ABF delivered a shipment that was critical to the operations of my small business 8 days after it was promised, which caused my business to come to a halt for 8 days. ABF originally scheduled a delivery on November 20, 2012 from 12-4pm. I never received the shipment and never received a call. When I called the office at 6pm to investigate, I was told that [redacted] sent the delivery personnel home early due to the holiday. The next day I spoke with [redacted], at which time he apologized for the inconvenience, would look into a refund of the shipping charges (total charge was $160), and would reschedule the delivery for November 27, 2012 (now 7 days late). On November 27, 2012, the shipment did not arrive and again I did not receive a call informing me that the shipment would not be delivered. I called ABF on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at which time [redacted] told me the shipment would be delivered that day at 2pm (which, at this point, is 8 days after the original delivery date). Also, at that time, [redacted] Synder still did not have a resolution on the delivery refund and that he was still investigating a possible refund. The delivery finally arrived on November 28, 2012. By November 30, 2012, I had not heard from [redacted] Synder with any type of status update or resolution to the shipping refund. On Monday, December 3, 2012, I called ABF Corporate Headquarters to seek resolution. I spoke with [redacted] in customer relations and shared the situation with her. [redacted] said she would follow-up with [redacted] Synder and look into a shipping refund. This morning, I received a call from [redacted] informing me that I would be refunded $20 for the inconvenience, which is laughable. Given the poor communication, follow-up, and late arrival of my shipment (again - it arrived 8 days late and caused my small business to cease operations completely), I believe a full shipping refund in the amount of $160 is fair. ABF's shipping service and customer service is unacceptable.
