Review: I called AC&E for a home inspection and specifically requested my appointment be with [redacted]. They booked me and gave me a date and time. One the day of the inspection my husband was called in to work and would miss the inspection, so he asked me to call AC&E and ask for ** to call him so they could discuss a few things prior to the inspection. When I called, the VERY snotty girl who answers his phone lines advised me that my appointment was not with **, but with one of the other employees of AC&E. Of course I was upset b/c that’s not what I asked for. She couldn’t have cared less. Her attitude was you get what we give you. We were hours from the inspection, and with a snow storm coming proceeded with this other person.

We have closed on the house and have now found a laundry list of things missed by this “certified” expert that AC&E sent us.

The list of items missed include:

• Windows that need to replaced because they leak. Our contractor showed us right away where the leaks are around the window.

• A pipe in the attic that leads to the roof was held together with duct tape, and covered with a blanket to soak up the rain coming in from the roof.

• He only did a visual inspection of the roof. He did not climb onto the roof the thoroughly inspect it.

Even after sending [redacted] time stamped pictures I took with my cell phone the day of the inspection he still denied any responsibility, AND attempted to place the blame on us ….the non-certified experts. My husband explained to ** that we hired AC&E because we ARE NOT experts.

According to our contractor, plumber and electrician, they don’t know how on earth an inspector could have possibly missed any of the NUMEROUS items they found.Desired Settlement: I have requested a refund. I even sent ** the picture that I have. He still denied any responsibility. He didn't even make an attempt to be fair. I have our email exchange if someone would like to read them and/or see the picture. AT this point we would like a full refund. The things they missed that we now have to fix is costing us a pretty penny!! We are first time homeowners and he didn't take the opportunity to do the right thing.

Response:

She did not request ** and the Engineer that she was set up with was highly completent NYS Licensed Engineer, we were able to accommodate the change in her time, even with a pending snowstorm. The complaint states that AC&E missed leaking windows, we cannot open up walls, it was not until the contractor opened up walls [redacted] was able to see the leaking seal around the windows. The pipe she is referring to in the attic is a vent pipe, the roof is a new roof, the blanket she is referring is from the old roof and has nothing to do with the new roof. Nor is she able to provide photos of any leaks, when asked if there were any leaks during her final walk thru or before now, the answer was "No". This blanket has nothing to do with the new roof. There is no refund due.
