A Few Good Men Movers have moved my family a total of times in the last years They have always done an excellent job! They are friendly when you call the office They are prompt and professional when giving estimates The moving crew is amazing They are careful and professional and pleasant to work with I mean lets face it you end up spending the better part (if not a whole) day with the crew! They were even friendly to my kids! A Few Good Men will continue to be the only mover we use! I love that they are local and family owned! I would much rather do business with A Few Good Men than one of those national chains that doesn't treat my like a person

Found them online and called them for a quote and date. Spoke with [redacted] who was absolutely fantastic to deal with. I sent her pictures and descriptions of my 5 storage units in [redacted]. They estimated within 400 pounds of the actual weight. They arrived in [redacted] at the crack of dawn, loaded, and unloaded back in [redacted] in the early afternoon. No time wasted with these guys they were clearly on a mission to get my stuff delivered. [redacted] and his guys were super professional, asking where things needed to go and being careful not to park on my newly poured cement driveway. They laid down blankets in the hallways and even assembled our dining room table before they left. They were less expensive and available earlier than other companies. [redacted] and his guys were great and I highly recommend them.

I would highly recommend this company for all your moving needs, small or big!

WORST MOVING COMPANY YOU CAN PICK. You will get overcharged. How? By them taking double and triple the time quoted to do a job. It was ridiculous how long it took for them to load the truck. It took an hour for them just to move the bedroom set. Not only that, but they damaged my home and claim they never did! I had to buy material to fix the damages to my walls before I could finishing selling my house the next day. I've never felt so robbed.

My family has used A Few Good Men Moving and Storage a total of 4 times since we moved from VA Beach last summer. I can't say enough GREAT things about their customer service. Our quotes received on our moves never changed, because we showed them exactly what we needed moved without any added weight. If we changed our minds and added our storage unit to be moved, then sure the price would change and thats expected. The movers were always courteous, on time and took explicable care of our furniture during each move. The men moving our furniture worked very hard on each of our four moves, within the year. We never had any issues with damaged furniture and they took great care of our belongings. Each move they used the moving blankets and other moving protectors to prevent any damages. We are getting ready to use AFGMMS again just for a moving truck unload once we get our new furniture from a furniture store in Charlotte, NC. I would highly recommend A Few Good Men Moving and Storage to anyone who needs a moving company to help with a move/truck unload.

This company did not complete contracted service. Asked for more money to complete the job already contracted and paid for. They straight out lied about moving us. They told us they did not want to move some heavy items down the basement stairs. We have a walk out basement and they asked us if we would mind if they came back when the weather improved at no extra charge and move the items then. They owners father was actually at my house during the move and told us they would do this. Well, a few days later I called to schedule the appointment and we were told we would be charged an additional $150 to finish moving our furniture that we already paid in full for them to move!!!. I asked to speak to the owner 3 days in a row and the receptionist kept telling me that "[redacted]" would call me. He never did. In total, we tried 7 times to get in touch with the owner to understand why were asked to pay additional money and he refused to call back. Poorest customer service and upmost unprofessionalism I've ever experienced.Desired SettlementWe would like a refund for $150 that we were told would be charged to finish moving our couch and dresser that we already paid for. Business Response /[redacted]/We were protecting the best interest of our customer from any lawsuit that could have happened from a mover getting hurt on their property and we were protecting the best interest of our movers from getting hurt on the job. The reason for not placing the items in the basement was because there was only one way to get down there. It was a snow and ice covered hill and it was deemed unsafe for our guys. According to the North Carolina Utilities Commission who governs household moving Section 1 Rule 36 &37 of the Tariff states that we do not need to perform tasks that are deemed unsafe, see below. It was physically impossible to get the large items to the basement using the interior stairs. At no time were they told that there would not be an extra charge. They were told to call our office and schedule a time with us if they would like us to come back and place the items in their basement once the snow and ice were gone. We do not work for free as I'm sure they do not as well. That is where the problem arose. They wanted us to come back for free and we told them there would be a charge and it would be our minimum charge of $105. According to the commission we completed our job and were well within our rights to charge a fee to place the items in the basement. The Commission can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX."RULE 36IMPRACTICABLE OPERATIONThe carrier shall not be obligated to perform pickup or delivery or render any service at a place or places from or to which it is impracticable to operate vehicles because of:(1) The condition of roads, streets, driveways, alley, or approaches thereto.(2) Inadequate loading or unloading facilities.(3) Any riot, strike, picketing, or other labor disturbance.RULE 37IMPRACTICAL PICKUP/DELIVERY OR AUXILIARY SERVICE(A) When a shipment is tendered for delivery at destination address and it is physically impossible to complete delivery directly from transporting vehicle due to inaccessibility of the building, its structure, or the nature of an article or articles included in the shipment, the carrier may place the shipment or any part thereof not reasonably possible of delivery, in storage at the nearest available warehouse of the carrier, or a commercial warehouse to the order and expense of the shipper, owner, or consignee of the goods. When the shipment or any part thereof is stored in a commercial warehouse, liability of the carrier ceases upon delivery to the warehouse; and when stored in the carrier's warehouse or that of the carrier's agent, liability after the delivery to the warehouse shall be that of the warehouseman and not a common carrier. All accrued charges shall be due and payable upon delivery of the shipment or any part thereof to the warehouse (and later delivery to a final destination shall constitute a new shipment). The transportation shall be based upon the total mileage computed from origin to final destination via initially billed destination."

