I dealt with Rapid Plumbing for a root issue between our clean out and the tie in with the city. The details are below, but for other customers reading this: essentially, Jacob with Rapid came out, rotor routed 1 time, did not test his work and left. He was very condescending acting as if we were stupid when we asked questions. Not 10 days later we had the SAME issue again. We were told it by Jason at Rapid Plumbing that it would be AT LEAST $600 to come out and no apology or concern for the work not being done correctly the first time. I called to complain, Jason (manager) continuously interrupted me, told me we should have been charged more than double what we were charged, and did not express concern when I shared my experience of the plumbers attitude and obvious evidence the job wasn't done properly.
Jacob came out on time. I tried to explain what was going on and he acted as if I was dumb right off the bat but did say it was likely the main line needed to be rotor routed between the sewage cleanout and the street. I tried to ask questions about the issue, he repeatedly blew me off. When we expressed concerns he was extremely condescending. He rotor routed 1 time and pulled up a small clump of roots. My parents happened to be in town who have been in the construction business for 40+ years--they asked about how far he went out from the sewage cleanout and we also asked about the pipe material. He completely blew us off, said "I don't know" when we asked how many feet out he was since we wanted him to check past the obstruction to ensure there weren't more roots. He did not test his work besides running the water and flushing the toilet. When the toilet flushed we noticed something looked off as it was still slow and rose a little- he made us feel like is for asking. Overall he was here for less than 30 minutes, charged us $90 and left. 10 days later the toilet overflowed big time. We called, couldn't reach anyone, left a message. Since they did not say they had emergency hours we called other plumbers to see who could come out. We received quotes ranging from $115 to $325 because of the holiday--we understood the extra fees as it was Sunday New Year's weekend but wanted to give Rapid Plumbing a chance since they worked on the issue before.
My husband received a call back from Jason, later learning he was a manager. My husband explained the issue and asked about them coming back out--stressing that it was only 10 days later. Rather than getting any further explanation or discussion from Jason he was curtly told it would be AT LEAST $600 to come back out and informed us we were outside of the 7 day warranty. My husband got the sense this guy did not want to come out, said we aren't paying that, thank you, and hung up. I got another company to come out who quoted $325 and could respond quickly (some others could not, understandable). Within an hour someone was at our home. They rotor routed the same main line and pulled up roots. They went again to be sure and there were more roots, a lot. This continued for 4 times as they tested each time. Then the new plumber decided to leave and get a larger tool with blades due to the severity of the issue. Finally they had it resolved, thoroughly tested their work, and charged $300. The new plumber seemed surprised we had a professional plumber do the job, these roots didn't grow like this in a weeks time.
I called Rapid Plumbing to speak to a manager and Jason called me back fairly quickly. I started to explain the issue and told him I understand you probably won't give me my money back but I wanted to share my poor experience. He did not address this at first but rather immediately told me that we should have paid $200, not $90. I explained I paid what was charged- obviously this is an employee problem, not mine. I shared my experience and was continuously interrupted. Rather than listening to the issues he went on and on about how my husband hung up on him. I had to tell him several times that I was with my husband, heard him say we are not paying that, thanks, before hanging up. Jason did not want to admit that he simply threw a price at us and curtly told us we were outside of warranty- he didn't even say whether he could come out the same day before throwing out this overpriced quote. It was evident that Jason was not concerned that there could be an issue, never admitted that something COULD have been done incorrectly. He finally stated after several "supposedly(s)" that IF he was to find an issue he maybe could have been more flexible on fixing it. Regardless, the plumber was condescending and did not check his work. It's extremely disappointing to call and be argued with, interrupted, and blamed by the manager.
