"A" Best, Inc.

I contracted for A Best, Inc. to replace a portion of my roof. They were to remove the old shingles and replace them with new shingles on the front half of my roof. I was told they would be done in one day because it was December in [redacted], NY.

Day One, Thursday: They were scheduled to show up at my house on a Thursday December 5th at 9 am. They did not show up until 10:30. I got home that evening at 6 pm, they had broken into a side door in my garage on the complete opposite side of the house to run extension cords for their tools and left my garage door open with all of the lights on. They did not complete the job in one day as I was told and they had left a dumpster, nails and garbage all over my yard and ladders leaning against my house. I was told they would finish the job the next day.

Day Two, Friday: They did not show up again until noon. Once again they did not finish the job. I have a one lane driveway and had a car in the garage that needed to go to the service shop Saturday morning. I was told the dumpster would be out of my driveway by 8 am. It was not removed until 2 pm on Sunday. The roof was still not fixed and it began snowing. There were ladders left on the side of my house shingles buried in snow and ice and nails and garbage everywhere.

Day Three Saturday: I had an appointment to have my vehicle serviced at a local dealership, the dumpster was not removed, and I was unable to make the appointment.

Day Four, Sunday: The dumpster was removed at 2:00 pm. There was garbage and nails left all over the driveway.

Day Five, Monday: I spoke with the salesman who sold the job to me. A new crew was assigned who was going to finish the job. At this point it has been snowing and there was a large amount of ice and snow built up on my roof.

Day Nine, Friday: My roof was leaking into the attic and damaged a crib and mattress.

Day Ten, Saturday: A crew showed up to put a tarp up on the leaking section of roof.

Day Fourteen Thursday: A new crew came to my house and finished the roof. They used electric heaters plugged into my house to melt the mounds of snow covering the shingles because they did not finish the job before it started to snow.

Day Twenty Wednesday: A portion of the roof where flashing was not installed was leaking.

Day Twenty-one Thursday: A crew came out to fix the second leak and to pick up the garbage and ladder that was left in my yard.

Continuous problems: A portion of the wood siding was not reinstalled properly. The siding was damaged and needs to be replaced not just nailed back on the side of the house with roofing nails. The ice shield was put into the gutter and not behind it. The gutters were all damaged and now do not drain properly. There is still garbage and nails all over my yard. The way the shingles were laid does not match from one side of the roof to the other or to the existing shingles that were not replaced.