Horrible experience from the beginning. I went over the contents to be moved. I was told that they would send 4 men. 2 showed up. They arrived late, took hours to load, left lots of furniture behind in the old house including my bed. They refused to complete the move. No compensation offered. The move was 3.5 hours away. I drove 7 hours today just to meet the movers at the new house. I asked to be reimbursed for food bought for their movers (movers asked me for water and food) and was told by the owners mother that if I deducted for the amount of food, she would call the sheriffs dept. They are rude beyond belief, lie, and threaten. They are more like criminals than professional movers. KEEP LOOKING BEFORE USING THESE PEOPLE. SIMPLY S HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I had a quote from [redacted] in Apex and wish I had gone with them! Horrible day!

Breech of contract. Did not deliver all items from home. Damaged both homes, pick up and drop off locations. Will not respond to calls or emails. Our contract was for moving our entire contents of our home from Wake Forest to High Point. Estimated weight 9000lbs, only weighed 7800lbs. The contract was to pack and pick up the contents of the entire home on June 17 and deliver it the morning of the 18th. After a half dozen calls all day, waiting for them at our home in High Point, we kept getting told 'they are on their way' At 5pm we were getting nervous. [redacted], the receptionist said they were on their way. They did not show up at our home until 930pm on June 18. We did not want the truck unloaded at that time because they had to reassemble beds and furniture and we have 3 children to put to bed. We were going to go to a hotel. They insisted in unloading everything because they had another job in the morning. They began unloading. We had atleast 100 boxes and then all of our larger items of furniture. They did not complete the job until 2:45 a.m on June 19! They discounted the bill $100. After unpacking we started to notice things were missing. I had my neighbor go to the Wake Forest address. She emailed me pictures. The pictures revealed many of the items we were missing, damage to the house (laundry room floor was ripped in 2 places), fast food trash left in the house, patio furniture left, 3 oscillating fans left, two end tables, a vacuum cleaner, brooms, mops, our kitchen trash can, several large wall hangings, a chair, several boxes containing photo albums, boxes of Christmas ornaments and decor, enough to fill 3 cars. I contacted A Few Good Men by phone to ask when they could finish the job they were contracted to do. They did not answer so I left a message. I did the same by email, no response. I emailed them all of the pictures and my concerns, no response. We had to drive back to Wake Forest to retrieve all of our missing items. It is 90 miles one way. We do not own a truck so we took 3 cars. The cars were all filled to the roof as well as the trunks packed full. There were so many items we could not bring them all and left several out for the trash. Upon delivery they broke a desk and end table and said "sorry" . I asked for a claim form the next day and they emailed me one. It is noted on the claim form, "All missing or damaged items MUST be noted on the bill of lading at drop off." They did not note these damaged items. Also we were not able to unpack 100 boxes while they waited so all of our damaged items will not qualify for the insurance we paid extra for, because these items were not listed as damaged on the delivery paperwork. After unpacking everything over the next few days my daughter noticed she is missing her expensive $120 Jack Rogers brand sandals and a Coach purse she paid $200 for. My husband is missing 30 DVD's that were in the desk they broke. They also said the desk was broken when they arrived on the 17th, this is not true, the desk was sanding with a computer on it and DVD's in the cabinet. They broke it when disassembling it. We had to again, take 3 cars and spend an entire day packing them up, drove 180 miles each totaling 540 miles for all of us. [redacted], the owner told me when he came to do the estimate in May 2014, that "it was easy being the best in the Raleigh area when all the other companies were so horrible." He told me what a man of integrity he was and a Christian. He said he had been doing this for years and he assured me our items were in good hands. His sales pitch is one reason we chose his company.Desired SettlementI do not feel a $100 refund is acceptable for being late and keeping us up until almost 3a.m. More concerning to me is the fact that they did not fulfill the contract and left so many items behind that we had to go retrieve ourselves. Even more concerning to me is the fact they will not respond to any emails and their claim form is bogus because you cannot possibly know exactly what is lost, damaged or missing upon delivery unless you opened every box. So now we cannot get reimbursement for those broken, damaged and lost items. We also have a ripped floor in our old home. A fair settlement to us would be 20% which is $640 because we had to complete the job for them, at our own time, labor and expense. We were also inconvenienced and kept up until 3a.m because of them. We hired them to do the job because we didn't want to do it ourselves and in the end, that's what happened with some of the contents of the home, that they were contracted to do and didn't.Business Response /[redacted]/In reference to the move of [redacted] and [redacted] completed on June 18, 2014. It states in the North Carolina Utilities brochure in Section XI titled "Loading day of Moving 101" ..."Either you or your representative should be