A-ABLE Air Conditioning

After 24yrs living in Tampa and have used multiple Air Condition Companies to service my air unitRegrettably, I have not yet found one with a good business ethic, they all tried to rip me offLast Sat, I called A-Able air conditioning, this man wanted $to top off my freonWhen I told him I'll get a second opinion, he made a call, he came back and offered a better deal for $I told him to proceed ahead, while he was about to add freon, I wanted to take a picture of the kind of freon he uses, the man got so upset that I took a picture and stormed out without finishing the work and screamed at me "you don't have to pay me cause I'm not going to do anything for you when you take pictures of meI'm so glad he storms away! I found an honest company who told me I don't really need to add freon and he explained the reason why my thermostats behave the way it didHe said "your freon is not that low and I don't want to take your money, but he gave me a choice to add or notI decided to top off the freon on my unit and he only charged me $Can you imagine $from $that A-Able air conditioning wanted to charge me! Last Sat, I called A-Able air conditioning, this man wanted $650 to top off my freon. When I told him I'll get a second opinion, he made a call, he came back and offered a better deal for $600. I told him to proceed ahead, while he was about to add freon, I wanted to take a picture of the kind of freon he uses, the man got so upset that I took a picture and stormed out without finishing the work and screamed at me "you don't have to pay me cause I'm not going to do anything for you when you take pictures of me. I'm so glad he storms away! I found an honest company who told me I don't really need to add freon and he explained the reason why my thermostats behave the way it did. Can you imagine $276 from $650 that A-Able air conditioning wanted to charge me! I will never use -Able Air Condition, they are dishonest!

It's always a hot summer day when the AC goes out! We called A-Able in the early evening at almost COB. They came the next morning, diagnosed the problem, went to get the part and returned that evening. They worked diligently in my attic (hot, hot, hot) and replaced the part leaving us with AC to be able to better sleep the next night!

Lies times 4. Our advice - call someone else! If you do use A-Able, make sure the job is completed to your satisfaction before the final payment because, once they have your money, you will never see them again. In May, 2016, we contracted with A-Able to install a ductless ac unit for us which we had purchased through a business contact. Since A-Able's website features ductless units, we thought they would be a good choice. Their price to install the unit was $1,400 and, only after contracting, did the technician admitted that he had little experience with ductless units. After two days the unit was finally installed and appeared to be working properly so, even though some outside work was not yet finished, we paid the $1,400. There was still a cover to install over the outside hoses & wires but was backordered, would be here in two days, and the tech would be back then to complete the job. We never saw him again - Lie #1. After a month of text and phone messages that were ignored, we finally reached someone at the office who apologized profusely and assured us they would be out ASAP to complete the job. Again, no one showed up - Lie #2. Another month later the unit stopped working, so we made one last attempt to contact A-Able to (1) finish the job that we had paid them to do and (2) explain why a brand new unit was no longer working. Of course, someone would be out on Saturday morning. Guess what?? We stayed home all morning, no one showed - Lie #3. We called another ac contractor who sent a technician specializing in ductless units out the very same day. Upon inspection it seems there is nothing wrong with the unit, just the installation (hoses that should have been cut to fit were coiled on the ground impeding the proper operation, too much fluid in the lines, and of course the cover that had never been installed over the hoses & lines). Our additional cost to correct & complete the job we paid A-Able to do - $365. Since we didn't feel we should have had to incure additional costs, we sent that bill along with a letter to A-Able. In return,we got a very nice phone message from Mark apologizing for all of our troubles and assuring us that a check for $365 would be in the mail that day. One month later - still no check - Lie #4. Not surprising, our final phone message to Mark on his cell phone has received no response at all, but I guess that's better than another lie. Shame on us for thinking they might actually be interested in good customer service. Never again!!
