A Clark Roofing & Siding LP Reviews (7)

I had a very disappointing experience with A ClarkTo begin with the workers did not show up to do the job and no one from A Clark returned any of my calls I left a message that I was cancelling the job due to the no show, but two days later a crew should up and began the job without my consent I ended up being steam rolled into consenting, but was also told by the worker that my quote was scamming me and he could do it properly if I paid him extra money under the table They also informed me of additional charges over $2k I had to consent to because the initial quote failed to consider cutting the stucco to install flashing along the roofline, and this was done in the ugliest, cheapest looking way possible I told the workers at the time that I didn't approve of this, but again was told he would fix it only if I paid him under the table My invoice was close to $14k for a house that is a little over 1000square feet and A Clark has told me since that they consider this work acceptableMy house looks horrible, permanently damaged, and I can't find anyone to fix it

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/06/11) */
Our service department was out April 22nd of this year to review the concernIt was noted that the leak is not caused by any installation error and was due to condensation forming inside the attic space based on design of the homeOur
warranty covers any deficiences caused by either workmanship or not to Alberta Building Code, in which case we have done the roof to specificationsThis was all explained to the customerWe have had rain since April 22nd and our records show they has been no calls of any leaks due to rain

Re: Roof condition report on residence located at ***
At your request, *** ***carried out a visual inspection of the asphalt shingle roof system on the above referenced homeThe inspection was carried out on May21,
The purpose of this inspection was to evaluate the overall condition of the laminated asphalt shingles and to determine what was causing the leakage to occur at porch and attic vent locations reported by yourselfWriter did not see any actual leaking occurring as he was advised that leakage only occurs at warming and cooling cycles throughout the winterThe attached report details my observations and recommendations
This report is based only on a visual inspection of the current roof system and is not intended to comment on the structure or fire safety integrity of the building as may be required by municipal, provincial or federal codes and regulationsPlease note that no destructive testing was carried out
Should you have any questions regarding any of the enclosed material, please feel free to contact myself at

OBSERVATIONS
Based upon my visual inspection of the laminated shingle roof system on the residence, writer is of the opinion that the shingle install at porch and main roof on house has not been carried out as per shingle manufacturer's recommendationsAt time of inspection writer noted that the tops of the shingles from porch to main house had been cut off to allow for installationThis would indicate that the main house had been shingled first and porch area was last
It is the writer's opinion that the leakage that has been occurring during warming/cooling cycles is being caused by ice damming occurring between the warm attic space of the main house roof and the cool air being emitted from the porch roofThe below recommendations should eliminate the ice damming
Writer is recommending the following:
o Remove existing roof system down to wood decking on porch and up on slope of house feet
o Install ice and water shield over entire roof and on to main house feet
o Install metal eave flashings
o Install new laminated shingles to metal style and colour of house

Final Business Response /* (4000, 26, 2015/08/21) */
There is nothing wrong with our workmanshipWe have been out several times to determine whether there has been any leak that the customer has been pointing outAt one time we were out when it rained and never seen any sign of leak
The inspection report was inaccurate and we determined that the report left a lot of unanswered questions
*** warranty is only based on material issues that we were not aware of by the manufacture*** warranty also was not acknowledge by the customer in a promptly matter and I am sure has expired
If there is anything we did that would cause a leak due to our workmanship then we would certainly look after the warrantyIn this case we are satisfied with our findings and have not seen any evidence at this time that would warrant any type of replacement
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 28, 2015/08/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Jay D*** of A Clark Roofing personally came out in the spring of and witnessed the roof leaking and he personally hacked away a ice dam on the roof with an axe to alleviate the water leakThe Accredited Alberta Roofing Contractors Association inspectors report needs to be upheld as obviously the venting attempts were an inadequate fix
This problem has not yet to date been resolved and further damage to the property will continue with delayI reiterate my request for resolveWe have photos and others who are witness to this

Quite happy with A Clark EdmontonHired them to reroof my bungalow in MillwoodsCame out to quote the job right away, recommended some venting improvements, job started within weeks of signing the contractIt was obvious the crew took pride in their work, they were very pleased to show off the finished productCleanup was very goodFinal price was the same as the original estimate

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/28) */
We received a request to give *** & *** *** a quote for their roof "We would like to get a quote on shingles and Eaves for our house." on May 20th, There was no request to make an appointment for the quoteThe estimator
did not go on the roofWe have to go on potential customer's property to give estimates and to them put the quote in mailboxSome of our estimators call and follow up before quoting and some do the quote and follow up after, which is what would have happened hereSo, we were going to contact them as per the email sentThis would have addressed any of their concerns and questions***We provided a requested service to the customer and I do not know how they are going to get quotes without estimators going to their house*** We are sorry that the ***'s are upset we gave them their requested quote and that they weren't home at the time we did said quoteWe are also sorry that Mrs*** thinks we didn't care ***