present at the time of loading and unloading... Once loading has been complete, you and the driver should walk through the house to make sure all items are on the truck"[redacted] and [redacted] received the Moving 101 on the day of the estimate in a hard copy brochure and in a PDF format on May 13 via a confirmation email that we send to all of our customers after they have booked their move. On the day of the move they signed off on their paperwork stating that they have received it. There was misinterpretation of an email breaking down her upcoming move. We stated "We have you on our schedule for packing your home on Tuesday, 6/17 arriving to [redacted] Wake Forest between X:XX -X:XX. On Wednesday, 6/18 we will arrive between X:XX - X:XX to load your items and complete your move." On the day of packing [redacted] informed us that they believed we would be there on 6/17 to load up all items and head to her unload address. She was informed that we did not have the crew to complete her packing and move in one day. She and her family left 1 hour after our men arrived on packing day to head to her new address 92 miles away. They left our crew to finish packing on 6/17. We loaded the items on our trucks the next day ( 6/18) without anyone being present. They gave us codes to access the house since no one would be present. Before they left Mr. [redacted] walked around with our crew leader and pointed to the items in the garage and said "We will take those, don't worry about them." On loading day we inspected a pressboard desk that was to be moved. We discovered that the desk was already broken. Our crew leader took photos of the desk and called [redacted] to let her know about the damage. We delivered the end table in question in one piece. On the loading day the heat index was 109° and we felt it best to send another man and another truck to help the load go smoother. At these extreme temperatures our men must take frequent cool down periods as to not overheat. This is a major factor as to why it took so long to load their items. We kept [redacted] and [redacted] informed throughout the loading day. When the men arrived to their unload address, [redacted] rushed over and demanded that the driver call the owner. Once the owner was on the phone she took the phone out of the employee's hand and walked down the road expressing her opinions. We agreed to pay for a hotel so Mrs. [redacted] and her children could go to bed and not wait any longer. We took $100 off their bill for this, it was not a refund. They never ended up going to a hotel that evening. Once the job was completed they tipped the gentlemen $50 each and said they did a great job. They signed the 'Uniform household goods bill of lading' stating 'All property was received in good condition, except as noted on the inventory form.' Our gentlemen were asked to move an appliance that Lowe's would not move into her home after we had completed the move we were scheduled to complete. This move took place on Thursday, June 18 and over the following weekend we were sent 11 emails on a day our office was closed demanding us to get back to her by the end of that day. It is because of the rude and demanding nature of these e-mails that we did not reply. They are trying to ruin the good reputation of our company because the job took longer than expected and because they did not complete what they said they would. We will be happy to forward the emails sent from them and the confirmation email sent on May 13, 2014. Consumer Response /[redacted]/We tipped the HARD working poor employees who had to WORK 18 hours and stay at our home until 3am. That alone says so much about our character and integrity, something [redacted], the owner of a Few Good Men lacks. The gentelmen did their best, the practice of the company is not their fault. One guy had to be at UPS at 6a.m as working for 'A few good men' is his second job. One guy's wife called him and told him he needed to quit as these hours were ridiculous. Another's girlfriend was texting him as he only worked for the company for 2 weeks asking him if he was OK. His reference of the 'brochures' we received does not state unloading a truck at 3am is part of the deal .Companies that refer you to their contract and brochures are companies that want an 'out' of offering customer service. The 11 emails contained PICTURES of the damages and items left behind, how can they even begin to deny it. We will be glad to share those emails with you as well. A company that DOES NOT RESPOND to damages, is a guilty company. It is unfortunate rather than offering good customer service a company who cares about their reputation would choose this route. Not to mention the labor laws that were violated and have been reported. I would not recommend this business to anyone. They are shady, shotty people. Their response is full of lies, they kept us informed by saying 4 times, "they are on their way" that was at 12 noon, 3pm, 5pm and then at 8pm, only after several calls did they respond, we had to leave messages as they don't even have a receptionist. