Review: Abusive treatment from insane office manager -

I brought my cat in to A Cat Practice when I first adopted him and lived nearby in 2010. I had a very good experience at that time but moved to Virginia and took my cat somewhere closer to my home for the last couple of years. I recently purchased a home in [redacted] and I was glad to be near A Cat Practice again and so I brought my cat in for a check up. My cat's in overall good health but has a couple of minor problems with his food and I wanted to rule out any health issues.

I did not have any problems with the vet I saw (Dr. [redacted]) nor were there any issues with the receptionist at the front desk (not sure of her name). Dr. [redacted] suggested a blood test for my cat. She said that there were 2 tests - one costing 157 and a more comprehensive one for 177. I said to do the 177 test. So we finish up and I go to the front and pay my bill with a credit card. I take a quick look at it while they are running my card and I notice that the blood test is listed at 197 dollars. I say, "excuse me, is this right because the vet said it would be 177". The receptionist looks at it and says, "why did it do that?" and proceeds to press buttons and generally tries to fix it. The vet happened to come out and she told the receptionist to refund my 20 dollars. The receptionist fiddles with the credit card machine for a while and can't quite figure out how to take the money off my card.

Now the fun starts...The receptionist goes into the back and I can hear her ask someone how to refund my 20 dollars. I hear another woman who says, "NO, I'm sick and tired of these people who don't want to pay their bills. We already did her a favor because we didn't charge her for half of what we did. She needs to quit expecting a discount and take care of her cat."

Then this woman comes out to the front with the receptionist. I told her that I did not appreciate her attitude and that I was not trying to get out of anything, I only asked for clarification and it was the vet had said to refund the charge. She starts yelling that the vets are not supposed to quote prices and that I had received services that I had not been charged for and that I needed to pay my bills and that she was sick and tired of people like me who don't want to pay my bills. She said that a bunch of times like she was taking her anger over every deadbeat customer out on me.

I just kept saying WOW! over and over because I didn't know what else to say. I told her she needed to get more sleep, or maybe eat breakfast or take a vacation or something. Then she opens a drawer, pulls out a 20 dollar bill and SLAMS it on the counter and says, "THERE! Are you happy now?" so I asked her for her name and she writes it down ([redacted]) and throws the paper at me. I tell her I'm calling the owner, I tell her I'm calling the Revdex.com. Then she says, "you shouldn't even have a cat if you only take it to the vet every 3 years".

I left there shuddering at the thought of this person going anywhere near a helpless pet. I am glad I paid with a credit card because I already talked to my credit card company and I can dispute the entire 381 dollar charge due to her little outburst and I have witnesses (the vet, the receptionist and 2 customers) to her INSANE behavior. It seemed like the staff was afraid of her and no one told her to stop acting like a fool. The owner ([redacted]) was not present at the time but I will be contacting him as soon as possible.Desired Settlement: I want a personal apology from this employee and from the owner.
