A-American always strives to provide a safe and secure environment for all of our tenants & their belongings at every location we manageHowever, providing ever tenant with a 100% guarantee that all of their items will be safe at all
times is not a realityThis is why we include the cost of a $2,insurance policy premium with each rentalUnfortunately insurance policies do have pre-requisites that require a certain set of circumstances to make a theft claim valid, one of these being forced entry
Photos taken at the facility when the "theft" was found did not show a cut lock as claimed in the attached documentPhotos show a lock that was left openIn addition to this these photos show oxidization to the entire lock (including the latch areas, which would not show oxidization if the lock was properly secured), because of this we have no idea how long the lock was left unsecured forThough we would like to note that all of the oxidization on the lock looked even, as if the lock had not been properly secured for some time
If we were to have our staff go out to every unit on a bi weekly basis and check to see if every lock was properly secured we they would spend at least half a day checking each lockThis is not a luxury we can afford in the self storage industryA-American staff was not negligent in providing an acceptable space for you to store your items, nor did its staff find your unit unlocked and neglect to inform you of a potential theft
As of right now the *** ***.**is awaiting additional information regarding your theft claim (more than likely a police report etc)We will monitor their response & see if your claim is validatedIf your claim is accepted you can receive up to $2,worth of compensationThis is more than double the amount of the $1,you are requesting in refunded rent

The whole attitude is summarized in the "theft" in quotesFrom the moment we called in, we, the clients, are treated as thievesYes, there is discrepancy on the lockPlease realize we were only obtaining information through the person we authorized to access our storage unitWe live in Hot Sulphur, ColoradoThe lock was open, but upon further inquiries and discussions we ascertained that the lock on there was not our original lock (the one we bought when we rented the unit)The regional manager will confirm that the lock on the door was not the lock we were soldSo the people who stole our items broke the original lock and left another dummy one on the doorWeird? Yes, our fault? No
The fact remains that when I called on the Friday I spoke to the on-site manager who did not identify herself as such and claimed no knowledge of what to do in this situationOn the Saturday the lady on-site did not want to give me the supervisor's name or numberOn Monday the on-site manager did the sameI had to search the internet to get a contact numberOn Monday afternoon, the Regional Manager did get in touch, defending his staff's actionsIf you have just lost all your property, is it to be given this run-around? I think not
The fact that we were renting an empty unit for goodness knows how long does not seem to register with themAs a side note, at the time of the burglary, they had only half their units rented (per their manager) so a better, more efficient, checking of the units is not an unreasonable requestWhen we rented they touted their security, enclosed, gated with a keypad, cameras, unit checksThey all proved to be misleading and incorrect
I take offense that it is implied that we stole our own tools/itemsPlease realize, we rented this unit because all our prior tools had been stolen from the house and our house defecated inWe bought all new items and rented a storage unit so that this would not happen againI don't know what else we could have done, the disappointment that again we have been broken into is huge
I do not appreciate the implications that I am a thief nor do I organize crime from ColoradoI do contract work for the *** of *** and the *** ** *** *** has owned his own business for the last years and is an upstanding member of his communityI do not know what kind of people A-American is used to dealing with, but their innuendos are definitely not good customer serviceHere we are, clients who have lost over $in tools/equipment/water filter system, and when we complain we are accused of stealing our own property
Yes, the insurance is up to $2,500, as mentioned the loss is of $7,No, not a great payback is it? The reason I am asking for the rental money back is because A-American failed to do their job, they failed to assist their clients, they immediately went on the attack and it is just not rightIf I pay for a service and you fail to provide it, then you do not deserve to be paidA-American failed the standard, they have no right to charge rent for a service they failed to provide, and of course, their customer service is beyond dismal