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone. Our request for customer service regarding this nightmare of a transaction is no less than what anyone spending 3200$ would expect. We are reasonable people. Final Business Response /[redacted] and [redacted], A Few Good Men Moving & Storage, LLC is sorry that you are feeling unhappy with the services you received. Our company office, which is located at 1634 US 1 North Youngsville NC, follows the NC Utilities Commissions regulations to the letter. We have been in business for several successful years with many satisfied repeat customers. These customers and their referrals are what have built our company's reputation. Our office is made up of hardworking and honest men, 3 receptionists and an office manager. We strive to provide quality customer service, stay in contact with our customers during their move, and return phone calls and e-mails as quickly as possible. Your presence during the packing and loading of your items, which is required by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, would have prevented many of your frustrations. The nature of this complaint has gone from being unpleased with the service you received to being a very personal attack on the owner. The reputation of our company and the fact that this is the first complaint we have had with the Revdex.com speaks volumes as to who we are and how we operate. We wish you both the best of luck in the future. Sincerely, A Few Good Men Moving & Storage,LLCFinal Consumer Response /[redacted]/This 'business' is so defensive, that should explain it all right there. There is no personal attack here, it's simply the truth about shady business practices. A Few Good Men was given the opportunity to make this situation right with good customer service and showed what kind of business they are by conversing only through the Revdex.com by continuously wanting to have the last word with empty response after response. It sounds like the Utilities Commission needs a complaint as well since you just admitted that you violated Utility Commission regulations (along with labor laws making your employees work 18+ hours in one day). We told your crew leader [redacted] that we had to go to a closing for a couple of hours he said NO PROBLEM. I didn't think they needed to be babysat and came across as trustworthy guys, boy were we wrong. If it was not acceptable that we left for a couple of hours, they should have said no you cannot go to your closing or 'we have to have someone here at all times' or ' this violates utility commission regulations.' All you people do is keep referring to your 'brochures'. We also opted for the 100% replacement insurance and when you sent us the claim form at the very top it said "All damages and missing items must be noted at the time of delivery", you expect us to unpack 100 boxes while you wait with your clipboard to note damaged and missing items? That is on YOU, not on US. It took us several days to unpack everything so how could it be 'noted at the time of delivery' For you not being honest up front about the useless insurance you offer. Everything is written 100% in A Few Good Men's favor however you don't find that out until it's too late....they don't tell you when you are purchasing insurance that you have to unpack everything upon arrival (I doubt they'd wait for that anyway) and NOTE at that time damaged and missing items. They don't tell you until 45 days AFTER that 'you had to be there the whole time while they packed up your house'. They are grasping at straws here with every response. Why all of a sudden 45 days later is this an issue? Everything is shady about this company. My advice to anyone considering it, look at the reviews online and don't walk away, take your money and RUN! Don't fall for that sweet talking charm when they give you an estimate. Our experience was a nightmare and they were not there for us like a good reputable business would be if they cared about their customers experience and their own business reputation.

Moving company did not deliver our furniture as promised and held our furniture until they were paid. They did not meet the contractual obligation thThe movers/owner came to our home in Raleigh NC to analyze what our needs were. He went through our entire house listing the furnishings as well as the items we already had boxed to move. The moving crew was late on their arrival to pack the truck. They then called for a second truck as they did not have room. They were to store it overnight and leave at 6:30am for the 3 hour delivery. One truck arrived at approximately 11:30 am, the second truck stopped about halfway to our house and refused to go further. From there we had to use personal vehicles to move, the owner instructed them to stop at 6:00 pm and leave. They closed up the truck and left with our belongings inside. We were told to find a suitable storage facility for them to unload or it would be returned to Raleigh. We would be required to hire another moving company to move the items to our house. There were 2 pieces of furniture that were damaged in the move and even though we bought the extra insurance to cover any possible damage they refuse to have the items repaired. This has been a bad experience to say the least.Desired SettlementRefundBusiness Response Pleas reference the attached rules posted in the Maximum Rate Tariff by the North Carolina Utilities Commission. All obligations of the contract were met. Our 26' truck was unable to make it up the mountain due to steepness and hair pin turns. Our only option at that point was to offload into a location of the customers choosing or to taxi items up with our 16' truck at an additional cost. The customer opted to have us offload items so they could transport them with their vehicles and a trailer. Additional items were offloaded into a garage for the customer to transport at a later date/time. The brochure Moving 101 A North Carolina Consumer's Guide, which the customer signed for, clearly states in Article VI Storage Options- "Please understand that the mover's liability ends once the items are in the storage unit". The pieces in question on the damage claim were offloaded directly to the customer for transportation up the mountain. These pieces were inspected by both the crew leader and customer for damages and none were