A Family Heirloom Reviews (6)

Review: On April 11, 2013 [redacted] of A Family Heirloom received some property from me on consignment. After multiple attempts to contact him for an update on the status there was no response on his part. I have made approximately 10 attempts with no positive results using the phone, and internet. At this time I consider him to be missing with my items. His home and business appear to be empty and the home is for sale.Desired Settlement: The items he has on consignment are valued between $2000 and $3000. I would like the items returned or to be given a fair payment for the items.

Review: I met owner [redacted] at one of my church events, and called him to have him assess some of my antiques. On April 24, 2013, [redacted] came to my home and looked at items that I showed him and he explained that he could sell these for me on consignment, and I would receive 50% of what he sold them for. He gave me a Consignment form and listed what he took: mixed silver pieces, wooden silver box, 4 piece silver serving pieces, mixed costume jewelry lot, and a cigarette box. He said that he would email to me an excel spreadsheet with the itemization of each thing and what he sold them for.I followed up with him many times over the following months. He gave me this reply by email on Oct 11, 2013:Jill,All of your items have now sold and I am just waiting for payment on two things.I will send as much as possible. I will have at least partial payment for you, and get paid every two weeks after that. I know I do not deserve any empathy from you but know that I am going to pay you in full. Things are going to be better financially, provided I can keep this job. Thanks for your consideration.[redacted]I never received anything from him. I kept calling and emailing and gave him my new address and cell phone number. I believe this business closed, but he opened a new one.Desired Settlement: I would like an itemization of the items he took, what he sold them for, and payment for 50%.

Review: In December of 2012 I arranged for A Family Heirloom Antiques, LLC to sell on consignment the furniture in my CT home as I was moving out of state. Just about all the furniture in my home was put on consignment 12/27/12. The last contact I have had with this business was on 2/9/13 at which time I was informed by the owner Mr. Liscomb that all the furniture had been sold and he was waiting for the balance of his payment before I would be paid. At that time he strangely could not tell me what dollar amount the furniture had sold for. I waited to hear back from Mr. Liscomb until 3/5/13 and contacted him again to finalize the account and secure payment. To this date I have yet to receive a response from Mr. Liscomb. I have emailed him on 3/5/13, 3/10/13, 3/14/13 and left voice mail messages on 3/15/13, 3/16/13 and 3/18/13.....he has not returned any of my numerous contacts. I recently also sent a certified letter indicating my desire to finalize the account and indicated that I expected to be paid by 3/29/12. I have a return receipt for this certified letter indicating the letter was received on 3/22/13. The return receipt was signed by the co-owner/wife Jessica Liscomb. I am seeking assistance in resolution of this issue, with payment in full for my furniture.

I want to apologize for the lag in communication as we completed the accounting of Ms. Miscia's items selling under consignment.

Over the past several years our business has suffered serious financial loss and, as a result, we have met with a financial counselor to assess our present situation.

We acknowledge our indebtedness to Ms. Miscia of $801.00 and fully intend to pay it in full.

Please know that we have invested ten years of time, money and effort into this family business and we value our reputation.

We will send out payment in full, along with an accounting of all lots sold, as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Scott Liscomb

Review: [redacted] of A Family Heirloom has ignored my numerous requests to pay me for items consigned 9 months ago

