A & C Landscaping, Inc.

In late March 2012, I signed a contract with A&C to do lawn maintenance for the season. I also asked to have them call me to possibly schedule a Spring cleanup.[redacted] of A&C called me and I asked to have the pine cone and pine needles raked up and to put an edge on the beds. This is the only instruction I gave.That was the extent of the order. I also told him I would be out of town and did not want the work until the next week. This is common with them and all contractors for me as I want to be present when someone is doing work on my property. They know this because we have been doing business for years.While I was out of town, [redacted] sent his work crew out (without a written work order). They also had no instruction and no supervision. The scope of the work was changed without my approval from what I had told [redacted].Turns out one of their 17 year old untrained, unsupervised workers cut branches off of our Pine trees that lined our drive. He cut the branches off up to 6 feet high on 5 of the 7 trees that lined our driveway. This totally destroyed the whole purpose of why the trees were there. For Privacy! Also all of the aesthetics of having beautiful trees was gone. These guys have no clue what landscaping is all about. This young kid was allowed to run rampant unsupervised on our property and destroy these trees that were 30 years old and 40 feet tall! The Supervisor showed up later and said he couldnt imagine anyone cutting tree branches off that high up. Yet he was the responsible leader of the crew and was not around when the kid did the damage.We are absolutely sick about this and the A & C Landscaping company has shown no remorse. They have only tried to blame us instead of their own employee. They are trying to ignore our complaints and will not return our calls. This is not the first time we have had problems with A&C. Last year one of their untrained, unsupervised kids sprayed Round-Up and killed all of our ground cover. He was not trained as to what is a plant and not a weed, so he killed everything. They said they would make good on it and replace it, but they never did. They also put in a brick front porch for us and the next season, the bricks crumbled causing a trip hazard and dangerous situation. Numerous times they were told to hold off mowing because of extreme dampness and they went ahead with mowing and dug up large areas of the lawn with heavy machines. They would bill us for work they never did, they would mow half the yard and bill us for the whole job. They billed us for weeks that they never showed up. We had to constantly scrutinize every invoice due to these overcharges.We have asked them in the past if they are insured and bonded. They assured us they were. I have asked 4 times now for their insurance info and/or bonding papers. They said they would provide the info but to date have not received anything and they keep ignoring the issue. Our property has lost 10s of thousands of dollars in value due to the tree destruction. We will seek restitution in whatever method we need to take. We tried to discuss a resolution, but they have been unavailable and will not return calls.
