Review: A Fine Line, LLC failed to provide the agreed upon services and did not meet the completion deadline set forth in their Proposal [redacted] on 28 June, 2013. Specifically, the following problems with the job were noted by the homeowners and confirmed with evaluation by an independent professional painter with no interest in the job:-Only one coat on walls, which failed to cover primer;-Some walls were incompletely painted;-Some doors were not painted;-Paint was damaged when tape was removed, not all tape and plastic was removed;-Multiple areas of insufficient/no coverage on walls and trim;-Multiple runs in paint on walls and trim;-Over-spray on ceilings, trim, hardwood floors, granite counter tops, appliances, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, electrical fixtures, specialty light bulbs and banister railings;-All-in-One Primer and Latex Paint used on trim with previous oil based paint, not primed as agreed;-Ceiling not primed as agreed;-Closets painted with various colors and finishes, rather than same color as room walls in semi-gloss finish as agreed;-Repairs with wall mud not sanded, not spot primed, not provided an extra coat to create consistent finish/appearance across wall, not all holes filled;-Surfaces not free of dust/debris before painting walls and trim, creating sandpaper-like texture;-Sub-floors not sufficiently coated with stain block in majority of rooms; and-Incomplete/insufficient oil based prime coat applied to block smoke odor as agreed to in proposal. After two weeks of inconsistent work hours by a variety of painters, the owner asked to continue clean up, touch up, and corrections after the deadline of 12 July, 2013 and after carpet was installed and homeowners had moved in, pets were in home, and other services were scheduled. Additionally, on at least two occasions, painters left the residence unsecured (doors left unlocked, garage door left open with appliances in garage).Desired Settlement: A refund of the deposit of $1710.00 and no further financial obligation for the homeowners is requested to off-set the additional expense and inconvenience the homeowners will incur in having a competent and dependable painter repair the damage and complete the job as originally requested. This job will require starting from the beginning (due to the insufficient prime coat and eggshell finish), repeating all work, with additional repair work and is estimated to cost $8,000 to $10,000.
