8/25/2012 A/C Solutions replaced and installed a new "contactor". 16 hrs later, contactor shorted and failed due to faulty installation
8/25/12 at 12:20PM I contacted AC Solutions to have our Rudd AC system repaired. Tech [redacted] told us to shut unit off, replace filter, wait 2 hours because unit had frozen up. Did as instructed, called [redacted] back because unit was still not working. [redacted] stated that if we waited until Monday to do repair he would save us over $100.00. Due to medical reason that was not an option. [redacted] came out at 4:30 PM. My husband stayed by him to watch the repair. A contactor had shorted and burnt out. We were charged $75.00 for Saturday service call and $63.00 for part.(no part number or invoice # listed on receipt) By 4:45 he was gone. [redacted] was asked 3 times by my husband to please check freon and unit and [redacted] said, "no, there is nothing else wrong with your unit." He didn't come inside to check if air was blowing correctly after repair or anything. Sunday Aug. 26th around 1PM we discover AC unit wasn't working again. Called AC Solutions [redacted] answered and when I explained what happened he got agitated. He also stated he had "no idea" what could be wrong with our AC now other than our compressor being shot. I asked if that was expensive and he said it's the most expensive and he was going to "leave it at that." He then told me that "there is NO way I can come out today." He said that it was raining where he was at. I explained that it wasn't raining at my house. Which for the ENTIRE day we didn't have ANY rain until around 6 PM for less than an hour. He was disgruntle and said he would call me back. He NEVER DID. Monday at 7:30 AM I called AC Solutions. [redacted] rudely answered again. I asked what time he would be coming out. He raised his voice and said, "I CAN'T work in the rain!" I again calmly explained that it wasn't raining at my house. I need him to come out ASAP. If it were to rain I had a beach at the ac unit contained so many volts and he was NOT going to work in the rain! He then loudly asked, " what do you want from me!?" I was speechless. Once again he said when rain stopped he would call me. I provided him w/ 3 working ph numbers and thanked him. I waited another hour still no return call or RAIN. I then called another AC company because my asthma was at the point where breathing was becoming painful. [redacted]t. Within 45 mins 2 techs arrived at our home. Shortly upon their arrival it started to drizzle. They used their own beach umbrella and continued on with repair. The issue was the contactor which Mr. [redacted] of AC Solutions installed had shorted again. It was only screwed in with 2 bolts on the right. It should have had 2 screws on both sides total of 4in all. After Pond's finished their repair without being asked they checked our freon level, tested our compressor, came inside checked ac vents and air flow. They checked the filter and its intake. It's now been 48 hours and our AC unit is working like a charm thanks to Pond's. I spent 48 hours and 5 phone conversations with [redacted]. I gave him every opportunity to make things good. I was done dealing with him. He is the ONLY one that answers when I call XXX-XXX-XXXX. I refused to be belittled anymore and be treated rudely. I have ceased contact with him. Please note, [redacted] again NEVER called back on Monday as stated. Tuesday evening I discovered [redacted] had FINALLY called and left a message around 9:40 AM stating that he was calling "to see what I could do for you guys". (left time and day of his call)"If I can do anything for ya to get you up and going give me a call XXX-XXX." I took pictures of AC Solutions blacken, burnt out contactor while it was still in my unit, plus I have it here as well. In addition, without asking Pond's wrote up their service order as follows: "found contactor shorted out, no screws in contactor shorted out contactor. Replaced contactor, checked AMPS and freon, good unit working good at this time.