I met with [redacted] at my house on September 19, 2012 and showed him numerous items from the estate of my late brother-in-law. He offered me $1550 in cash (which in retrospect I obviously should have taken)or the option to consign the items to him for a 35% consignment fee. [redacted] indicated that the latter option would probably yield over $2000 for me if I was just willing to wait 2-3 months for my items to sell. Starting in late November, I started sending emails to [redacted] every month or so asking about the status of my account. Each time (even back in November) he stated that the account should be nearly complete and he would send me a final billing once he returned from his business trip. After not receiving any check, I would contact him again and he would respond with a similar email that he was again out of town and would settle my account upon his return. In a February email, he responded that he would not settle my account until all items were sold and he was sorry if I didn't understand this. In May I sent a followup requesting that he return any of my items that hadn't yet sold as they probably wouldn't after 8 months, along with payment for what he did sell. I also even gave him the option of just sending me a check for the initial $1550 he had offered me in cash, if it was somehow too difficult for him to complete the appropriate accounting. I have not received any response from him since February, and obviously no money. I have an itemized invoice from A Family Heirloom that [redacted] filled out when he picked up my items, and this includes [redacted]'s assessment of the values of my goods. Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a check for $1550 at least, and would really expect closer to the $2000 [redacted] indicated my items would net me using his consignment service. I have been waiting not just the 2-3 months he indicated, but 9 months. It has been a huge hassle trying to get [redacted] to pay what he owes me, and I would greatly appreciate your help in resolving this matter.

We have been diligently selling off the items received and have found the market very slow over the last year.

At this time approximately 80 percent of the items have been picked up. We will be able to sell the rest off by the end of July. At that time we will provide a full accounting of items sold, along with payment.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/07/10) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

If, indeed, I receive a check and accounting for my items by the end of July as promised by [redacted], then I accept the settlement. But given that I've received numerous similar email responses from him in the past, until I actually receive the payment, I would like to keep the complaint file open. Revdex.com requested a response from me by July 17th and I doubt that I will have resolution at that time.

Review: In May of 2010 our Ct. home was for sale so we invited Mr. [redacted] the owner/manager of "A Family Heirloom,LLC" to review our antiques and other misc. items and take those he could sell on a consignment basis. At the time he told me it could take some time to sell all these items. A colleague of his came with him when he came to collect the items he would take as he did not take old recordings but his associate would. At the time I gave [redacted] my new address ,phone and e-mail address and never heard a word. One year elapsed and in May 2011 I tried calling him and sent an e-mail to him at [redacted]@yahoo.com and again never received a response. The same happened in May of 2012. In late March of this year I finally caught him on the phone two times and he admitted that all the items have been sold and he had received payment from his colleague for the recordings. I sent him two letters to confirm our conversations and politely asked for payment of proceeds from the sale. Nothing has been forthcoming. I truly believe that three years to wait for payment of an estimated $445.00 gross sale is not only outrageous but dishonest.

I have never used the Revdex.com to voice a complaint however I feel that this deserved your attention because the Co. in question is a registered member of your organization which is recognized for its scrutiny of businesses practices. Obviously, "A Family Heirloom, LLC" lacks the integrity and honesty in this instance and should be removed from your list of approved business. Payment of this long overdue debt would of course change their standing. Respectfully, E.A.[redacted]

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

The 24th of May 2013 marks the third year since we handed our items over to "A Family Heirloom". I understand the seriousness of a business financial loss, however I can not in good conscience accept his response without an absolute

payment date in view of Mr.[redacted]'s other imcome sources. I hope to keep this case# open with Revdex.com

as one of my Advocates until full payment is received.

Review: In October 2012 I consigned antique items to [redacted] of A Family Heirloom to sell on my behalf. At that time he informed me that it would take about six weeks. Since that time, I have been attempting to contact Mr. [redacted] by phone and email concerning my items. I received several very vague emails from him and I finally drove to his house to confront him in late April 2013. Unfortunately, I only got his wife who phoned her husband on her cellphone and let me speak with him. He told me he would send me a check the following week. I never received a check from him. In early May I got an email from Mr. [redacted] indicating he was having financial issues and needed a 120-day moratorium, but that he intended to pay me the $415 he owed me and would be in close contact with me. The 120 days are up; I have called and emailed Mr. [redacted] to no avail. This man is still in business and I assume is still stealing from other people. I want my money and I also want a detailed accounting from him concerning my items he sold. I want this resolved soon as it's been almost a year. Anything you can do to help me would be greatly appreciated.Desired Settlement: He tells me he owes me $415. I want $415 plus a detailed accounting of the items he sold (each item plus amount he got for it, and his expenses on my behalf). Any thing you could do to get this man to pay me what he owes me would be greatly appreciated.
