Took our vehicle for ac repair, Ac only fixed one day- returned next day to have it fixed, only to be charged more money and car AC is still not fixed
06/13/13 Called business & Spoke to [redacted] to get quote for ac repair. I advised him of needed items and was quoted $85.00 & we are CASH ONLY. I brought my car to him after I got off work (and stop to ATM to withdrawal $100.00 since I don't carry cash), near the completion of the job he said "oh you have leaks- this changes price I quoted". "By how much?" I was told it would be "$120 but Ill cut you a deal- $110 and we are CASH ONLY". I said "I only have $105" [redacted] said "Okay- we will do that and you can just owe me $5.00" I'm thinking wow- what a great guy & I will bring him the $5.00 & even a thank you card next week! I drive home & realize- I didn't receive a receipt, but no big deal. I get in my car the next morning to go to work- A/C is not working?! I drive to work in the heat & call [redacted]. He apologized and said to bring the car back (to leave over the weekend because he doesn't work on cars during the weekend) & he will fix it up right on Monday and it will be little to no additional charge. He "wants to make it right, he understands how he would feel if some mechanic had pumped some invisible gas into his car- he paid and it doesn't work next day." I dropped the car off on 6/14/13 & I told him to contact me if there was any additional charges, he agreed. All day passes [redacted] no call or text from [redacted]. I called at 5pm on 6/17/13- [redacted] said there was a leak under the handler he had to repair and another leak check, it was going to be $50.00 to pick up car & it was ready. Upset because that was not the agreement, but I need my car. I went to pick up car and handed him $60.00 and asked for change - he said "Oh, no it's $60.00" I said "You said $50.00 on the phone." Reluctantly he agreed and gave me change. I then advised I need a receipt for work completed. [redacted] got upset and said "Oh well you owe $10 to Uncle Sam". I thought my taxes were included- now I realize that he is doing things off the books and I was only charged the "taxes" after I wanted a receipt? That is a bad business practice. I give him the additional $10.00 take my receipt and as I go to leave I ask "So it's working properly, you have had it all day? He said "Ugh, well... yeah-but I can't promise anything", upset I leave. The ac seems to be working on my way home. This morning 6/18/2013 I get in my car- and ac is broken AGAIN! I fear taking it back to him, since it will just cost me more and I run the risk of it not being fixed properly again. I just wasted $165.00 and still have NO ac.
