company would not refund $ for item although it was different than the one I requested.I called A&B Variety Co. regarding ordering a Goody hairbrush. I sent them a picture of the brush as requested. I was told they had the brush and I ordered two as the shipping was the same no matter how many were ordered. The cost was $12.43. The brushes arrived on 11/6/13. They were not the same as the ones I had ordered. I called and the gentleman stated that the manufacturer had changed and that the ones he sent were the same item number as the one I requested. I explained that the size, strength of the bristles, and general appearance of the brushes were not the same as the one I had ordered. This was very apparent by inspection and feeling the bristles. If the bristles had been as course as the one I wanted I would not have cared about the appearance. The brushes were individually packaged and I carefully opened one of them at which time I noted the weaker bristles. The man I spoke to said that since I had opened the package he could not refund me for the second brush. I talked to him at length and explained that I had not been sent the item that I requested and that he had not notified me of the difference in the manufacturer etc. I kept both brushes although I have no use for them rather than incur another mailing fee.Desired Settlement$12.43, plus cost of shipping if business is willing for me to return the brushes for a full refund.Business Response hey [redacted] this is [redacted] we have been in business since 1946 we are a very good customer service company sorry you have to deal with people like this she ordered two brushes item number XXXXX that are made by goody co I am a distributor of this company I sent the item she ordered after her receiving them she opened one and does not like the bristles of this brush she called and wanted to return them to which I replied sure just return them I will issue credit she proceeded to tell me that she opened one which makes it unsalable to my customers my return policy is if it is salable returns are fine if it is not resalable I do not issue credit I will issue credit for the one that is salable with out question the brushes are 3.74 ea she ordered 2 of them plus 4.95 shipping total of the inv is 12.43her credit due when and if they are returned will be 3.74 THANKS [redacted] Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)If the brushes had been what I had ordered, there would be no problem. I was unable to tell that they were not only by opening one and finding the bristles far softer than the one I sent a picture of. I understand that the merchant had no way of knowing that the company had changed the product. It does seem, however, in the realm of doing good business, that he could have absorbed the cost and taken the matter up with the company. Referring to me as " people like this " says a lot about his lack of professionalism.

They messed up my order and told me to send it back. I did and then I didn't hear back from them despite me trying to contact them twice.I ordered the product on about March 29, 2015. I received the wrong order on April 7, 2015. I called them immediately and they said mail it back and they would send me the right order. I mailed it back to them first class mail (at my expense no less and I had already paid for shipping). I contacted them on April 16, 2015 by e mail and asked if they were going to do anything about this. I didn't hear anything about it. I contacted them again on April 21, 2015 by e mail and told them to contact me by close of business today, April 22, 2015. I still haven't heard anything from them. I used my [redacted] card and I plan to contact them to get my money back. If I'm not successful. I would like you to mediate for me.Desired SettlementA refund of $26.95 plus the $2.86 in additional postage that I had to incur.Business Response The company has indicated to the that the refund has been issued. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)They still have not refunded me the $2.86 for postage that I had to incur to send the wrong product back to them. Also, no apology was ever issued with regard to their mistake.Final Business Response Based on a conversation the had with the company, they state the consumer ordered the wrong product online. They do not feel she is due the postage refund.
