A & E Bathtub Refinishing Reviews (1)

I hope my review spares other home owners from a nightmare I had with A&E Bathtub Refinishing. A&E is a dishonest company and they DO NOT honor their promises. I paid them to refinish my kitchen sink. I also paid Xtra for the special glazing that they offered. Well, the next day, after the sink was dried/cured. I noticed that the sink had holes and bubbles everywhere. Also, the glaze missed half of the sink.

I called A&E back and they said they will send someone to redo the sink. The same two techs came back. It was obvious that they were resentful that they had to come back to redo my sink. As they were setting up their equipments, I noticed that they didn't have anything on the floor to protect my new [redacted] floor. I asked if they could use something underneath their compressor so my floor won't get scratch or damage. One of the tech barked "Don't worry about it, nothing will happen to your floor!" Looking back, I should have sent them back home right then.

Minutes after they left, I noticed that there was a big fresh gash/hole on my floor where their machine was. I personally hand cleaned the entire floor the night before and the spot was not there. From the night before until the morning when A&E came, my place was vacant. I immediately called Greg A&E's manager and notified him that his techs had damaged my [redacted] floor. I then sent him some pics of the damage. After he saw the pics, he said the owner Alonzo will call me.

Alonso/owner came out 2 days later and offered to pay me 75$ for the damage. I politely told him that I rather that he fixes the floor. He then told me that Greg is going to call me to work things out. The next day, Greg said he would send out his floor guy and have it fix for me. His floor guy came and stated that there is no way he could repair the floor. The reason is because a [redacted] floor is unlike regular wood floors, you can't just replace one damaged plank. You have to replace almost the entire room. But the worst news is that he said he won't be able to find the matching batch of Pergo. You can't use any Pergo because the dye lot will be different. He has been doing flooring for 25 years and he suggested the best way to fix this problem is to cover the entire room with other materials like linoleum or tiles etc. He stated that either way, it will be costly. He also will notify A&E of his findings.

I then called Greg and discussed the next best and cheapest option which is to use linoleum to cover the room where the damaged hole is. I told him that it would cost about $650. Greg apologized & reassured me that once it is done, just send them the bill and A&E would reimburse the cost.

I trusted their words and had the floor done. I then sent A&E the bill per their instructions. I sent it so many different ways: via FedEx, certified mail, etc. addressing to both A&E and Alonso. But they were all returned undeliverable. A&E went as far as lied to the mail man and [redacted] that they had the wrong address. And get this huge lie: "no one is there with the name of [redacted]". (BTW, these were all written on the returned envelopes when it couldn't be delivered). As you can see, they do NOT honor their words and A&E resorted to using such underhanded tactics to avoid taking responsibility for their action when they damage something in your house. Imagine paying top dollars for their service but ended up stuck with a bill of over $650. It would have cost me less getting a brand new sink.

Dealing with this for the last year, I've learned that A&E has no integrity and the owner is a liar. Stop trying to blame another company. NO ONE was working on anything THE DAY that A&E came. I personally hand cleaned the floor the night before. In the pics I sent to Greg immediately after the techs left, my floor was spotless with the exception of the gash/hole that they've caused. Lies and more lies. A person's word is everything in business and in life! It is absolutely unprofessional and unethical not to take responsibility for your actions and your promises.

Bottom line: A&E is responsible for damaging my floor that is why they offered me $75 to compensate. They even sent out their "floor man" to give me the estimate to repair the floor. Both Alonzo and Greg reassured me that A&E will reimburse me for the cost of the repair. Would you've sent out your own floor man to fix something and apologized if you didn't cause the damage?

It is so obvious that when A&E found out the repair cost is higher than they had thought. A&E dealt with it by cutting off all communications and stuck me with a $650 bill. Instead of facing me, they dodged and ran rejecting all mails/calls hoping that this issue would just go away. My patience has ran out after 1 year. This has forced me to use this forum to air out my grievances .

Please STAY AWAY from this company at all cost! You will regret using them after they damage your house and won't pay for it.
