I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***Please add your rejection comments below. Please be aware that when I first spoke with ***, he told me that the mechanic that went out of business, brought my car to A & D himself, so I am unsure of who actually did the inspection? He is also good friends with him and the mechanic *** *** is in Rehab! I tried to take the car back to *** days after he took my money and he was gone....another mechanic looked at my car and said *** did NOTHING to my car, and he also stole items from the other mechanics he shares bays withWhen I spoke to *** I told him I was going to go to the police and he talked me out of it, saying *** is a good guy*** said he would help me and work out a payment with me after he fixed the carAfter the fact, he yelled at me on the phone because I called the State, and when I asked about making payments, he told me " NOPE, pay it in full otherwise your not getting your car." When I asked him if there was any warranty with the work that he did he said again " NOPE"....Handed me my keys and walked away from meIt seems funny that is was so nice to me until I called the State inspection Office....*** also told me " I could get in a lot of trouble if you bring your car down to the State" Why was he so worried if he did nothing wrongI had to borrow money to get my car and he treated me like garbage AFTER I Paid Him In FULL....I will never recommend any one to go thereI am an year old woman and I did not deserve to be treated so rotten, because I have every right to call the State and ask questions.....that is my right, we do live in the USA Right? All he did was plugs and wires, and I know he jacked up the prices for those too....I did ask around....NEVER NEVER will I go there for ANYTHING EVER! I will also let everyone I know how he treats people.

when the vehicle was purchased the brakes were in very good working order and passed inspection as well, the customer test drove the vehicle on two occasions once by herself and once with her mechanic friend and everything was fine, months later she had issues with brakes in which could
happen to any vehicle at anytime especially a vehicle yrs old, when she purchased vehicle she stated she needed a 4xto travel a gravel road to get to her house so with that being said its possible it could have been damaged during that period, but any vehicle could experience a caliper or slide pin or hose to fail causing excess pad weareither way I told the customer to get vehicle to my shop and I would take care of it even though warranty was up I still offered to help her! she refused to bring vehicle back as her friend dismantled the vehicle in a parking lot located in Ledyard Connecticut some where! I repeatedly asked for the vehicle to return to my shop so the issue could be addressed and repaired but she found it more gratifying for herself and her friends to slander my business! very unfair as im trying to satisfy and accommodate her in every way! I do my best to keep everyone happy but theres always one you cant no matter how hard you try!

The problem is not that the brakes were damaged during disassembly. They were rusted so badly that the parts fall to pieces in my hands. We test drove the car twice for maybe 5 miles total, and at that point the brakes were being held together by rust. After about 1000 miles of use, rust started to shear off, the pieces of the brakes shook free, the tire was covered in red dust, and there was nothing left of the brake pads. He claims that my "mechanic friend" test drove the car with me, but it was my boyfriend. He thinks it sounds more convincing to claim that my boyfriend is a professional mechanic now, but when he said the damage was my fault, he tried to claim the damage was done because my boyfriend is *not* a professional mechanic. That's moot. The damage was from rust and poor maintenance. It should have been repaired before it was inspected, or it should not have passed inspection. Either way would have cost him money. I didn't refuse to return the vehicle. The vehicle is undrivable, and I refused to spend any more money on towing or repair. I've had to have it towed twice since I bought it, once for misfiring (which also shouldn't have passed inspection, but in this case, wasn't as dangerous to me as the brakes). He said he would send a tow truck to pick it up, and they never showed. He claimed he was still looking for a truck that would drive to where the vehicle quit, and that was CT, but I have no confidence he ever intended to help me. I still have possession of the vehicle, it's still in terrible condition, and I no longer want him to have access to it without my legal counsel present until I get my money back. I do not want a repair. I don't trust the vehicle, and I don't trust him or his repair shop to do the job. A coworker told me she had the exact same experience with him several years ago, and they had him pay an outside mechanic to repair her brakes. I just want my money back. He also needs to learn the difference between slander and libel, and to understand that honest reviews are neither. He either didn't inspect the car, or he did, and saw the rust, and passed the vehicle anyway. Regards,
[redacted]

I never claimed her boyfriend was a mechanic, in fact I said the opposite! she likes to put words in my mouth! that's why he had no business taking it apart and I didn't say he caused damage either I said the rough terrain she was driving in could have caused damage!!  I don't trust anything that comes out of this persons mouth! one time she stated she only drove the vehicle 500 miles, then it was 1200 miles now its 1000 miles, all in my emails! again the brakes were in good condition when the vehicle left the lot and passed inspection as well, she states rust was holding them together which is not [possible as rust is not an adhesive and can not hold parts together! and every vehicle on the road has brake dust on the wheels! and every rotor has rust! again its raw steel and steel rusts extremely fast! I will gladly name the tow company's I called and they refused to cross state lines! she needs to contact her [redacted] and have vehicle towed at least to her house in Rhode island! that's not asking a lot from her and is more than reasonable! its obvious this girl had a plan to drive a 4x4  vehicle for free to get her through the winter to pass over her rough gravel terrain then return it when done as well as slander and bully the company shes targeting! anyone can see the slander on the site and reviews from total strangers to the company! I don't trust this person or what comes out of her mouth, if she returns vehicle with the title I will buy it back! and I want all the frivolous remarks removed from my site!this person will never be satisfied regardless how hard one try's!

Response to [redacted]'s complaint    Hello, My name is [redacted]. I am the owner and representative of A and D Auto Repair in [redacted], Rhode Island, which is a Rhode Island State Inspection Station. The complainant's vehicle was brought to my establishment from another...

mechanic garage for an inspection. I did not work on the complainant's vehicle prior to inspection on March 9, 2016. Over a month later the complainant came to my shop saying that I inspected her vehicle and it does not start. Her mechanic who originally brought the car down for the inspection is now out of business. The complainant had her vehicle towed to my establishment. To treat my customers fairly I had to complete repairs I had already started. I also needed time to properly diagnose the complainant's vehicle as of why it was not starting. The complainant was not happy with this and called State of Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles - Safety and Emission Control Division. I later received a call from [redacted], the supervisor of this division. I explained exactly what had happened with the complainant. I explained that I only charged her for parts and did the labor for free as I was trying to help a person stuck without a mechanic. [redacted] told me to get paid in full for the repairs and that he will have her go to their division for a complete thorough inspection. An hour later I received a call from the complainant. I told her the repairs and cost. I tried explaining to her that by calling the state to complete an inspection, will be costly and that she would most likely not be able to pay those types of bills as she was already worried about what I was charging her. The only goal I had was to help this woman when she was in a tight spot with her mechanic out of business. I have no fear of calls from the state, as I am an inspection station that follows every rule and regulation that I am supposed to. I am including photos of the bill and inspection report that I gave to the complainant. I hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you.
