In response to LKQIn regards to the so called debris in the head gasketsWhen ***,my mechanic at Main Auto Repair, inspected the engine he administered a pressure check to both sides of the engine to check the compressionHe found psi and psi on right and left sidesCompression should be at least psiLKQ sent an independent inspector to look over the situationYou can see from the invoice I faxed previously , that the inspector and my mechanic performed a variety of test verifying the compression on cylinders one and five both had psi, all other cylinders had compressionThey also performed a leak down test on cylinders & and it did not hold pressure for leak downThe inspector stated the engine was bad and to leave it unassembledAccording to [redacted] and his mechanic there was no conversation about debris being found whatsoever[redacted] also stated had there been any debris that it would have been blown out from the pressure of the compression check and wouldn't have made a difference either way regarding the performance of the engineHe is willing to be contacted so you can verify his statements. As far as declining the shop to pull the engine it is true but in a different aspect of the conversationLKQ offered $towards the additional $1,of labor I was going to incur to have the defective engine removed for yet another inspectionThe parts warranty should not have been an issue as the inspector had already declared the engine bad during the first inspectionThere has been much anxiety caused on this issue dating back to October that now I would just like to request a refund from LKQ opposed to a replacement engine and be done with this fabricating company.Sincerely, [redacted]

An independent inspector was dispatched, to verify the concern of no compressionThe independent inspector made an appointment with ***, and that there would be technician and facilities to perform the requested documentation of the failurethe engine was running rough, which could have been something as simple as a coil pack, spark plug, etcNo compression test was performed for the inspector, nor any codes demonstrated for the inspectorThe engine prior to removal from the salvage vehicle was ran and compression tested, with under 10% spread on the compression of the cylinders, median average was 170PSIif an actual mechanical failure can be demonstrated that falls under our warranty [redacted] * we will be more than happy to exchange the engine [redacted]

Based on information provided by customer on this matter, they failed to perform a proper installation, which causes failure of the unitProvided documents above substantiate that the installation was not performed properly, per the dealer that they took the vehicle to, and we have also included
the re-write procedures above in a separate document.Warranty disclaimer access is included on the invoice, which contains terms and conditions for all products LKQ sells. Unit failed from improper installation, and not covered under our warranty. Under terms and conditions, refers to computer controls. Transmission: It is the responsibility of the installer to replace the radiator or transmission oil cooler, flush the transmission oil cooling lines, fill differential, adjust shifter mechanisms, replace filters, replace seals, replace pan gaskets and reset or replace computer codes when installing a transmission. The Mechanical Parts Warranty excludes:Breakdowns caused by non-covered components, improper installation, failure to clear computer codes, defective workmanship, usage for which the part was not intended and/or improper maintenance (e.gusing the incorrect types and levels of fluids and lubricants as outlined in the vehicle’s “Owner’s Manual”). http://www.lkqcorp.com/Portals/1/PDFs/Warranty%20PDFs/mechanical_warranty_rec.pd...

The consumer was sold an engine that was run and tested prior to removal from our donor vehicleAn independent inspector was sent out to determine symptoms and possible causesBased on the findings of the independent inspection, there are symptoms that may be due to installer error or some foreign
debris that entered the cylinder after delivery, causing the issuesDue to the fact that engine was run and tested prior to delivery and sealed, to determine if this is a covered failure from our component, LKQ cannot authorize anything to be performed. The engine was sold with a parts only warranty ***), with no labor coverage, and there is evidence of a possible installation issue of the engine ingesting foreign debris, we authorized $for additional tear down and final inspection in the event that the failure was an LKQ issue, and will not cover the additional tear down if it is installer issue/Foreign debris that made it into cylinder from installation or some other outside source. The purchaser has refused to authorize diagnosis to allow and/or facilitate liabilityWithout being determine cause of failure, liability cannot be determined.Overall installation to a 3rd party inspector seemed poor.***The consumer was instructed that engine to be removed for inspection and given necessary authorizations so that liability can be determined

I am rejecting this response because: Inspector was sent about two times and everyday they come by with some type of excuse. They just don't want to exchange there crappy engine that has no compression. The car had codes and yes I did text it do the technitions phone. Every day they wanted to do some type of test and photo of the car. I had to keep towing the car back in forth from city to city. From ceres to modesto to riverbank.
