On 9/6/Walter the plumber from Bailey's Plumbing replaced my reservoir tank and switchI was charged $ Walter the plumber lead me to believe that it would be a difficult and time consuming jobOn 9/14/I had another plumber give me an estimate on another jobHe reviewed Walter the plumbers work He told me I was over charged and that the job should have cost $ He said that I was taken advantage of because water was draining into my crawl space He said it was price gauging On 9/14/I notified Bailey's of the above On 9/16/Dennis the Field Supervisor came to my house to inspect Walter the plumbers work Dennis stated " you were charged $for parts and the rest was labor" He also stated " that's the cost of doing business with a large companyYou are paying for our trucks, worker's comp etcI stated I was charged over $for 2hrs mins of work/labor He said who signed for the workI told him my husbandHe said you new what the cost was going to beI was not informed that the parts were $and the labor would be over $for less than hrs of work I admit I should have asked more questions but I am an RN Hospice nurse not a plumberI believed Bailey's to be a reputable company with an A+ rating from the Revdex.com In the future I will never use Baileys Plumbing from Freehold again and I will always ask for a breakdown of costs

Scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance and was given the 9 - 12 slot. As 12:00 came and no one had shown up or called, I called the company and was told that the 3 hour slot was just an approximation, they were very busy. The woman on the phone argued that the plumber has been at the previous site since 10:30 am and they just cannot control the time it takes to resolve plumbing issues. I stated that no one called to let me know they were running late. Oh, they forgot, so sorry.

A. Bailey called at 1:45 pm and said the guy would be at my home in about 1/2 hour. I told them not to bother, I would use someone else.

I suspect, but do not know obviously, that they forgot to put me on the schedule to begin with. I found that this company does not care about customer service in the least. A 3 hour slot is an approximation??? Who are they kidding.

The work was paid for by the owner of the property [redacted] who does not live at the address where the work was done. We can not issue a credit or discount to a tennant that is not paying the bill. If [redacted] sends me proof of senoir citizen I will be more than happy to credit her card.

Review: I am filing the center or sales issue as I feel I was manipulated and misled by the service tech. I called A. Bailey (lic# [redacted]) to come and repair a leaky pipe. I live in a mobile home so he had to go underneath the house to investigate. After investigating the problem, he informed me that it would be $600 to repair the leak. I in turn, stated to him, never mind that's too much. I Explained that I had a leak before and it was nowhere near $600. He asked if I had the bill. I got the bill and I showed him the bill was $300 and change. He then informed me that this was totally different that where the leak was it was very involved and very difficult and it would take him WELL into the afternoon. (It was now 10:30 am. Trusting that I could believe what he was telling me I changed my mind and said that he should then go ahead and do the job. An hour later he was done. It was no different than any other league no more difficult than any other league he had lied to me and misrepresented what needed to be done in order to get me to agree to do the job. I am NOT a wealthy woman. And I'm not a plumber. This was a licensed business and I trusted that they were honest. I believe I was wrong in doing so. Now I am reaching out to you to get this rectified. I believe I am due a refund of $300. Afterward I did call the office to speak to someone in charge however I didn't get anywhere.Desired Settlement: This is not an issue of just not liking the price of the job., I believe that the Revdex.com should step in and demand that they refund the money since when he stated what the price of the job would be. I told him to never mind that it was way too much. The only I agreed to I agreed to have him do the job is because he told me how different it was from my other job. That it was as he stated very involved in very difficult and with taken well into the afternoon. In order to get me to agree to have the job done he lied and misrepresented what would be involved.

WE HAVE GPS INSTALLED ON OUR VEHICLES. THE SERVICE TECH WAS DISPATCHED 7:38AM AUGUST 29, 2015 ARRIVED AT [redacted] HOME AT 8:03AM...AFTER CRAWLING UNDER HER HOME AND LOCATING THE PROBLEM THE SERVICE TECH GAVE HER THE ESTIMATE TO DO THE REPAIRS, WHICH INCLUDED REPAIRING THE WATER LINE REMOVING THE WET INSULATION AND INSTALLING NEW INSULATION. THE SERVICE TECH ALSO NOTICED WHERE ANOTHER REPAIR WAS MADE SOMEONE HAD RIPPED DOWN THE INSULATION AND NEVER REPLACED IT, THE SERVICE TECH ALSO REPLACED THAT MISSING INSULATION AS WELL. THE TECH THEN WENT TO THE SUPPLY HOUSE TO PICK UP MATERIALS WHICH WERE OVER $100 FOR THE PIPING AND INSULATION. HE CAME BACK MADE THE REPAIRS AND COMPLETED AT 11:48AM 4HRS 10MIN TOTAL TIME SPENT AT HER HOME..AS FAR AS THE $300 REPAIR THAT WAS MADE PREVIOUS BY ANOTHER COMPANY. THAT COMPANY HAD JUST REPLACED A VALVE ON THE SIDE OF THE HOME AND NEVER WENT UNDER INTO THE CRAWL AREA...AFTER REVIEWING ALL THE FACTS I FEEL THE BILL IS CORRECT AND NO MONEY IS DUE BACK TO THE CUSTOMER

