A Carolina Locksmith Reviews (3)

I am filing this complaint about an inferior repair that I received on a door knob replacement in my home. During May of this year, I hired A Carolina Locksmith to open a closet door in my house that would not turn / open. I was told that it would not open because the knob was old and the spring had broken thereby rendering it useless in turning. I was also told, by [redacted] -the repairman and current owner- that in order to correct this he would need to take out the old "antique knob" and replace it with a new one. I agreed to allow the replacement. I was left with what appears to be a used knob in place of the old one, however the replacement does not have the piece that's used to hold the door closed. It does not stay shut because it's missing the middle of the knob. In addition, the repairman screwed in a plastic circular piece on top of the door where he removed the old knob.. The repair is not only not functional, but it looks horrific. On top of all of this, I was charged for the parts (total 31.50 ... Although one section of the hand written invoice indicates 36.50), the service trip at 75 dollars, and a labor charge of 201.50 for one hour's work. The total charge was 310.23 dollars for a job that was not done properly. I did not dispute this at an earlier date because I spent May through August of this year by my husband's side until he passed away. We were married for over 4 decades so obviously this was not at the high end of my priorities during that time. I can provide photos of the inferior work by this company if so desired. I would like a full refund so that I can hire someone else to properly fix the door. Desired SettlementI would like a full refund for the amount that I paid at the time services were rendered. I would like for A Carolina Locksmith to mail me a check to my home for 310.23 - the exact amount I paid for an hour's work that was not done properly. I do not wish for this company to make any of the repairs as compensation as they have already proven to charge double the rate of other locksmith's for inadequate work.

This company has called me 15 times in the last 7 months and does not leave a message as to why they have called. I never have done business with themThese are the dates and times they have called and not left a message919-256-861104-08-15 8:09 pm04-10-15 4:04 pm 04-14-15 7:09 pm04-22-15 2:05 pm04-27-15 8:08 pm 05-01-15 11:11 am05-04-15 8:54 pm05-08-15 6:00 pm05-12-15 8:40 pm05-14-15 7:35 pm05-31-15 5:01 pm07-06-15 8:52 pm07-14-15 8:37 pm09-16-15 6:57 pm11-19-15 7:35 pmDesired SettlementPlease tell them to stop the phone harassment.Business Response Dear [redacted]Thank you for bringing this to my attention. As we talked over the phone I am doing my very best to remove this phone number from anything that is attached to my business. For some reason this number has been mixed up somehow over the internet or phone company and has been attached to my business. I have called the phone company and told them about this matter as well. Also I have called the Attorney generals office. I do Apologize for any inconvenience that this matter has caused you! Thank you for being very polite!Reguards,[redacted]A Carolina Locksmith[redacted]Consumer Response I wish to thank the Revdex.com for their prompt attention to this matter and hopefully this phone harassment has now come to an end.Final Consumer Response

On Friday, March 21 I called this A Carolina Locksmith and asked his price for opening my house door which I had accidentally locked. I asked his price. [redacted] told me $85 to $125. I asked what would constitute the price being over $85. The answer given to me was "if it's more than basic ... say I had to damage the lock to allow entrance, it could be more to repair the damage."When he came he tried two tools, unlocked the door in a total of a couple of minutes. Said there was an object in keypad cylinder which he flicked out in a couple of seconds. Then I was presented with a bill for $143.50.$125 ...Open Schlage Keyed Entry $ 18.50 Extract Object From Keyed CylinderI call this bait and switch. He then said he'd be happy to refund my money if he undid his work so that I would be once again locked out and could call another locksmith that gave me a flat $85 price. At 5:00 on a Friday afternoon that didn't seem good option.I think other possible clients should be aware of this company and the way that they do business.Thank you.Product_Or_Service: Entrance to locked houseOrder_Number: XXXXXDesired SettlementRefund of the $40 dollars he charged over the $85 which he told me was the basic price and which I have found to be the going rate of other local locksmiths who are honest.
