and the warranty they provide.

Not knowing about which shingle is the best, I did some research. The wonderful and exhausting experience that is today's internet leads you down as many paths as you're willing to take in trying to learn about a particular item. When you're spending thousands of dollars, I'd like to know what others who have used the item say about it. I think if you look hard enough, you can find as much negative information about a product as people are willing to share. Suffice to say, after gathering an overwhelming amount of detail, GAF and Owens-Corning products stood out but I couldn't decide who's was better.

The company:
I went with A-Abel Roofing because I like the following about them over the other vendors I contacted. I wanted to go with a local firm, as I try to support local businesses over Commercial vendors as the service has always been friendlier. My sales rep -Scott [redacted] met me at my home and was waiting for me. Not knowing when or if my wife would arrive, Scott started in with information about A-Abel, how it started and how long he and Jeff had been in business together. It gave me a good feeling right away. The body of work and what Scott was able to produce, including a listing of the homes A-Abel had completed in the area, provided me ample homes to view in my area the type of work A-Abel has done. This was not only helpful in allowing me to be at ease with making the decision of a roofing contractor by reviewing what they have done in the past, but confidence in knowing they have roofed many homes and continued to stay in business. My wife arrived almost 10 minutes into Scott's presentation, but he had no problem reviewing from the beginning his presentation. Kudos to Scott for being a professional and thorough, h. His detail about the product they use, the way our home would be roofed, the process of roofing a home, the warranty from A-Abel and [redacted] and materials he left with us made the decision easy. Having made 4 other requests for quotes, no one was more confident, thorough, knowledgeable and professional and why I decided on A-Abel Roofing.

Being a member of the Revdex.com is nice but with no reviews, I thought I should start one for A-Abel Roofing, Inc. Oak Forest, IL. While I've just returned the contract [4.19.2015], I have not yet completed my review of A-Abel Roofing. I would like to follow up with a positive conclusion to it. I will finalize this when the work is completed to my satisfaction. The details on the products they use, how the process will be executed, what would happen if rain is expected, the length of time it will take and the expected outcome, the care taken to cover everything, the removal of the shingles without a dumpster, the magnet sweep of the area for stray nails, etc. which may have escaped the tarps along with the duration of the [redacted] product was appreciated by both my wife and I. The fact that they expect no money upfront and payment due after satisfaction of the job done sealed the deal. I will post the conclusion after the work is completed.
Apologies in advance for the detail here, but since I received a lot of information, had some additional homework to perform before making a decision, leads to a rather lengthy review and fitting the expenditure, in my opinion.

Kudos are due for them working so efficiently with my insurance company, and the quality of work being exceptional. Be advised that they would rather not service Chicago. The salesman and admin were great! The workers showed up at 7:30 promptly and began to work. They were done by 1PM and almost immediately, neighbors were asking for their information. My roof looks fantastic. With that said, my chimney needed to be replaced last minute, which I approved day of service at the last minute. The wrong color was installed since they only had one in-stock, so they made the executive decision to install it. I let them know immediately and was given a bunch of reasons as to why that color was installed by the owner. When I dropped off the final payment a few days later I again, let them know we were not happy with the chimney, I could hear the owner yelling "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM!!!" Okay, I let it slide and the owner emerges, and says that they will correct the issue. I did not hear from them for over 6 weeks regarding the chimney. About two weeks after the replacement, we notice water dripping from a light fixture. Rather than coming straight away to take a look, they ask for pictures and give several reasons over the phone as to why it was leaking. We have a ranch, there is no other reason than the roof leaking. With that said, no one from this company ever came out to inspect the leak at all. Back to the chimney, they show up at 7:45 one morning unannounced to begin work on replacing the incorrect chimney. Problem? No courtesy call, with a wife that works nights and a 6-month old at home, it's a huge problem. When they replaced the roof, things were re-arranged, my wife slept at her parents and I stayed with the baby since, just in case she could not sleep through the noise. In summary, either this owner has something against Chicago residents, young people, black people, or all of the above. What is clear to me, is the blatant lack of respect. They were highly regarded and recommended by a work colleague. But they live in the suburbs and are white, so when they had a leak in their roof, someone was out to them within an hour. Apparently, demographics makes all the difference to A Abel Roofing. Truly disheartened and disappointed.
