First off I want to say that I like the family and that I've done business with them before and have know them for well over 40 years. As much as I hate to give a bad review to some one that I consider a friend, I feel this is necessary if for no other reason that to save somebody some grief. We had our driveway black top in two segments. Last year with a base coat and was left unfinished to make sure it wouldn't crack. Great idea and no problem with that. It made it through the winter fine. When we made the deal to do the driveway it was agreed upon that the finish coat would be like my neighbors across the street that had previously been done. This was the selling point. Unfortunately the finish coat looks a lot like the base coat which is rather porous. They were suppose to come back in August and reroll it to try and pack it down and never showed up. I heard we'll make it right and nothing ever happened. My wife even complained that it hurts her bare feet to walk on it. Needless to say that I'm quite disgusted with the job. Since my was a hand shake and some one's word I blame myself, so for those of you that plan on hiring some one to do a driveway, by all means please get everything in writing down to the last detail. Ironically the only satisfaction I have is when some one asks "How do you like your driveway?" All I can say is "Take a look " and then the reponse comes "I bet you wish you'd got concrete.