Review: [redacted]There are some inaccuracies in the company's statements. First of all a few days before there was a different text that came out to inspect it needed to be done. His findings work that he needed to have a pipe replaced and he didn't have the correct size on the truck so he was going to have to order it and it was going to take a day or so. I was going out of town as I told them when I called that it needs to be done that day or it would have to wait until I was back in town. When I came back the second check came out to the house. He went under also to inspect the house and see what needed to be done. After he inspected the leak he told me that it was going to be over $600 and I told him that was way too much and I did not want the work done. That was when he told me it was more involved it was going to take a lot longer to do it was much harder and that's when I agreed that he could do the work. After I agreed that he could do the work he left to go get the materials. I was a little confused by this as I thought that the first tech would of told him what needed to be done since he had to order it and he would have had it all on the truck. When he left I set the timer he was gone for an hour. So you got here at 9 we discuss things he was under the house inspecting so he left her at about 10 he got back here at an hour later and did the work. The work he did took him all of an hour maybe an hour and 15 minutes. Now if they sent somebody out here on the first day to look at the job to see what was done and to order the parts why were the parts on the truck so that it would not have taken an hour to go and get what needed to be done. This was definitely a company taking advantage of senior citizens. I have several bills from other companies for other jobs that come nowhere near the $600 and definitely the parts that that they used on the job we're nowhere near $100 either.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: We had a leak that was steadily growing worse over the weekend, and we didn't want to risk a flood and damage to our wood floors. So we called this company because they have 24/7 service for plumbing emergencies. Two issues were completely unsatisfactory...

1) When he got to our home the plumber said he would have to break the drywall in the ceiling where the leak was coming from, to look up and see the source. I told him the bathroom was upstairs but he still wanted to break the drywall. He did get our explicit agreement. We gave it because we were stressed and just wanted the leak to stop. He broke the drywall and still couldn't see what he was looking for, went upstairs, took off the shower diverter and found the leak. It was confirmed later that if he had at least tried to pull off the bathroom fixture first, he would have found the source of the leak immediately and would not have needed to break the drywall. Now have to hire someone to fix the drywall.

2) He stopped the leak from coming downstairs and left it drip in the tub, but he couldn't figure out the brand of the diverter so he said we needed a new one. If we bought it ourselves he would charge $665 to replace it, if he bought it the cost would be $995. It turns out that it was possible to determine the brand of the diverter. Once the brand was identified the broken part was ordered and replaced for a total of $325.

We paid A.Bailey $258 for the house call, the bad information, and the broken drywall that we now have to pay someone else to fix. If we had fully trusted A. Bailey we would have paid about $600 more in parts and labor for the plumbing, and an unknown amount to fix the shower tile because he said he would have to break that as well to put the diverter on. Horrible. We were taken advantage of because of our lack of experience, but there are others who would have been even more trusting and wasted more money than we did.Desired Settlement: 1) An emailed apology

2) A partial refund towards the cost replacing the drywall would be appropriate.

3) A lesson learned by this company so they train plumbers not to damage property or quickly propose expensive repairs to consumers just because it easier and more profitable for them.

4) Awareness for other consumers who are thinking about using this company, especially if they make no effort to make amends.

We were called on a Sunday evening for an emergency leak through thr ceiling..The service tech first went to 2nd floor above the leak and could not visibly see any leaks. The water was dripping through the saturated sheet rock ceiling. The sheet rock had to be removed and replaced as it was sagging wet and would have created mold issue if not replaced. The service tech did find the leak and stopped it from creating further damage. The shower diverter could not be identified on Sunday evening as they did not have any paper work for it.

Review: I hire this company to fix the water main of my home. In order to repair the pipe they remove the side walk. When they finish, the sidewalk wasn't placed back properly. Now the sidewalk is stiking up and it is not safe for pedestrians to walk. I called and emailed them but they are just dismisive about it.Desired Settlement: All I'm asking is to leave the side walk leveled and the salabs flush even.

Review: I contacted A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating for an emergency that involved my toilet which was clogged. They explained that since it was an emergency, it would cost $79 to enter the house and $179 to fix it. I told them that I had a coupon from THEIR yellow page advertisement for 15% off Super Senior Discount. The owner, [redacted], said that she would accept the coupon but the serviceman would have to have the coupon and proof of my age. Well, as it turns out, the serviceman([redacted]), who by the way was EXTREMELY RUDE & DISRESPECTFUL, REFUSED to even look at the coupon or my license to show my age, stating that the price was already set. after fixing the problem, he just simply got in his truck, and left without even giving me a receipt. The discount was never honored! I feel that this is FALSE ADVERTISING...to put a coupon in the Yellow Pages and then not honor it!Desired Settlement: I would like them to adjust the billing and give the 15% coupon credit back on the payment. Since he didn't give me a receipt, I don't even know how much the total of the bill came to!

Review: We had a gas leakage in our basement and called the gas company. A technician came and he identified a faulty gas shutoff valve leading to the furnace and water heater. He estimated the replacement cost to be about $80 for labor and parts. Our home appliance insurance company agreed to cover this cost.