found. As with a storage unit, our liability ends once a piece is no longer in our possession. Therefore, we cannot be held liable for any damage that occurred during the customer's transport to the home. Consumer Response Much of the information provided by the contractor is incorrect. The manager who provided the quote and arrangements refused to allow the lead driver to give me his telephone number and he would not call me. The manager was well aware of the road, used GPS and Satellite to confirm they would be able to deliver the items. There was no inspection of the items offloaded. This company literally held our possessions hostage until they were paid. They presented no satisfactory options and totally failed to meet the terms of their agreement. Trucks larger than their larger one routinely get up this roadway. The performance of this company was totally unprofessional and unsatisfactory. The manager should have at least had the professionalism to talk to the customer, instead he shifted that burden on the driver. There is absolutely no excuse for this lack of professionalism.[redacted](XXX) XXX-XXXXFinal Business Response RULE 36IMPRACTICABLE OPERATIONThe carrier shall not be obligated to perform pickup or delivery or render any service at a place or places from or to which it is impracticable to operate vehicles because of:(1) The condition of roads, streets, driveways, alley, or approaches thereto.(2) Inadequate loading or unloading facilities.(3) Any riot, strike, picketing, or other labor disturbance.____________________________________________________________________... 37IMPRACTICAL PICKUP/DELIVERY OR AUXILIARY SERVICE(A) When a shipment is tendered for delivery at destination address and it is physically impossible to complete delivery directly from transporting vehicle due to inaccessibility of the building, its structure, or the nature of an article or articles included in the shipment, the carrier may place the shipment or any part thereof not reasonably possible of delivery, in storage at the nearest available warehouse of the carrier, or a commercial warehouse to the order and expense of the shipper, owner, or consignee of the goods. Movers damaged several items when moving from my original location to the new location.Movers damaged several items when moving from my original location to the new location: - Couch: Damaged the leather - Bed frame: Broke a post when setting the frame down at an angle and snapped particle board when rebuilding bed. - Mattress cover: Tore the fabric of the mattress cover. - TV Stand: Chipped paint on legs while attempting to repair leg that I snapped off.Prior to the move they did not fill out the inventory sheet. Only one item was found initially at the end of the move that was damaged and noted on the inventory form after the fact. Other items were found after. After filling out a claim form, the person responsible for claims called more than a month later and denied all claims. The reasons given were the following: - Couch: Movers claim that work environment was unsafe because of flip flops being in the walkway. They claim that this was brought up to me multiple times and took pictures at some point of them. This is complete hearsay and the flip flops were not what caused them to lose their grip when going through the door. It is the only item noted as damaged on the inventory sheet and they took pictures of it prior. - Bed frame: Movers claim that I jump on the bed which damaged the legs prior to the move. This is a lie. - Mattress: Not brought up on the call. - TV Stand: Since I broke the leg, movers claim no responsibility for the method they used to repair is causing further damage.Desired SettlementI would like the amount claimed on the claim form with them: $432Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted], It is unfortunate that you did not have a pleasant experience with our company. Your claim has been denied due to the factors we discussed with you via phone on Friday October 16, as well as the fact that we believe you falsified your claim form. It is highly unlikely that your sofa weighs over #300. The average sofa is roughly #120-#160, per the American Moving and Storage Association. Furthermore, you were asked repeatedly not to place your shoes in the walkway. As the picture we have confirms, you continued to leave them in the walk way and our men did in fact trip on them causing them to drop your sofa. You also claimed that we damaged your mattress, weighing #100, though your e-mail and pictures you sent describe and show only a hypoallergenic cover that was damaged, NOT a mattress. We will give you the amount of .60/lb. for the mattress cover. As for your TV stand, you broke it. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful at our attempt to repair it for you, but we did not break it initially and are not responsible for this. Last is your bedframe; this piece appears to have been disassembled multiple times and all of the openings have been stripped. The only way to put the bed together was to drill new holes, which you told our men they could do. Despite all of this, we are willing to compromise and approve your claim for your sofa. We will however need to pick it up and weigh it to ensure we have an accurate weight to base the reimbursement off. We will be reaching out to you to set up a time for this. Sincerely, A Few Good Men Moving & Storage, LLCCustomer Care & Claims Department Consumer Response /[redacted]/Based upon the responses received to date from A Few Good Men Moving and Storage LLC, it is obvious the resolution of these issues will need to be made by a Judge in a court of law. I will be preparing and filing my complaint in the near future.