We contacted A Bailey Plumbing & Heating for the repair. The plumber came and quoted $449 plus tax for the job. Asked why the charge is so high, he explained that he needed to do a lot of work, including shutting off main gas supply, changing lots of parts. At the end, he finished the job in less than 20 minutes and only replaced the faulty valve with a cheap shut-off valve costs about $20. I questioned him why the work description he provided earlier was so different, he claimed that he "changed his mind" and felt that those were unnecessary.

On the invoice (contract #[redacted] he wrote "Gas Value $233" for parts and "Repair to Furnace $216” for labor. Both items were dubious. It was a shut-off value, not a gas-regulator valve. The parts cost about $20, only 1/10 of the price he was charging. Furthermore, he did NOT do any repair work on the furnace at all. He argued that because the valve led to the furnace, he sort of “repaired the furnace”. If one follows this logic, he could have written that he repaired the water heater as well, since the value also shut off gas supply to the water heater.

We filed a complaint with the company the next day. The service manager [redacted] came to our house. after examining the job, [redacted] claimed that since we agreed to the quote (even though we were tricked into it), it is perfectly OK for the technician to charge $233 for a $20 valve, and $216 for a 20 minutes job. They do that all the time. He called it "market price".

We were ripped off $426 for an $80 repair job, by dishonest marketing and horrendous overcharge from "A Bailey Plumbing". This company has a serious problem with their books, and how they treat their customers.Desired Settlement: We wish that A bailey Plumbing adjust their billing for the repair job and only charge a reasonable price for the $20 parts and 20 minutes labor. We have no problem with paying service fee or emergency charge, but everything has a limit. We shall not be asked to pay for the work that they didn't do, e.g., "Repair Furnace", and we want to warn other customers not to fall into the same trap.

[redacted] is confused on the terminolgy and with the serviceman from the gas company and did not understand what was told to him. The gas company charges $125 to come out to light a pilot light on a appliance. We were contacted by [redacted] to come to his home to look at and estimate work to be done on a gas leak which involves changing 2 gas shut off valves and changing some gas piping to the furnace. He was given the estimate prior to any work performed and complained to the service tech about the price. The service tech explained to [redacted] that there were money saving coupons in the phone book that he can apply towards the bill. [redacted] found a $30 coupon and gave to the service tech, the service tech told him we had a $50 coupon in which the service tech applied towards the bill..After the work was completed [redacted] was still complaining about the cost to the tech..The tech gave the option to remove all the parts installed and leave and not pay anything [redacted] declined. [redacted] then called our office to speak to a supervisor. We had our supervisor go to [redacted]'s home checked the work done and told [redacted] that it was the correct amount charged. The service manager also told [redacted] he would remove what was done and we would refund his money and he can call another company to do the work, again [redacted] declined. [redacted] thinks he can tell a service company what he wants to pay for a service after the work is completed. In order to run a proffesional company with experienced techs, insurances, trucks, office staff, warranties, etc. This was the correct price. I am sorry that [redacted] does not feel he did not recieve value for the work performed..

I am rejecting this response because: the vendor can't deny the fact that they overcharged us for the product and service they provided, way over the limit. They did that via deceiving marketing. They tried to cover up the act afterwards by lying in the receipt, including the job they didn't perform at all (e.g., repair furnace). This is a dishonest vendor and customers shall be warned to stay away from.

Review: On 12/10/14, I had no heat. I called around to various companies to find out what it would cost to come out and look at boiler, My wife and I are both on Social Security and I shopped to get the best price. I was told over the phone a $30 charge to come out and diagnose the problem, in addition to repairs. The Service Manager [redacted] came out and diagnosed that two Zone Valves were bad and had to be replaced within 5 minutes. He told me it be $79 for coming to my house, which I was told over the phone $30, and $469 a piece for repair of the two valves which came close to $1000. After calling my wife and told her the price, I went back to [redacted] and told him my situation, and wanted to know about financing; he said he didn't bring the papers with him. I told him to replace the one valve and he said he would and leave the other valve open so I would have heat upstairs. now mind you that he only replaced the Head and not the valve, which was taking off two screws and changing 4 wires, which took all of 20 minutes total service call. I paid by check, and when he was gone I went on the Internet to research how much the valve actually cost, $65. I called back A. Bailey and wanted an explanation on why I was charged $469 for a part that cost $65. [redacted] called me back and said that is how much a licensed plumber charges for the job. I said I could understand if you replaced the valve, but you didn't you just the head, and he repeated the same thing. I could understand if he charged me more for the part but $469 is ridiculous for a 20 minute visit. Not satisfied I called back A. Bailey and asked to speak with the owner or a manager, I was connected to a voicemail and left a message 12/10 and on 12/11. Needless to say in my message I told them I put a stop payment on the check till somebody calls me back. Additionally I showed [redacted] a coupon in the phone book for $50 off any repair over $500, my bill was $533, which wasn't applied. Ad also says 100% customer satifaction!!Desired Settlement: I want an adjustment to the bill for replacing the head and not the valve. And an explanation as to why I was charged so much. Dennis SM applied the $30 for call but didn't apply credit 8i showed in the phone book.
